On Monday's "Worst Person in the World" segment of Countdown, we look at bullies in the media and the right wing enablers who love them. The bronze goes to Falafel Boy for his soft touch with Republican Spokesperson (and RAGING anti-Semite) Ann Coulter; the silver to comedian Rush Limbaugh for his attack dog--and ironically hypocritical-- threats against a journalist who was working on a less than flattering profile of him and the gold goes to Murdoch-owned NY Post Page Six Editor Richard Johnson for all but suggesting that another journalist needed to be gang-raped for her less than flattering comments of the Page Six staff after they mocked her.

Knuckle Headed Hoes
The Idols of the fascist party!
I actually heard Rush say that! Nassau Broadcasting took Air America off the air in Maine and I flipped on AM to hear some talk radio, not anymore! I actually stopped the car and sat there with my mouth open. Take the fat stupid SOB off the air! I think his skit was about censorship and being censored and he then brags about threatening a reporter and coercing him to change his article ("blah blah blah and then better than 60% of his story got changed blah blah blah...")
It has to make one wonder if FOX style media is collapsing now or does it get even worse before collapsing.?
I've got a nominee for worst person in the world:
At this morning's press conference:
Reporter: "...following up on Vladimir Putin for a moment, he said recently that next year, when he has to step down according to the constitution, as the president, he may become prime minister; in effect keeping power and dashing any hopes for a genuine transition there..."
Bush: "I've been planning that myself."
From Johnson's comment: "This column has certainly been blamed for creating Paris Hilton - we covered her first and best - but she would have achieved her greatness with or without us."
Delusional nutcase or gigantic idiot? I suppose the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Talk about a media Bully. George Bush today just bullied his way through a press conference. Distracting real journalistic efforts through humor and sarcasm. We need to learn how to turn the tables on these guys. I'd suggest implementing humor and sarcasm, intelligence, creativity, and a pursuit for the truth that is unrivaled by today's standards. We need to learn to stay on task and complete the jobs, subpoenas, etc. we set out to complete.
A bunch of freekin' sexual perverts and criminals. O'Reilly has his sexual harassment/Falafel Boy/loofah incident(s). Rush "How can they call me 'Rush' when I'm so hammered on OxyContin?" Limbaugh, caught with a suitcase full of illegal Viagra while reurning from a sexcapade in the Dominican Republic (apparently, shitbag has a taste for very young brown sugar). And now, we have "Big" Dick Johnson wanting to sexually brutalize a woman as an act of revenge for a comment she made. Jeez. And these people are formulating the political mindset of their listeners (who are also - strangely enough - members of the Religious Right).
Republicans: The Party of Sexual Repression/Angst/Perversion.
murdoch's people are advocating rape?! does this woman have a lawyer? she get one. fast.
bob @ 3:
According to the transcript, Rush at one point suggests using the following threat against journalists: "We're going to find out what drugs you used."
Seems the fat guy is more than a little irony deficient.
hope @ 5:
I believe authors and filmmakers would call that foreshadowing...damn...if that little comment from Heir Bush won't keep me up at night....geeeezus

NY Post Page Six editor and staff think Paris Hilton is "great."
C&L people, can you get us the email of Richard Johnson's boss? I think he should kicked off the Post for making threats like that (he should also be arrested for verbal assault, but one thing at a time).
Seriously, I think that guy should be fired, and enough calls for it making the airwaves may put pressure on the Post to get rid of their liability.
liberalNmoderation @ 11:
Too bad we can't take more comfort in knowing most of us are losing sleep. That and taking part in the morning vomit fest after we read the news.
I saw this last night- I think what the ultimate "takeaway" from the comments made by the creep at the NY Pust is, is simple: nobody in their right mind takes it seriously, or especially considers it a newspaper. So what if he threatened somebody? Nobody read it anyway: the average Pust reader can only dig the pictures.
hope @ 14:
No doubt! This country is gonna see some really rough times in the near future I think...I do hope I'm wrong though....and to Zorro...what's wrong with biscuits and gravy?!?! lol
George_Metesky @ 15:
You really want to put money on that? Personally, I don't. Grahme Frost's family started receiving death threats just because he appeared before Congress advocating the expansion of the SCHIP program. Those college students who had their personal information published on Michelle Malkin's web site got death threats. Neither of these occurances accompanied a direct suggestion for violence. Johnson DID condone violence against that woman, and considering how rabid some people can be, I for one am rather worried about her safety right now.
I second Ahlyssah@13. Inundate Johnson's boss with concerned messages; an even mix of outraged and concern-troll messages might be most effective.
Reich-wingers prove, once again, they have no shame.
liberalNmoderation @ 11:
Maybe if you were able to discern an obvious joke from a speech you would be able to get some sleep. Until then there is always ambien.
Ahlyssah @ 17:
Your point is well taken and I certainly don't mean to minimize Johnson's reprehensible comments; I do mean to ridicule the Ny Post, which qualifies as a newspaper only by virtue of the material that it is printed on.
Leave it to the GOP, when all else fails bully, bluster and threaten.
Mr. Anon @ 20:
Ahhhh...so Bush tells jokes now? Interesting...didn't think he had the mental capacity for humor...seems to me, there's an AWFUL LOT of things that BushCo and Pals have said, have done, or are trying to do, that point to the possibility that they're not going to just give up the power they've been beating us over the head with for the last 6+ years...this entire administration is drunk with power and reeks of fascism...
Ahlyssah @ 13:
Ahlyssah, let's not forget that this is the RUPERT MURDOCH-owned NY Post. I'm not sure what it would take to be fired from one of his outfits, but I doubt that Richard Johnson's veiled threat would do it.
However, if you would like to send them a call or email voicing your disgust, here's the info from their online "contact us" page.
I may be thick but I don't interpret an insinuation of "gang rape" from this comment. It's just a harmless flip comment.
"half the Page Six staff is female. The male half might take her someplace private and disprove her theory, but we don't like a woman with a mustache."
so many righties need rabies vaccinations but there's so little time
liberalNmoderation @ 23:
He tells lots of really bad jokes. Just because something isn't funny doesn't mean it should be taken seriously. Don't get me wrong I hate the guy and I hope he gets cancer. That doesn't mean I'm so detached from reality that I'm unable to see a joke.
Mr. Anon @ 27:
Fair enough, Mr. Anon...I must admit though, I can't watch his speeches anymore, haven't been able to for years now...though I do catch snippets here and there...usually from Bill Mahers show, The Daily Show, and my fav, the Colbert report...I didn't catch this particular nugget o' wisdom, from our fearless leader...and while I'm somewhat on the eccentric side, I'm not detached from reality one bit...
If Geraldo had to "apologize" on Fox to Malkin for his spitting threat, doesn't it make sense for Rush to apologize for stalking and harrasment and Johnson for threatening gang rape?
rchap @ 25:
I agree. I think its funny even. Clearly not classy, but I wouldn't think calling someone emasculated is classy either. And as far as the paris hilton comments, I can see even Jon Stewart making those. I think its the subjective bias of hating NY post that makes these comments look like a lowblow to people here. crude, but not lawsuit material by any stretch.
I'm not a big fan of Keith Olbermann, he seems snobbish. Putting this guy as the worst for this particular reason reminds me of this.
An occasional c&l reader, a TDS fan. :)
Mr. Anon @ 27:
A lot of people thought Hitler was a joke too. We saw how that turned out.
Nicole Belle @ 25:
I know. If there's anyone out there who can handle bad press, it's him. But I think it is worth making the attempt, if only to get this story out on the airwaves, not to mention that Johnson himself may decide to step down (or at least freaking apologize) once he sees people turning on him.
Then again, I have a lot of faith in humanity. :(
[Deleted. Let's not stoop to a Murdochian-approved level, OK? Thanks-Sitemonitor]
#26 and #31, are you male? I don't know, but the comment is not harmless and certainly not "funny" to me. I think he worded it in a way that its vaguely aggressive meaning can be taken, but it's also defensible. "Huh? I never said that...gee, don't you have a sense of humour?" It's a very old ploy. Prick.
You beat me to it, Angie. I'm a woman, and I don't think there's a damn thing funny about what Johnson said.
Re: the NY Post
At first read it does look like he's suggesting gang-rape, but I think the intended reaction to the charge of being "emasculated", i.e. castrated, was that they might take her into private and show her that they were not castrated. In other words, show her their genitals.
Billo Reilly has a long list of prominent Black leaders who appear regularly on his show. If Billo is the rabid racist bigot the Left claim that he is; why would Black folks like Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Ofari Hutchinson, Juan Williams and Donna Brazile consistently accept guest invitations to the No Spin Zone?
mrogi @ 38:
YOU ARE AN IDIOT
michael @ 39:
MY BAD, CALLING YOU AN IDIOT GIVES IDIOTS A BAD NAME.
Maybe Mike@37, but then why "someplace private"? And the nasty comment about her appearance that follows? What does that have to do with them exposing themselves to prove they're men? I still think it's overall a dodgy comment, and if he's asked about it publicly you will hear the sound of beeping as he backs up.
Cheers.
Angie @ 41:
Angie@35
I didn't feel like watching the clip today at work, I just watched it at home, in the context of the response, the writers' comment seemed much more cheap than earlier. Definitely not funny, its actually a kinda lazy attempt to deflect a very simple point that the lady was trying to make (it seemed like). Matter of fact, it is the writers who deserve that "Artful Dodger" title that I posted the link about @31 . It still doesn't qualify as a threat to rape. Olbermann and our dear blogger are blowing it out of proportion. Its just a cheap unfunny response.
On a side note, If someone (man or a woman) called me emasculated, in a one-on-one argument I may respond with something similar, though in that case it wouldn't be as dull or cheap a comment as it was here, nevermind the fact that I'd be better off ignoring a cheap insult like that. And yes, apparently I am male, are you trying to lable people now? It'd be best to keep personal opinion separate from whatever steareotypes you have in your head.
and about your comment @41. They are not referring so much "to trying to prove that they are men" as they are "to trying to prove that they actually have genitals" (emasculated means someone whose genitals have been removed), the writers are attempting to 1) not take the lady seriously 2) take her comments very literally, trying to get humor out of it 3) making fun of her looks.
You want to put down a man, you attack his manhood, you want to put down a woman, you attack her looks, apparently thats how it goes :).
mrogi @ 38:
You have GOT to be kidding me!!!! O'Reilly IS the rabid racist bigot we think he is...and that's putting it nicely...the man is evil incarnate!
liberalNmoderation @ 43:
Oh yeah....I forgot to mention, o' stinky's a sexist scumbag, and a pervert...seems to be a problem in Neo-Con camp these days...sooooo many freaks in THAT closet!!! LMMFAO!!!
DAMN!
You cannot beat Olbermann on what it takes to get it right. He should be teaching a class on "Journalism: Relearning what you were taught - and seem to have long forgotten - about telling the truth".
If ever there was a poster boy for the benefits of having an abortion it would have to be the glutinous asshole Rush. "We'll find where your kids go to school"? We sit back and and let this hate mongering filth threaten some one's kids? I am so sick of the double standard in this country, the whole 'it's different when we do it' load of crap. I'm sad to realize the left do it to sometimes, no body's shit smells like roses in this world people. Rush will find out what drugs the guy takes? Why? did his Oxycontin script run out. Where is the public outrage, the picket lines, the condemnation every time one of these pukes opens their mouth and the sewage pours forth? Some 80 year old clown in a cowboy hat tries to be ghetto with his nappy headed hos comment which no one bothered to listen to in the first place because who the hell gets up that early for some dick named Imus?
But these people and politicians with smear campaigns against children for god's sake are allowed to breathe another day?
