After pronouncing himself a mainstream pundit, Pat Robertson took after liberals for their nerve to want health care for everyone. And a clean environment. And more.
Join me, fellow liberals, in celebrating our new designation as zealots, at least according to the Gospel of Pat Robertson.
RightWingWatch caught him ranting at us all for the subversive act of wanting everyone to have access to health care. Oh no! Liberals and zealots and bears!
First, he goes off on Democrats for wanting to take over health care instead of leaving it to the insurers with some kind of market-based solution. Ahem.
Robertson began his rant by falsely claiming that the Affordable Care Act is a government takeover of the health care system: “The government shouldn’t be providing health care, that’s not their job; the government should make an opportunity for the private sector to provide [health insurance].” (Of course, that is exactly what the Affordable Care Act does by establishing private health insurance exchanges.)
But my fellow liberals, he was just getting started. I'm not sure if you knew this, but the Man Who Is On Government-Run Medicare thinks liberals are out to drain "the health supply of our entire nation."
“This thing has been an absolute disaster,” Robertson continued. “The president has been willing to destroy the health supply of our entire nation to accommodate the left-wing, this is left-wing ideology and we’ve got to resist it. You’ll find it in terms of the labor market, you’ll find it in terms of environmentalism. The left are people who are filled with this righteous zeal, they’re zealots and they don’t have a balanced perspective on life. Whenever they get in charge of something, they ruin it.”
I don't know about that. I would think the unbalanced perspective on life would be one where someone thinks a zealot is someone who wants everyone to have access to health care. But that's just me. For Pat, the environmentalists, the gays, and the liberals who believe in social justice are frothing zealots ripping apart our "health care supply."
David Brooks wants PBS viewers to believe that because the Obama administration agreed to change some of the rules on the ACA mandates, now Democrats are going to make the law "go away" by getting rid of them altogether. Read more...
