Watch how happy he is when he says he'll send all those refugees fleeing war and famine back to the hellhole they came from. Then listen to the cheers when he says it. Twice.

Just as a reminder, Trump is the grandson of a German immigrant who came to the United States in 1885.

The Know-Nothing Party ultimately failed at mid-century to stop the immigration of both Irish and Germans. And because they failed, Frederich Christ Trump could immigrate to America in 1885. That decade, 5.2 million immigrants arrived in the U.S., and 3.7 million immigrants arrived the next decade. The unskilled German laborers competed with Americans. The skilled German craftsmen competed with Americans. The German farmers competed with Americans.

Some of the Americans lost jobs or income.

President Obama has committed the US to accept 100,000 Syrian refugees from all countries for each of two years. 200,000 lucky people will be able to flee the bombs of their own government and the relentless persecution of ISIL in their homeland.

I can only hope that if there is ever a President Trump, other countries will be as generous in accepting American refugees.

(Edited for clarity on President Obama's statements re: refugees)

Update: Here is what the President actually tweeted about refugees.
