Mike is playing Hammond Organ for Joe Cocker in the Swiss Alps. That is not an April Fool's joke.

It's still all one big lie
Wipe off the smear and cheer up! Put on a happy face blah blah

Give Joe Cocker some love from me. The 1969 LP is one of the greatest rock albums of all time but it's great that he's still working.
But Uriah Heep? Srsly?
DAMN! I'd sure like to be at that Crocker show! And with Uriah Heep there too it's a double damn I can't make it.

"I can make a firm pledge," he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."
He repeatedly vowed "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime."
smoker
smokers are a tax on everyone. healthCare issues like chronic conditions related to smoking and/or
worsened by smoking have been passed on to the entire public by way of increased healthCare cost.
there are also many households with smokers and non-smokers(children) where the latter are exposed to second hand smoke. this of course has been proven to be a burden on the exposed child and the payers of healthCare. smoking has been a NET liability(health/cost) to the public as a whole.
and alcohol.
eating in this day and age are enough to bring on mass extinction of the species.
no doubt diet is an issue but much more complex with many variables. very difficult for anyone with appropriate grey matter to argue that smoking cigarettes has been nothing but a NET liability. 9 out of 10 people will agree smoking/second hand smoke is adverse to ones health. that's across all adult education levels. diet is much more complicated across all education levels. if your trying to say what about food, lets start with cigarettes a proven TAX on the entire public through the cost shift from chronic conditions to the paying insurance and TAX payer subsidized programs. smokers need to take more of the cost burden.
One could argue the distinction between diet and cigarettes as one could cars and a gun.
Although both can potentially kill, if you use the former correctly that's not the case; but in the case of the latter, there is no correct way, because it's designed to kill.

bg, you're always so generous and thoughtful. i so much appreciate the link to my little blog;we're both a bit overwhelmed by the attention. james
"what we used to" brought some back some nice memories. those gleaming hardwood floors i miss them.
Thanks for highlighting poetry month. I'll be posting more on it during April.
Of course Mike is playing Hammond for Joe Cocker. Mike is one of the best, and I've known him since he played in the house band (The Nubugaloo Express) in a sleazy dive called The Lion's Share about 40 years ago, where I ran the sound system. Mike always called me Charlie Tuna, although that's not my real last name.
Bill Champlin told me a pretty funny story about Mike and Ringo Starr. Ask Mike why he didn't get the gig for Ringo's tour.
Sounds like the perfect provocation for me to haul out my volumes of Shakespeare, Plath, Sexton, etc.
I've written off writing my own work for the forseeable future...
