Mike's Blog Round Up

Hey ladies. My name is Manila Ryce and I'm a Scorpio. My hobbies include listening, playing shirtless guitar, and blogging at The Largest Minority.

It's time for some Thanksgiving leftovers. Ivan from Hip-Hop is Read prepared one hell of a bird stuffed with rap lyrics, Bill Maher, and the always enlightening Mumia Abu-Jamal. There's plenty of truth to go around. Take as much as you want and stop flirting with your cousin.

For those of you interested in Tofurkey instead because you think redirected consumption is the answer to environmental degradation, Socialism or Your Money Back would like to have a word with you. If you simply prefer Tofurkey because you enjoy the taste, well that's just weird.

Bush allowed over 150 executions to take place as governor of Texas, but as president he sure is comfortable with pardoning turkeys. Pottersville examines why the Bush admires Pakistan's cock of the walk so much.

Dr. Monkey Von Monkerstein has a nostalgic poo-flinging Thanksgiving story I think we can all relate to. Monkeys might not make good passengers, but they're great storytellers. The Doctor has a staff of millions banging away on typewriters.

Yikes! is hosting the last edition of Carnival of the Liberals for the year, and possibly forever if the rapture comes. The topic is the Separation of Church and State and why it's a groovy thing. Some of your favorite Godless heathens are there.

Darryl Issa and the republicans are STILL trying to change the delegation of electoral votes in California. Issa is paying $2.00 per signature for the petition to get the redistricting initiative on the ballot for the next primary election here.

As you know, California Counts -- a cabal of right-wing political
operatives linked to Rudy Giuliani -- is working hard to steal the White House (again) in 2008. They want to fool California voters into changing the rules so Giuliani -- or some other regressive Republican presidential nominee -- can rob at least 20 Electoral College votes from California next November.

LA Confidential,

In case you haven't read "Shock Doctrine" yet, Naomi Klein documents that Tamiflu was originally developed by Gilead Pharmaceuticals, which had Donald Rumsfeld as it's Chairman of BOD. Before selling out to Roche, they recieved big time government contracts to stock the country with Tamiflu in the aftermath of the 9/11 and anthrax attacks. Though this constituted a huge conflict of interest, Rumsfeld out and out refused to sell off his holdings in Gilead, and made millions off the contracts. Starts on page 311.

Rummy's into "pushing" all kinds of nasty substances and poisons for profit on to a blind faith public. No doubt about his background in that arena.

Militant socialists hate environmentalists because they view it as a distraction from their Pure True Ideology. They are tedious, annoying ideologues who can't bear the fact that the writings of the Great Marx did not predict global warming. Screw them.

Wow. I have no idea what this C&L post means, as it seems to be a random assortment of unrelated phrases and neologisms, but it sounds like blugal is having a good time!

Yo. My name is Vanilla Korne, and I have crabs. I love to sleep, suck on harmonicas, and practice toe-tapping on harps. My blog is unlisted, so you can't reach me, and that's the way I like it. I belong to The Contrarians, which is either a non-voting french horn-playing rock ensemble, or a loosely-affiliated posse of blog hackers, depending on our mourning mood.
I am staring at our Turkey-day leftovers, and they include a fizzless remnant in a 40-ouncer, one tenth of a fifth of Muscatel, and a well-chewed cork from a magnum of Cristal. I think I''ll knock off the Muscatel, with sugar, hold the cream, as a wake-up potion.

As soon as it takes effect, I'll get back to you.

bush allowed over 150 executions to take place as governor of Texas ...

Including Karla Faye Tucker, who committed a heinous crime but then through her years in prison she became genuinely reformed, so much so that the frickin' Pope actually intervened on her behalf, and thousands of Christians pleaded with bush to spare her. "Please don't kill me," bush mocked, this so-called compassionate conservative freak.

Silly people. Being spared execution was given to one person by bush, only one man, the infamous serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. Henry's first hit job was in Florida, a couple were in Arkansas, the rest were in Texas. What a coinkydink.

bush allowed the execution of a retarded man, and the execution of a man whose lawyer fell asleep at trial, but he spared Henry Lee Lucas. So we know that bush has a real soft spot in his ugly shriveled heart for people with no conscience.

Giving Bush the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the reason he executed the retarded man was an example of Compassionate Conservatism, an empathy. Being retarded himself, and perhaps having occasional dim glimpses of the havoc he has caused, and the disaster he is, Bush may have felt that since he was too much of a coward to do the right thing, and do away with himself, maybe by murdering another retarded being, he could somehow, by proxy, atone for himself.

Nothing rational about that, but, by definition, retarded folks are unlikely to be rational, as witness all the other despicable acts Bush has committed.

I think those who are criticising the Marxists about their lack of enviromentalism are not realising that they are simply pointing out the limitations of a society like capitalism which whole essence is to make a fast buck and to hell with the consequences and it is who pays the piper that calls the tune so business will ensure that the necessary changes to production and distribution will not be made if it means smaller profits . Sentimentalism cannot replace Socialism .

'Bush allowed over 150 executions to take place as governor of Texas, but as president he sure is comfortable with pardoning turkeys. Pottersville examines why the Bush admires Pakistan’s cock of the walk so much.'

Thanks for completely missing the point. Yes, Arbusto allowed over 150 persons to be executed on his watch as gov of Tex-ass, including one woman who had so completely rehabilitated herself she would have created no problems had her death sentence been commuted to life in prison. But the obvious follow-up observation to that is his pardoning of Scoots Libby. Now that we have at least a hint (via Scott McClellan) that Arbusto knew all along that Karlheinz Roef and Prick Meany not only outed Valerie Plame but engaged in a cover-up to hide their wrongdoing, the Libby pardon is all the more odious. It simply won't do for the Dems to take the "I" word off the table in the interests of bipartisan cooperation: they're not going to get anything else done in 2008, so why not start the impeachment process?

cliff's picture

Oh okay, since socialism is the only thing that can save the world you might as well continue to finance environmental destruction and global starvation.

Brilliant logic.
