In the latest edition of "things people wish they hadn't tweeted" please view this shockingly tasteless tweet regarding Tammy Duckworth:

tammy

This tweet was sent out from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (a verified account) regarding Democratic Senate candidate from Illinois, Tammy Duckworth earlier today. It was deleted, but not before we got a screencap.

Tammy Duckworth served in the Iraq War as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot and after suffering severe combat wounds, lost both of her legs and damaged her right arm. Refusing to retire from national service, she was granted a medical waiver and continued to serve in the Illinois Army National Guard. She eventually retired from the Army in October 2014. She is a legitimate badass. This woman didn't let losing two limbs stop her from dedicated her career to helping others.

Duckworth was the first disabled woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and took office in January 2013.
