Mike's Blog Roundup
By Mike Finnigan Tuesday Jul 01, 2008 10:00amCynics' Party: Obama panders to religious fanatics and promises a Jesus-crazy administration. He shouldn't promising to expand the corrupt and unconstitutional Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, he should be promising to investigate their rampant cronyism and close 'em down. Our friend Pastor Dan, takes a slightly different view.
mandroppings: The Department of Homeland Security has deployed 181 'terrorism liaison officers' in Colorado to keep a watchful eye out for anyone engaging in 'suspicious activity.'
TVNews Lies: Yankee Doodle Deadly
Democurmudgeon: Atom Smasher, Black Holes, Strangelets To Swallow The World?

Go read Addiction: Buying the Cure at Passages Malibu, by frequent Crooks and Liars contributor, Mark Groubert. It's terrific.

REM, "It's the end of the world as we know it, And I feel fine!"
Empty Slogans . . Mediocrity is the Norm
On the Obama dealing with the FBIs, I say give them enough busy work so that they stay out of the other branches and functions of government. Otherwise we will have to continually put up with their whining about their participation. Nothing important or critical, just enough for them to feel good about themselves.
"This is the FBI! Drop your Atheism and come out with your crosses up!"

Now that I like!
Excellent idea!
Maybe they can substitute for the illeguls building the border fence! see http://cabdrollery.blogspot.com/2008/07/fencing-off-ut.html

And you wishy-washy agnostics! Man up and get some Jebus already!
As automakers dropped their latest batch of awful sales numbers on the market on Tuesday, reinforcing the gloom spreading across the economy, the troubles confronting American workers seemed to intensify.
Plummeting home prices have in recent months eliminated jobs for hundreds of thousands of people, from bankers and real estate agents to construction workers and furniture manufacturers. Tighter lending standards imposed by banks in the wake of huge mortgage losses have made it hard for many Americans to secure credit — the lifeblood of expansion in recent years — crimping the appetite of consumers, whose spending amounts to 70 percent of the economy.
Joblessness has accelerated, and employers have slashed working hours even for those on their payrolls, shrinking the size of paychecks just as workers need them the most.
How To Report Honestly
Seriously folks...things have become so bloody ridiculous...I am just goin to make fun of everything for awhile.

How's that $600 stimulis package working out?

The FBI was just in here looking for you!
"Obama panders to religious fanatics and promises a Jesus-crazy administration."
Who wrote this shit Randy Weaver?
xoites defends Constitution @ 12:
I hain't skeert o' no bible thumpin bastages!
liberalAGNOSTICFRONTmoderation @ 14:
I can deal with them too, as long as it is their Bibles they keep thumping.
Cal @ 13:
Yeah, I thought that was a little over the top.
xoites defends Constitution @ 15:
Oh let them TRY to convert me! I'll rain science down upon their noggins so fast and furious, it will make LBJ (Little Baby Jebus) cry.
LBJ and the FBI. Makes me want to become an acronymnostic.
liberalAGNOSTICFRONTmoderation @ 16:
People seem to have forgotten:
1) Obama is trying to disprove the still rampet rumor that he's a Muslim as well as a second rumor that he's a pratctitioner of Black Liberatin theology or as his detractors will call it Black spremacy theology.
2) He's trying to get elected and right or wrong there are alot more of the faithful than faith-haters in America.
3) What did people think was going to happen when they nominated a former faith based community activist?
Can you believe MSM is still going on about Clark? What the Hell! Housing crisis, 2 wars, but (gasp) Clark offend St. McCain! WTF!
The particle accelerator starts up in August.
I used to think that I had to find a job before my lease expires in October. Now I have to find a job before the world ends in August. If it's not one thing, it's another...

check with my ex. she gets my refunds, If I get any.
I'm reminded that Homes and Cars have been removed from the CPI.
You should think twice about posting links to the Cynics' Party. They do for Christianity what Little Green Footballs does for Islam--Unhinged, seething hatred. Most atheists were supposed to offer an improvement over fundie zealotry... but the post they have published over there feels like something written by Michelle Malkin on a PCP holiday (but about "jeebus freaks" instead of "islamofascists").
I am all for criticism of church and politics... but it is really hard to stomach when it is so far removed from rational discourse.
Look, obama threw the FBIs a sop, and it's a brilliant move. Many of these charities now have budgets based on getting money from the Feds. If Obama said he'd just cut them off, they'd rise up against him. By implying that he'd still keep the faith based office open, he puts them in the position of not wanting to slag him too hard, lest he win the election and then want to cut them off for not supporting him.
He'd rather not have them shooting at him until November. He released his "conditions" under which Fed support would be offered so the Left won't whack him too hard about it. All in all, a very well-calculated political move, IMHO.

I am going to try to reschedule my dental appointment for sometime in September. No reason to go through all that if it isn't neccesary.
BigT @ 25:
It's been getting worse the last two years.
Last month some atheist even started saying that Christians should be silenced.
Even more frightening was how some people agreed with him.
Cal @ 28:
Some Athiest? This has never happened before?
Is it an Athiest we would know and care about or some guy in Jersey City?
liberalNmoderation @ 5:
I have to credit a former boss for that idea. He had a way of keeping the annoying away from the real work being done so that everything ran smoothly. Sort of promoting them out of harm's way. Too bad I lost touch with him.
xoites defends Constitution @ 29:
It may have happend before but if it did I didn't notice.
I also don't remember the guys name.
Cal @ 31:
My real question is, "So what?"
I can find a nut from any religious or political group who will say something outrageous or offensive. Find me a belief system and i will find you a lunatic somewhere.
Are you worried? Thinking about fleeing the country to find Religious Freedom?
I mean, seriously; what is your point?
Are the "terrorism liaison officers" in La too or are they only worried that terrorist will attack just the Democratic convention?
You know, I don't mind if some crank says I need to be silenced. I just don't see the sense in linking to a blog post that seems intent on offering satire but only offers hate.
I don't blame my dad, who was an atheist, for the foolish arrogance of Christopher Hitchens, the economic silliness of Ayn Rand, the purges of Stalin, or the bigotry of the Cynics Party. But then my dad is also a rational person.
Hey.... I never wrote this! Be careful when you quote people!
BigT @ 35:
If I was the one that screwed up the quote I'm sorry I have no idea how that happend.
BigT @ 35:
That is just the way the nesting of the quotes go. A user can not control that.
xoites defends Constitution @ 32:
Free speech is good and everyone has a right to it.
No problem! Peace!
Cal @ 38:
I totally agree, even this moron you refer to (totally out of context, i have no idea where you heard this).
I refuse to be shaken up by a lonely voice screaming for the anihilation of speech. I still don't get your point. Are you saying religous people are in any way in danger of losing their rights?
xoites defends Constitution @ 40:
I don't think religious people are in danger of losing their rights. I just think that sometimes atheists can be big, insecure, dogmatic a-holes, just like the people they want to protect us from.
I think being a big, insecure, dogmatic a-hole is open to evertone. :)
xoites defends Constitution @ 42:
Yeah but IMHO there didn't use to be that many atheists of this sort on C&L.
BTW it's not what he wrote that's troubling so much as how many atheists stood by and didn't rebuke him.
mackiddo5 @ 30:
Heheheee, I think you had a damn smart boss.
Alas, there are too many organizations that claim to "cure" addiction, when for them it's really a racket. It undermines the very good work done by legit groups.
Well I tried to read ALL of "Buying the cure" and I lost it at page 5.
The story is so old I have heard it a hundred times.
Some rich spoiled brat from a crime family cooks up a scheme to soak stupid rich people of their tons of money.
So what's news about this story?
It goes on from the White house to the shit house and nothing has changed.
Addicts are idiots. They can't cope with life so they scrounge for drug to cope and become human pests.
I think we should all jettison the addicts of our lives and maybe THEN the feeling of being unwanted might give them the impetus to put down the drugs.
Can you tell I hate druggies?
You guys were right the other night. The conservatards are going apeshit over WALL-E. It's almost like a knee jerk reaction of guilt.
Now, if some of this critics would actually watch the movie, then that would be nice.
The blog about CERN creating a black hole that would destroy earth was laughable. What a rube... Besides, if humanity destroyed itself in the pursuit of science, that's a hell of a lot better then destroying ourselves with warfare. We would have died in the pursuit of knowledge instead of destruction. It would be marvelous.
I'm sure Yellowbird doesn't have a drug... What's it for you yellowbird? Food? TV? Fiction in general? Hate? Everyone has an addiction buddy, even you...
Can you tell I hate hipocrites?
There is no such thing as Black Holes..
It is a stupid concept... and it shows how ass backwards the church of science has become.
I am so fucking sick of the old paradigm regarding this issue.. so many people informed by 45 minute propagandia documentaries so these cock sucking PHD's can get their funding secured, and no one dare to question the mighty sages of Black Holes, Dark Matter, Invisible Galaxies, and a whole hose of utter SHIT that they say is there because they CANT detect it...
Even when they say they find this shit in articles.. they really have not.. It is always a NON Detection, ALWAYS .. go look for yourself... and these Priests of science have pulled the wool so far over everyone's eyes, and the pictures they are now painting are remarkably opaque and totally incongruent..
Science needs a house cleaning.. They need to follow their OWN rules... As their own pet theories have been falsified over and over again....
A third rate theory forbids
A second rate theory explains after the fact
A first rate theory predicts
When was the last time you heard a viable prediction from these assholes??
Everytime they have made one is the past decade they have fallen on their asses and were totally wrong.. Deep Impact Mission, LIGO, and on and on and on...
WRONG..
Meaning the entire Theory they we are feed about the nature of our Universe .. is TOTALLY FUCKING WRONG.
Amen.

I saw it this past weekend and knew that conservatives were going to be wetting their diapers over it. How dare a movie suggest that pollution is bad!
And they're the same morons who were spooging their shorts over the dime-store Ayn Randism that they read into The Incredibles and Ratatouille. I sometimes wonder if conservatives can ever just enjoy themselves at a movie.

Yeah kinda like religion right?
Id like to hear your explanations debunking these theories. Black holes, dark matter...etc etc...
