George Bush Breaks a New Record

A large portion of Americans have been disaproving of Bush for about 7.5 years now. But that seems to matter little because he still gets everything he wants and then some.

there's something strange going on around here
and what it is, aint exactly clear.

The reason Congressional ratings are so low (at least among those in my "tribe") is because they REFUSE to consider and persue impeachment of Bush/Cheney.

this guy is so sure that history will vindicate him. Well, he needs to really mull this over. He's a leader, the worst ever leader. 23 percent, I believe that is the lowest ever. that's how he will go down in history in addition to having the crookedest administration ever. His goal was to ruin this country and perhaps that is the one thing he has succeeded in doing. Reich-wingers are obstructionists

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is planning to bring forward a “Coburn Omnibus” in July that would “wrap most if not all of the bills held by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) into one large measure to be voted on by the Senate.” Coburn is blocking roughly 100 bills, including ones that fund breast cancer research and screen soldiers for signs of suicide risk. Most recently, Coburn placed a hold on an HIV/AIDS prevention bill, although Senate negotiators have reportedly reached a “tentative” agreement to move forward on that legislation.

Unsean's picture

What's it matter? It's not as if Democrats are actually going to stand up to him, despite his extreme unpopularity. Bush has got to be the only President that I know who's ratings and poll numbers are give new meaning to the phrase 'bottoming out,' yet he governs as if they weren't.

And if that weren't strange enough, the Democrats feed into his illusions by acting as if he were somehow stronger that he actually is.

I don't quite understand. If I had an enemy, and that enemy were somehow diminished, it seems somehow logical that you would choose that moment to attack (especially if you were aware of that weakness).

And I know that that Senate, and to a lesser extent the Congress, are essentially good-ole-boys networks, yet that doesn't quite explain this behavior on the part of Democrats.

Most of America knows President Bush is a few cans short of a six-pack, so why is it that Democrats for the most part just don't get that it's feeding frenzy time. There's blood in the water and the time for waiting on the sidelines is over.

Plus, I get the creeping feeling that the minute a Democratic president even thinks of doing something like Bush is doing, we're going to not only hear about impeachment, but it's going to happen.

Which would be the right thing to do, though I would ask why is it right for Clinton (who's, let's be honest, misadventures in office pale in comparison to Bush's) yet Democrats generally will not entertain the idea for Bush.

Dubya, biggest asshole on this planet, and probably the nearest 200 million solar systems.......

I don't know Zaphod Beeblebrox would give him a run for the money for that title.

Well...At least Zaphod had SOME compassion...and was quite funny if I recall....

Doesn't matter, it's much like the elections they just make up the numbers & people.

Yeah, but at least he was cool enough to have an extra head and arm.

Wow, so that means even about 15% of the 28%ers think he's doing a bad job. That's just sad.

And I'll agree that congress is doing a pathetic job too, bunch of appeasers. Enabling appeasing spineless money-whores, or at least a solid majority of them.

It's Obama being Obama.
He's a coward and traitor to the constitution.
He's afraid of Republicans and their 23%ers.
He should be afraid of his own base!
He lost my vote and respect.
No matter who wins we will end up with
4 more years of the same.
McCain and Obama both offer 4 more years of Bush.

Its WAY past torches-and-pitchforks time

The average citizen has zero idea of gumption, patriotism, and awareness of their rights as free people to make the government fear them, instead of the other way around.

My I say that I mourn deeply the loss of my country. The USA I knew growing up is no longer. The USA I served for 20 years in the USAF (during Vietnam) is gone. I hereby declare myself a CARLINITE. From now on I intend to sit by and watch and laugh heartily as a once great nation dies a slow and agonizing death. One can only wonder how our country may have turned out had Dumbya not been givin the reigns.
My idol George Carlin was right all along.

As Dick Cheney would say, "So?"

Who gives a fuck if Bush is at 23%? What does that change, exactly? The Bushies are getting a huge double win on FISA and handgun rights, the war continues, the wealthiest still have their tax breaks, the Justice Dept is still politicized, science is still being suppressed, Congress is still totally fucking complicit and ineffective, checks and balances are still broken, the federal debt continues to compound, the US dollar is still going down, the mortgage crisis worsens by the day . . .

23% approval? "So?"

George Carlin was right. They got you by the balls.

The Times/Bloomberg polling showing Dumbya with a 23% approval rating. Of that 23% only about 2% are better-off now than before he was selected for the White House. This leaves a balance of 21% approving Bush's performance although they have not benefitted from his policies. My question is this: How, in the world, could that 21% be so stupid?????

LanceThruster's picture

Heckuva job, Bushie.

It's patently unfair to use that phrase as it is meant ironically when someone actually hasn't done a heckuva job.

Bush has done a truly remarkable job in lowering/raising his approval/disapproval rating.

Who are those 23% people?!! oh, FRIST

1). Radical Christian evangalicals who still believe Bush is the Messiah or Second Coming
2). Those who can/will never admit they were wrong
3). Rightwing fringe elements (NRA, xenophobes, etc.)
4). The wealthiest 1%
5). CEOs, employees of, or stockholders of industries that pollute, profit from, or exploit the environment or war
6). The dumbshits of America

I think that just about covers 23% of U.S.' citizens.

wheyghey's picture

With 23% approval for the president and 73% disapproval added to 18% approval and 73% disapproval for Congress, you'd think we'd have some better candidates out there. Actually, there are 2-3 that I can think of. Too bad they have no real chance (somehow).

B. Was it put on with super-glue?
C. I better stop laughing so hard and pay attention to driving.

Democrats rolled over on Iraq under the fear of being labeled soft on terror. Rove directed a masterful plan that forced them to submit to the oil grab for our national security. It was then that I lost all faith in democrats ever standing up against the great war president. Democrats need to be charged with war crimes since they did nothing to stop it and are conceeding more and more on whatever a CHIMP wants.

How about million dollar rebate checks if we vote for Obama? $300 worked for chimp 8 years ago, well that and Jeb Kat FL et al. Inflation, ya know?

There's no point bashing Bush. Like the lesions that announce the onset of some loathsome disease Bush is merely the outward manifestation of the underlying sickness. Cursing the lesions is pointless; it's the virus that's killing us and the virus is corruption on a nation-wide scale.
The national spirit is corrupt...corrupt with greed, self indulgence, bigotry, and apathy. We're stuck with the likes of Bush because we deserve the likes of Bush. He is the perfect avatar for what we've become...desensitized, impotent, and dispirited.
