Not All Employment Numbers Are Bad: Gonzo Gets A Job
By Logan Murphy Friday Jun 06, 2008 8:45amJune 6 (Bloomberg) -- Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who was forced from his job amid a controversy over the firings of federal prosecutors, has been hired to provide assistance to a special master on a patent case.
Gonzales will help former U.S. District Judge Layn R. Phillips oversee settlement talks in the case of a Texas company which claims banks such as Wells Fargo & Co., Citigroup Inc.'s Citibank and Bank of America Corp. are violating its patents for taking and transmitting digital images of checks.
The judge overseeing the case, U.S. District Judge David Folsom in Marshall, Texas, ``has no objection to Mr. Gonzales's assistance in this case, and believes he can provide valuable assistance to the Special Master,'' Phillips wrote in the order. Read on...
Times are tough, with the recession, mortgage foreclosure crisis and rising unemployment, but it appears former Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales has finally landed on his feet. Well, if you're trying to find evidence of illegal activity, why not hire someone who has experience in breaking the law? Right? More from TPM...

sad when somebody is reduced to working for patent claim pirates.
Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales,...has been hired to provide assistance to a special master on a patent case.
I got to say one thing the man is good at is serving masters.
Would you go into court with a lawyer who "can't recall" anything about your case? What, were there no other lawyers applying for this position with better memories?
I believe the expression is "left town in a hail of bullets."
Good for Amnesia Gonzales....enjoy that new role pal.
A "Texas company". Guess Georgie pulled a few strings. Just friends giving each other a reach around at the urinal.
Defense argument #1) - Patent laws are quaint and obsolete. Drop the case.
Defense argument #2) - No death or organ failure equals no harm. Drop the case.
Shouldn't he have a job making licence plates? (or as Americans call them license plates?).
... In jail!
Probably working with the government /banks to screw the patent holder out of his rights.
I have a dream....
I dream of a day when Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Rice, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Powell and many more are shackled
together and put on a plane for The Hague and are tried before the International Criminal Court, are found guilty of
Crimes Against Humanity, and are sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole, to be served in large glass cubicles
in front of the Washington Monument. In this dream children from schools all over the country arrive in buses and view the
criminals as they languish in their cells. There will be a national holiday called Peace Day in which all schools and businesses will
close and we will all remember what happens to bellicose tyrants and war criminals.
I have a dream....
Living is too good for treasonous murderers such as them.

A GREAT dream indeed. I share your dream! I hope I live to see the day when America really stands for justice for all.

I can't recall the Defence argument I was going to add. I'll have to look further.
"Nope- not under here." heh, heh
this is worth posting?
Ain't corruption grand???
Trying to make bubblechimp jealous?
I got a new Special Master
he's better than yooo - oo - oo . . .
Aw c'mon, everybody sing!
marko @ 10:
I dreamed that democrats impeached Cheney Rummy and Chimpy, and took back control of our govt .
...then I woke up!
If I remember correctly a Special Master is an assistant to a judge, who has no less than 12 years experience as a lawyer. Texas has a two High Court system. The Texas Supreme Court is largely for business matters. The Court of Criminal Appeals is exactly what it's name states, and even hears Death Row Appeal. Gonzales is from the former court.
The main problem is, the Texas Supreme Court tends to favor business over consumer interests.
See, I knew the rise in unemployment wasn't because so many teenagers joined the workforce.
It's because so many Bush and McCain officials have joined the work force.
Mike @ 19:
Someone else was fired so he could be hired. Carrying the method of firing Attorney Generals to another level.
ysbaddaden @ 18:
Al must be the guy who gets the coffee.
The little creep is not even fit to provide special assistance to Larry Craig.
Attila the Appeaser @ 22:
Maybe they tapped the right guy for the job.
Ron @ 23:
dot you mean
maybe they foot tapped the right wing guy for the blow job?
milquetoast @ 24:
Yeah, I just wanted to clean it up a bit.
Can't look at that picture, I'm Afraid of Clowns
Ron @ 25:
Awwww dont worry about the girls...they can take it!
I think it's time for a "Where's Dubya". Seems he's AWOL through all this.
Gonzo got a job? I saw Gonzo not too long ago. I walked into a Cracker Barrel washroom and Gonzo was in there handing me a towel and pointed to a little tip jar on the counter. I felt pity for the guy and dropped in a quarter. I thanked the manager for giving the guy a job but the manager stated that Cracker Barrel doesn't have washroom attendants.
Can't they not recall events, and lie for themselves?
Doug @ 29:
that's frickin funny....gonzo was over his head of course that's what bush wanted loyal numbskull..his famous words....."i don't recall"
Jeffrey Stewart @ 2:
so he's essentially a patent clerk? LOL
Can O' Whoopass @ 6:
You got that right!!! :-)
Doug @ 29:
Laugh out loud!!!!! :-)
wow what a ground breaking high profile case for a legal mind like his. this will come in handy when he is being sentenced someday in the not too distant future. his lawyer can tell the judge the he is gainfully employeed.
it occurs to me that the bushco. criminals should have all taken their lumps and allowed themselves to be charged, tried and sentenced while their party still had the presidential pardon juice. thieir criminal acts would soon be behind them if they had taken that path. their stonewalling may have prevented it now.
payback? poetic justic? karma?
Aren't there any grounds for Texas lawyers to have Speedy disbarred? He's a disgrace.
CoIntelPro for Pronktastic Democratic Party Victory @ 14:
I think it is.
Maybe being a de facto law clerk might show these criminals what their collective futures hold (short of trials, convictions and going the way of Saddam).
marko @ 10:
I dream that along with you!
Bush Administration officials have been charged with war crimes.
In time...in time!
Stimpson @ 36:
One would think. And I have been trying to get TX to start revoking Miers law license for ignoring a subpoena. I don't live in TX and it has to go thru TX.
Any Texans out there want to run with that one?
Hit them where it hurts most...in the pocketbook. That's all these pricks know about.
And none of the attorneys have filed affidavits of prejudice? No has has filed an affidavit questions on his credibility or fairness in such a high-profile case? Is the fix in to try to re-habilitate this pathetic liar?
Ruthless People @ 3:
Every attorney I know (lots) can remember virtually every case they ever tried, most words they've heard and many they heard about. Gonzo's either a liar or brain damaged. Period.
Ron Ft lauderdale @ 34:
No, babes, I don't want fries with that.
Ruthless @3 Thier were no lawyers, so they gave ot to him. I would like to start a drawing with the winner getting to knock that shit-eating smirk off of his face, with the moneys going to fund a pro human being party. I could hardly control myself watching this fucker lie to congress with that smug grin on his mug. *$#}_?#8 -- CEO
This is a job that a law school grad gets first year out of law school. Weak. i thought a loyal bushie would land on his feet a little better than this.
Steal a loaf of bread and you'll rot in jail. Steal million$, and you rise to the top of the Republican Party. Or, as the old saying goes, "An attorney can steal more with a pen than any crook ever stole with a gun".
