Okay first for the "assault weapon" ban the weapons that is restricts are no different(except cosmetically) than any other semi-auto firearm. And the "Gun show loophole" isn't really a loophole it doesn't regulate private party transactions. Same as me selling to my neighbor. Dealers with a FFL are required to fill out all forms and do a nics check no matter where they are. And to purchase a full-auto weapon by a civilian in the US requires at least 2 background checks, one by the police in the area you live and one done by the FBI. And that applies to purchases from private sellers as well as dealers. Which from what I've heard usually takes at least 6-8 weeks and its not uncommon for it to take 10-12. Along with purchasing a $200 tax stamp. And that is on top of the going rate for a full auto rifle which is 10k on up. You can get a few sub guns in pistol cartridges for 6-7k. Seems like it would be much easier, cheaper and faster for the Cartels to get their weapons from the corrupt military and police. Wouldn't you think?

I've been interested in visiting Havana for some time now (but I live on the other side of the globe, and there is much to see here.) If it is going to be overrun with Americans soon, I won't bother. Next there'll be Havana Disney and... it'll lose all of its charm. Sad. My Canadian friends love Cuba.

yes edwin id like to visit cuba myself ,my nephew is a history teacher whos fluent in spanish and allso teaches it to, and he used to go thru mexico to get there , guess that was the only exit since the embargo of tourists to that country, jesus im an old fiftys car buff , id go just to see them , i hope you get to go there someday and thnx for the defence from the concern trolls ! i know i may seem bulldogish in my contempt for the corporate goons who run this country, but i dont compramise in my beliefs for an honest america , just as i never give up in anything i do i wont be run off by the botts , as for being baited by some of these jerks on my education they wont silence me either , i dont hate people with a good education just the moles who flaunt it in your face, i allways wonder how they think they represent the ones who had less education , i guess thats where we get politicians from ,
When I came to Korea, it was an easy knee-jerk reaction to assume, "these people must be stupid." After all, they can't even understand me, and don't use English (well). I knew that WAS NOT TRUE.
I suppose my point is, I learned I had to grow, to look deeper inside myself, I had to try to understand others, and to see their points of view as being as valid as my own, not simply dismiss them. (Unless of course they are right-wing trolls spewing Hannity talking points. You are not that!!) I know everyone will not agree, and that's just fine with me. I'd be saddened if we did all agree. How banal that would be.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good sparring match, even thrive on one, but not if it gets to name calling and childish insults, quite beyond the topic being discussed.
I was disappointed to see a clique forming yesterday.
PS Oh, and I do use a lot of "fancy words". I can't help it: they just spill out: it's just me. It's not pretense. I just dig the English language; so rich. My mother is a walking dictionary and I am an ESL teacher. I study English every day. I luvs me dictionary too. I'm a huge fan of crosswords and do them every day, as well.
Don't let people get your goad. Pay not heed to it. It's a lot easier to rise above it and move on. Let people have the last word-- who cares? Better on your nerves too.

well edwin i agree with you to acertain extent , but as a kid dureing ww2 my cherokee features high cheekbones and black hair plus the slanted eyes of that race only got me insults from the school bullys , i was a jap , and all i got was grief or beat up by these pricks , ..... untill i had enough and fought back ,since then the bullys of this world can kiss my ass , what i dont understand is ........ why these crap for brains call a poster names in defence of a dam politician who wouldnt pick thier ass up off the street if a car hit them jesus these people are freaks , and in desperate need of muskrat love!
