Urgent Message For Hosni Mubarak

President Mubarak, you misunderstand America. Sure, we are historically willing to accommodate dictators, we have endorsed and supported your corrupt regime to serve perceived strategic interests. But even at our most cynical, we have our limits.

You, sir, have crossed a line our country will not abide. It's hard to deny the awe-inspiring power of a unified democratic uprising, and Egypt deserves real elections. And you need to get out of the way before some really spectacular cheekbones are endangered.

And there are economic consequences for Americans. If something happens to the Silver Fox, what else have those poor folks at CNN got? Parker/Spitzer? PARKER F-ING SPITZER? Those people need to eat, they have families.

Everybody cool out.

burning kitchen!

Now, don't get me wrong, I like Coop. A lot.
And I think journalists's have every right to be there and report. THAT IS CRITICAL!

My problem is with all of these Anchor's putting on their gear and running to war zones and hurricanes.
Look, you get enough face time. Let some poor reporter who is there, and has been there and knows the situation report and get some airtime.
Who's going to be tougher to spot?
- A reporter who's been there and knows how to dress and act as he/she walks through the streets - along with a combo camera/audio person?
- Or,a star Anchor who has little or no knowledge of the people or geography, has multiple camera and audio people, make-up and wardrope folks, and security, as they all blunder through the streets like some sort of a well-lit media tank?

Again, I want Coop, and all of the others to report safely.
But, please, let the poor shlub who's been there for awhile get the airtime.
He/she will get better information, and they'll probably be much safer.
You'd think what happened to Bob Woodruff might make some Anchors and networks pause, but, it's still all part of the Macho-Anchor culture we call "News." So, until one of these Anchors (and, yes, I know a few other TV reporters have gotten killed and wounded over the last 10 years - but I'm talking the Anchor's) gets killed or maimed in action, I suppose it'll remain a staple of TV "news."
I keep waiting for one of these Anchor's to be beheaded.
No, not by a Muslim terrorist group, but by some flying debris in a hurricane they go to cover, and stand outside in 100+ mph howling winds.

I like to watch reporters who must've pissed off their producers reporting on an incoming hurricanes while hanging on for dear life from a palm tree.

A lot of the big news* organizations don't have much staff in overseas locations. Something about Americans not giving a yutz what happens in, you know, bumfuck Egypt, until something big happens, so why bother? Anyway AC is one of the better on the scene reporters, his work at the oil spill in the Gulf was very good, and he seems to know how to find his way around.

It is nice to see, in this complex world, that some people still understand priorities and what is really important and that is to laugh.

Send tha memo/comment to Mika of Morning Joe. They showed the skit Colbert did about Cooper last night and Mika didn't think it was funny. She said it was too soon after Cooper got beat up. I mean seriously, it was a joke Mika....a joke to take off some of the edge of what is going on.

How do I atone for hearing Walk like an Egyptian every time I see video of the mess over there? I just can't help it, it plays in my head.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

If you grow weary of Walk Like an Egyptian might I suggest Cairo by Amazulu or Egyptian Reggae by Johnathan Richman. You can find various editions on Youtube. Gotta love the dancing camel vesion of Egyptian Reggae

Especially those who've inherited their power, money and position.

Corruption favors the wealthy.

. . . may I suggest Page and Plant, UnLedded, doing Kashmir with a host of Egyptian musicians.

I was joking about it as soon as I saw Cooper's hair was unruffled.

Our local talk show host on KPOJ ran this this morning. Second City is the best!

Short message to Mubarak.

Get the fuck out.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

The local casualties have been mounting to the hands of Mubarak's thugs for a while now, but it seems though shit only got real once they went for the American media.

I wish I thought this was funny. But in the midst of dozens of deaths and the oppression of millions, this just reads like stupid American narcissism. And a complete waste of time.

Especially a Bordeaux Nar in a cooler vintage. It combines all the clueless arrogance of a Deep South varietal with an under-taste of boredom as well as a strong smoky wave at the front.

I'm just saying. They no doubt support what little "dick" Armey supports so they probably like Hosni Mubarak. OMG! Did you notice that barak is part of his name???!!!

"2211: For those of you deeply into US politics, Sarah Palin is due to make a speech to the Young America's Foundation, and Time magazine reckons she'll weigh into the debate about Egypt."

Yeah, well, if so i'm sure it's going to be "good".
