Daily Show: Ron Suskind Talks Liars & Impeachment
By SilentPatriot Monday Aug 11, 2008 7:00pm
...albeit in a gentle, politically-correct way.
Investigative journalist Ron Suskind dropped by "The Daily Show" Monday night to talk about the blockbuster revelation in his new book, The Way of the World, in which he was able to confirm through high-ranking CIA sources that the Bush administration ordered US intelligence agencies to fabricate a letter justifying the invasion of Iraq after the original case was revealed to be a fraud.
"The White House is intensely interested because there may be a legality that has Constitutional consequences."

"Constitutional consequences" …
You don't mean ssssshhhhhhhh… like impeachment …
In this Congress?!?!
With Nanci Fat Cat Pelosi?!?!
Naaaaaaaawwwwwwww…

In an ideal and just world, the Bush administration would be extremely worried about the consequences of answering charges of war crimes that they have committed against the people of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Ha ha. You been checking out the Neocons trying to spin their way out of this Georgia mess they got themselves into.
"Ur' doin' a good job Saakashvili"
The Iran Contra Gang fabricate documents to start a war?
No!! You don't say!
Neighbors ask who's next as Bush allows Russia free rein
Hey people! Don't do business with the Bushes and you won't have any problems.
L.A. Confidential @ 4:
You gotta hand this one to Obama LA. He was smart enough to stay out of the frey. And let McCain shoot his mouth off and step in it with both feet. Now, whats he gonna do? They were in such a hurry to look Presidential, that they (again) stepped on their dicks.
Erroll @ 3:
And that they have committed against the American people, don't forget.
McSenile plagiarizing somebody more famous than himself "We are all Georgians"
ferrofluid @ 9:
Yeah another fine lie. Hilarious watching these idiots spin when one of their clandestine operations goes haywire isn't it?
‘Where Are the Weapons of Mass Destruction?’
[bold mine]
Quite a story ..
In which Scott Ritter not only "heard a similar story" but also almost got himself killed at the behest of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) while Paul Bremer was in charge.
Erroll @ 3:
the reality is that many of the people of this country and their representatives were mislead into this war/occupation. not sure but i don't believe this administration is worried ...why? they have a good legal mind in addington who doesn't respect the constitution.....i believe this is a person who believes he is of a superior mind to the founding fathers.
this war was in the making before clinton....they've had their eye on it for some time.
there was a lot of international pressure to reduce/lighten sanctions on iraq...late 90's-2000.foreign
corporations/companies wanted to do business in iraq
this was one of the reasons bush was in such a hurry.
the other reason i believe was saddam using basket of currency for trade/purchase of petro....u.s.,u.k and israel didn't like saddam nationalizing the oil....it gave them some power. in some respect oil is israel biggest threat....this was ongoing perpetual politicization.
i apologize for being off topic but i am hoping this will be of enough interest to overcome that liability ...
i discovered a very interesting blog earlier this evening called "mahler's prodigal son" (http://mahlersprodigalson.blogspot.com/) which, among other things, provided a link to foreign policy magazine's list of the world's worst advisers.
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=4397
douglas j. feith numbers among the five world's worst advisers.

Obama understands Putins response was more honest then "Boosh Saakashvili's" homicidal clandestine midnight power grab.
FYI: Comedy Central is run by RETARDS who sniff your origin, and if you're not within the USA, you can't see their videos. As a consequence, all of your overseas audience and not so overseas (as in Canada/Mexico) cannot see the video. So, reading what you typed is nice and the comments are fun, but I can't watch the video. Because Comedy Central Sucks Ass.
Lies & Impeachment Program
Don't give me no LIP, cuzzz...
We find out these FACTS, ...then write books, ...make jokes, ...and blog about it till the cows come home, ...and NOTHING else that is SUPPOSED\REQUIRED to be done, BY LAW, is ever done.
Afterwards, we move on to the next atrocity in line. Write books, tell jokes, etc.,...NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT!
How must the facts be presented, before they are acted upon in the proper legal procedure? I will gladly provide the silver platters, if that is what's necessary.

If I had to put my faith and trust in just one person it would be Scott Ritter.

how fxxking convenient.....behind closed doors(NEOCONS) it's we are superior and the masses don't understand.
saddam was lying through his teeth to keep iran off his back. bush administration said he had al queda links now they are trying to back away from that also. saddam wasn't going to get a nuke not even the suitcase version.
they looked everywhere for those WMD's even in his mouth with that pen light. saddam got played.. over the years the cia knows it. iraq was easy pickens.

Jo @ 18:
Don't forget Richard Clark and Paul O'Neil.
It doesn't seem to matter how much evidence there is against this adminitration, as nothing happens to them. It's good to be the king. Well, not good for most of us, of course. How did the citizens become so marginalized in a democratic republic?
Ron @ 22:
What? You mean you wouldn't put your faith in Wolfowitz or Perle or Brownie?
Ron @ 22:
Never! In fact, I have their books, too.

For the most part I would agree with your support of Scott Ritter. However, he said something while on a program recently on Free Speech TV that really rankled me. At the end of a speech that he had given at a bookstore, he fielded questions from the audience. Near the end of the questions, a gentleman who belongs to Veterans for Peace asked Ritter why more soldiers in the military are not speaking out against the occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq. Ritter gave the bizarre reply, in a somewhat rambling answer, that while the GI movement was justified during the Vietnam War it would be better [why he did not say] for civilians to speak out instead of the soldiers. Ritter's statement makes absolutely no sense since the occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq are just as illegal as was the Vietnam War and which therefore gives the soldiers today just as much of a right to say that they will not participate in the subjugation of the Iraqi and Afghani people as the soldiers who had the courage and moral fortitude to speak out against the Vietnam War and the subjugation of the Vietnamese people those many years ago.
L.A. Confidential @ 24:
paul o'neil just couldn't believe how inadequate bush was as president.......totally over his head i realized it in 2000...i still can't believe people voted for him.
Erroll @ 27:
Errol, you might look into what ahs happened to the soldiers who have spoken out.
Fucking Impeach these motherfuckers. I'm sorry for the wording, but this is our country and our future. Justice is necessary.
Erroll @ 27:
It is an odd answer. Maybe he is alluding to "friendly fire" on those courageous soldiers who speak out. We can only guess that if it happened to Tillman, it has happened to others.
The Boosh Legacy
AMY GOODMAN: Can you talk about significance of this, in terms of nuclear warfare in Russia? Do we have anything to fear along those lines?
COL. SAM GARDINER: Absolutely. Let me just say that if you were to rate how serious the strategic situations have been in the past few years, this would be above Iraq, this would be above Afghanistan, and this would be above Iran.
On little notice to Americans, the Russians learned at the end of the first Gulf War that they couldn’t—they didn’t think they could deal with the United States, given the value and the quality of American precision conventional weapons. The Russians put into their doctrine a statement, and have broadcast it very loudly, that if the United States were to use precision conventional weapons against Russian troops, the Russians would be forced to respond with tactical nuclear weapons. They continue to state this. They practice this in their exercise. They’ve even had exercises that very closely paralleled what went on in Ossetia, where there was an independence movement, they intervene conventionally to put down the independence movement, the United States and NATO responds with conventional air strikes, they then respond with tactical nuclear weapons.
It appears to me as if the Russians were preparing themselves to do that in this case. First of all, I think they believe the United States was going to intervene. At a news conference on Sunday, the deputy national security adviser said we have noted that the Russians have introduced two SS-21 medium-range ballistic missile launchers into South Ossetia. Now, let me say a little footnote about those. They’re both conventional and nuclear. They have a relatively small conventional warhead, however. So, the military significance, if they were to be conventional, was almost trivial compared to what the Russians could deliver with the aircraft that they were using to strike the Georgians.
I think this was a signal. I think this was an implementation on their part of their doctrine. It clearly appears as if they expected the United States to do what they had practiced in their exercises. In fact, this morning, the Russians had an air defense exercise in the southern part of Russia that borders Georgia in which they—it was practicing shooting down incursion aircraft that were incursion into Russia. They were prepared for the United States to intervene, and I think they were prepared—or at least they were wanting to show the United States that their doctrine of the use of tactical nuclear weapons, if the US attacks, was serious, and they needed to take—the United States needs to take Russia very seriously.
speaking of liars a POW mate of mccain calls mccain a liar....alittle off topic but it's interesting...this guy is a retired marine colonel and lawyer. he has some words for mccain he should get some air time

“The White House is intensely interested because there may be a legality that has Constitutional consequences.”
Yeah, but we have a Congress that has completely abdicated its role. I got to thinking about this the other day, and when people like Pelosi say, "Wait until we have a Democratic President," I get to wondering.
Having a Democratic President isn't going to matter. Having a 60-vote majority might, but the i3 train (investigation, impeachment and incarceration) left the station a long time ago. All they're doing now is sitting on their thumbs waiting for what?
Nothing's gonna happen.

The level of stupidity of our dumbass in chief is fucking scary.
We'll be lucky to get out of this just being broke.
mudshark @ 35:
Simply put, the US has 'normalized' the possible use of nuclear weapons in a conflict. This means that in any conflict between the US and Russia, the Russians must assume, within the context of nuclear hair-trigger alerts, that any particular US bomb or attack could be a nuclear one.
Ugly stuff. And where just considered disposable fodder to these nitwits. Imagine if McCain gets in this November.
i have an understanding for checks and balances in government but he hasn't existed and the bush administration set it up that way once they declared war.
bush doesn't and didn't listen to the legislative branch. they have been two-three steps ahead of this paper thin majority. with a (R) majority 2000-2006 a lot of damage was done. currently the (R) have a record for number of filibusters. i don't think some people realize what the legislative branch is up against....veto...
filibuster,secrecy....signing statements.....it's not like anything seen before. blaming the current congress is difficult for me to do...bush still has them by the nads.
L.A. Confidential @ 32:
Apparently the Georgians ALSO expected the US and/or NATO to back them up.
NY Times (Aug 10): On Slog to Safety, Seething at West
Who told these Georgian soldiers that the US or NATO would back them up?
Did the Bush-Cheney Gang tell Saakashvili the US would back him up ?
Did Saakashvili simply decide on his own that the US would back him up?
Or was this false assurance some black-op covert action by the US, or Russia, or who?
MountainMan23 @ 38:
The White House probably hinted at help (wanting Georgia in NATO) and Saakashvili rolled the dice. Maybe he's an arrogant prick, maybe he feared Russia badly and anticipated a similar event whether he started it or not... Who knows?
MountainMan23 @ 39:
Some mercenaries were killed in the conflict that some thought may be Americans.
constituent @ 38:
I agree. And the fact that the Rs put party before country and Constitution and treat Bush as if he were a king, well.........
mudshark @ 36:
And yet the big question in the American Media today (other than who has won how many medals) is, "How should we punish Russia?"
Maybe we could get Europe to stop buying gas from Russia ?
err ..
MountainMan23 @ 42:
Sure, we all know how much the US is responsible with natural resources...
MountainMan23 @ 42:
If things go nuclear, punishment will be equally divided between us and Russia, with the rest of the world thrown in as a bonus.

I am well aware of the soldiers who, as Jo has correctly observed, have had the courage to speak out and as a consequence some of them, such as Camilo Mejia and Kevin Benderman, have been jailed for their beliefs. The reason that they have done this, of course, is that they realize that they, like their predecessors during the Vietnam War, could not in good conscience live with themselves if they were to continue to be part of an organization, i.e. the military, which brutalizes and terrorizes the citizens of Afghanistan and Iraq. The best way to halt these most unnecessary occupations is to have it happen from within. It happened during the Vietnam War and it can certainly help enormously to bring an end to the illegal and immoral occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Erroll @ 45:
With the corrupt administration we have in office right now, it will never happen. Viet Nam soldiers didn't have to worry about the likes of Blackwater. Give them a break. Lay off blaming the victims damnit.
Ron @ 46:
This is a very important point. Blackwater. They like the kill. Doesn't matter which side as long as they are paid.
Ron @ 46:
Victim is a relative term. By forsaking your morals to keep your job, you lose your opportunity to be called a victim.

Pelosi = Bush's best friend forever. as she too wipes her feet on the constitution.
Ron @ 46:
You believe that American soldiers are the victims? I suggest that you try making that astounding statement to the Iraqis, 1.2 million of them who have ended up killed due to their country being invaded by the Americans, 2 million of them being displaced from their homes and 2 million more fleeing to other countries, and God knows know how many more who have died because of disease, illness and starvation. Or try making that statement to the victims in Afghanistan, such as those members of the wedding parties [at least four times since 2001] who had 500 lb. American bombs dropped on them. Or do their voices and screams of agony and mercy and their mutilated bodies not count because their faces are brown? Those American victims, as you call them, can be genuine heroes by declaring that they will no longer participate in the rape and pillage and destruction of the Iraqi and Afghani people. Vietnam soldiers [by that convoluted statement, I assume that you mean American soldiers, since the Vietnamese were busy defending their country, as are the Iraqis and Afghanis, from the American military] "only" had to worry about ending up in a military prison, which many of them did, because they had the courage and integrity to speak out against American imperialism. The hope is that more American soldiers will continue to emulate the example of the GI rebellion that took place those many years ago because of what the United States is unjustifiably doing to the Iraqi and Afghani people.

One thought, afterburner, has it been a while since you last updated your browser's Flash plugin? If so, it just could fix your problem. Or your provider is part of the axis of evil and executing two-tiered internet.
It's not the Flash plugin... it's Viacom blocking Comedy Central videos in Canada (I can't speak to Mexico or other countries).
This is an outrage!
I demand congress send a sternly worded letter
IMMEDIATELY!
Whew, finally. A sternly worded letter is solid action we can all get behind. Our long national nightmare is over.
Brad's Blog has the video posted of this and it is priceless!
Everywhere Pelosi goes to promote her new book, Impeachment advocates show up demanding that she read the articles of Impeachment which she refuses to do. Its about time that she got an earful from the people!

none of this shit matters, because i am he fan of a band called incubus, and they make me wanna unplug
I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that nothing will be done about the criminal Bush administration. With every new allegation, it's just one more big yawn from the MSM and populace at large. So, who cares if our leaders act outside the law and lie to the American people? And obviously, if McSame gets elected, EVERYTHING will be swept under the carpet.
Nancy Pelosi needs to be replaced. She continues not to do her job.
A "letter" is not all they fabricated! If we inaugurate the right people in January, namely Obama/Biden, I think we will see something BETTER than impeachment! Patience people. We have waited this long. What's another 4-1/2 months?
One reason many soldiers haven't spoken up is because they are all "volunteers", the republicans would just slime them put them in jail and say "they volunteered," note to younger readers there used to be something in the US called the "draft."
"Walking around with a lump in the chest". Yeah, I KNOW the feeling!
Question: "Psssst, have you been to any funerals"?
Answer: "No, I have not".
If Bushco is going to be brought to justice, it's first going to be necessary to remove the criminal Pelosi from office. She is using the power of her office to obstruct justice and abet crimes. Like bush, et al, she belongs in prison.
L.A. Confidential @ 6:
Exactly. The Bush cabal is notorious for cutting loose anyone who no longer serves a purpose for them.
They missed the most important P.S. in the Habbush ( Hab-Bush?) letter- that Dick Cheney "was an awesome shot and Mohammed Atta was afraid of his mad hunting skills!"
Ever since we learned Pelosi gave the silent nod to waterboarding - she has been a co-conspirator. Why the hell you think she didn't leave impeachment on the table?
Intentionally fabricating false evidence to justify an invasion... And that's not impeachable?
Nancy, just what nation do you serve?
