By bluegal Wednesday Nov 05, 2008 8:30pmI never get tired of watching this. Anyone here think we're done now?
Remember that at least 18 Republicans (including John McCain) are up for reelection in 2010 and if any of them participate in filibusters in the next two years, we in the blogosphere will be doing more than shouting from our windows.

GOP Seeks Reparations for Obama’s Election
...lying in the street, yelling, bleeding, dying. Hey you Jim Crow Party members out there...you people and your ideas are fucking dead...and you stupid fucks are too blind with rage to see it. The Nation is diverse now , and things won't turn back! Sorry.
their brains are tuned to some frequencies that are in the dog spectrum. They see their defeat as something from the outside, the Dems destroyed them for within by some nefarious methods/
I somehow thing i'm talking nonsense, right is wrong and verse-visa
they still have the media and the electronic voting machines
limbaugh already has vowed that obama is not his president or some such.
in jail for being a traitor... right where he belongs!
Send recordings of yourself saying the same thing Beale says to every right-wing radio & TV show in the country...
Flood their databases and let them know what we really think of their shenanigans.
HILARIOUS revelations from the McCain campaign about Palin's stupidity; e.g., she didn't realize Africa is a continent (not a country), and she didn't know what countries are in NAFTA.
The best part: this was revealed on a Fox news broadcast!
How come they don;t see Reality when it is front of them.
what am i missing?
You see the truth. They don't
as faux tosses palin under the bus...and then rolls over her body repeatedly
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/05/pali...
loofa boy does his best to defend her...cuz he still hopes to get a chance at sniffin them panties
I watched. Can you imagine McCain kept foisting her on us, knowing all of this? Unbelievable: he's more craven than I thought.
Palin: "Africa isn't a country?? Who knew?"
Don't you wonder that they are trying to make Palin look bad, to save McCain's reputation and the Republicans (over at Fox)? It's what I think.
PS Now I don't have to be Edwin Hussein any more. Mission Accomplished. No, really ...this time.
you actually made me gag!
Palin panties....*yurk!*
I for one cant wait until obama gives us, the "American people a mission, something we can get involveed in to bring the country back on it feet and regain out standing. I'm ready, I'll do Peace corps work, just tell me where,
sorry if the booze is talking, but i;m sinseer,
and there is more juicy dirt to be revealed soon on Palin.
Delicious!
Jesus Fucking Christ! The election is OVER! get ready to roll up your sleeves and get America back! Who the fuck cares about Palin? Come on! get moving!
and I can't help America. I just watch and enjoy the various entertaining spectacles that are always in play.
It seems like we're never satisfied. Maybe Phil Graham is right.
We're a bunch of whiners.
Ironically, the only whining I see is courtesy of Uncle Dave. :o)
was with the unprovoked personal attack against me in the Tim Robbins thread?
When you feel the need to apologize, I'll consider accepting.
and happy tomorrow but the honeymoon will be short and we need to hold all levels of government accountable. The hard work has yet to begin. Undoing 8 years of BushCo. alone is going to be a difficult task, repairing the constitution, dealing with both wars, righting our relationship with the other humans on the planet, and finding a way to put Cheney, Bush, Rove, and the rest in prison while still healing the country. Ford was weak when he pardoned Nixon. I don't want Obama to focus on what happens to BushCo. but I hope he doesn't get in the way when Kucinich and others do.
no letting reid and pelossi pull shtick
no window dressing stim packages that do nothing
no caving to the drill now crowd
rebuild the infrastructure
renegotiate all trade agreements...if they are charging import tarriffs...we need to match them...that will increase the treasury...it will also force companies to bring back manufacturing jobs to the states
and so on, and so forth
restore the middle class...then eat the rich
nice to-do list!
Kucinich. That's the ticket. that'll heal the country. that'll get the markets up.Trials. Revenge. Hangings in the town sqaure for all to see. Yeah. that'll get the country moving. That will allow credit to flow. An 18th century terror. Yup. Good thinking there poindexter.
Like those goddamned Nuremburg Tribunals! What a pathetic waste of time and money! Right, Gramps? Right. Now take your pills, like the good doctor said. Don't make us have to haul you down from the book depository again!
... take a deep breath and go back on your medication. Your tossing around personal attacks like your in grade school. That sort of defensiveness is never appreciated.
Gay activists are going to continue taking Cali's homophobic props to court. [I'll try to acknowledge the positive of Cali standing up for animal rights, at least.]
Rove actually believes that the Repugs have a chance in 2010. Ms. Cooper gets special mention from Barry.
Russia wants to re-occupy Poland.
Recount in Minnesota.
Sheehan's "concession" statement to Pelosi.
do not blame californians for the misleading advertising...those fucks put obamas pic on their mailings and sent them out to minority communities
and i didnt like the animal rights thing....not at a time when our economy is in taters...last thing we need is biz to be leaving the state...which some have already threatened to do
so they go to another state where they dont give shit one about cruelty to chickens...its gonna happen
fox
cnn
msnbc
will all keep these shits on screen
beck is now on fox, msnbc still has scarboro
there will be no let-up
but we know that already.
in cinema. I think Obama said'well, here is your answer' last night/this morning. His face told it all. His humility and the realisation of enheriting a great big mess. BUT he can lead US. We can lead again and take despair and turn into a better world. Not a perfect world-but better.
Looks like enabling Bush didn't
pay off for News Corp.
HE SHOULDN'T BE PAYING THE DUMBSHITS HE HAS HIRED, so fucking much.
reverse midas touch!
I like that.
;<[)
The best example of truth in film the great scriptwriter Paddy Cheyevsky. Poor Peter Finch, I think this role was what killed him. He got the posthumous Oscar for this role. Not appreciated in his home country of Australia. I once worked for his relatives, they were not proud of Finch. I think they saw him as the black sheep of the family.
As if the filibuster is always wrong? Or is it that it's only wrong if Republicans do it? There will be policies Democrats try to enact that should and hopefully will be filibustered; just as the converse is always true. Unless of course you're an ideologue and think only Democrats make correct decisions, are free from problems, and single party rule is healthy.
If we thought single party rule is healthy, the repugs would still have it.
OMG imagine if, like, Coke and Pepsi weren't exact opposites! It would be, like, TYRANNY, maaaan!
You need rest. i know it's hard when you stumble into something and get confused. talk to mom-she'll help.
sometimes stupid shit needs to be blocked
i say we go after the evil ones
bachmann needs to go in 2010...that would be a good start
fuck her!
or not?
is nothing more than kindergardeners throwing sand clods at each other. It's childish and boring. let a bill stand on it's own merits.
they did it to protect the people
the repugs have used it incorrectly, as a answer to what the dems did to judges
bush woulda vetoed everything anyway...but they wanted no recorded votes
but in the sceme of things it's just party politics and not doing the people's work.
They should reach across the aisle and act as one Bipartisan™ party to do the peoples' good work of funneling all the fruits of the peoples' blood, sweat and tears straight into the bottomless pit of the National Insecurity Industry. That'll bring prosperity!
Oh, wait ...
I support the filibuster, if only for the sake of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and "The Stackhouse Filibuster".

GEEK CULTURE RULES THE WORLD
WELCOME TO STAR WARS...FOR REAL
in awe of this election and moved to tears quite frequently. I'm 58 and have seen our country through many transformations, the worst was the last 8 years but I feel hope. Can we change? YES WE CAN.
answers to a higher calling. He has inspired me to get more involved. I am going to work to keep republicans from winning anything in 2010.
Ted Stevens is still LEADING by 3000+ votes. WTF? Does anyone have an update on this? That is insane. He's a convicted felon!
http://mudflats.wordpress.com/ has all the scoop on Senator Ted. Race isn't over, 50K mailin ballots still not counted.
now we know how palin got elected. compared to stevens, she IS a straight shooter. it must be the combination of global warming and all the oil/gas fumes in the air up there.
what? you had higher expectations?
Friend you got a good point. But how do we convince people that live in a red state like I do to put pressurer on their republican representative? I live in redneck state of TN. I support but you gotta tell me how.
Can anyone help direct this person?
Direct him to what? the people have spoken. Don't like it? Move.
that voters have no rights inTN?
It's there, I promise you. Get involved. Run for office, even if it is just the school board to start... yes, you can.
Your democratic party near where you live.
is like putting your hand in a pool of piranas. I'd suggest education and lifting the entire state away from bigotry-which would take a lifetime.
Uncle Dave, he's got to start somewhere.
My bad. I wish him well.
I seem to remember that Al Gore was once a Senator and VEEP from Tennessee...
I was wrong. Next...
are mad as hatters and we don't have to take it any more.
fox is reporting that mccain campaign people/Palin handlers say Palin was difficult. they say she
did NOT know africa was a continent and did NOT know the countries that make-up NAFTA. apparently
mccain did NOT know about the expensive shopping spree. the campaign thought mccain would be against it. fox says that OBAMA actually started upward in the polls after katie couric interview with Palin.
Pailn refused interview prep. there's more......
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/05/pali...
and a first-class liar. She denied any conflicts with the McCain campaign in an interview today. Randy Scheuneman, McCain's main guy, got fired a week ago because of her. I'd be very interested to hear his side of the story.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
This was interesting to me. Look at the photo. Doesn't he kind of look like the First Dud?
What's important to me about all this "McCain staff eats itself" info is that, the more it comes out, the more damaged Palin would be for a run in 2012.
i agree. to me it's NOT a total waste of time especially right now to further expose mccain/Palin.
Palin may try to some how get that senate seat in alaska. Palin represents the hate/dislike
for intellect. Palin fits well into the newt gingrich strategy to beat dems/liberals at all costs. this
has to end. Obama is a great start.
who cares. this country needs healing and fast. Now
I've read numerous opinions that Palin is "The Future of the Republican Party."
Krugman's recent piece The Republican Rump says Palin and her ilk are just about all the Republicans have left.
They're the most virulent of the lot.
We'd best find out all we can.
as Senator. I wish it weren't true, because I think he long since stopped representing AZ and 850 K voted for Obama.
about the comments and concerns here. hello! the election IS OVER. Last I looked We got a mandate to harness our energy and bring back our America. Yet... what do I see ? what do I read ? Same stuff I've read for months-'Fuck Mccain fuck Palin' HELLO knock knock. it's time for action people! It's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. OR are the people here just talkers behind 'handles' and just as bad as the Thugs? 'I have mine' get with it people. Time for action. Talk is OVER
Dave, I think the action has, indeed, started.
Can we have one day to enjoy what we accomplished, though? I don't think that's asking too much. Most of us here worked our asses off. And we will, of course, some more.
But enjoy it how? Insult Palin? Insult rePugs? They need insults, but so what? How bout we enjoy our accomplishments by gathering positive vibes and an out ward outlook. Personally, these threads are boring. it's time to move. Now.
G'nite everyone.
Robert. You good guy.
Dave, this is an open thread.
If you're not happy, start your own blog.
I see new names here and they try to dominate the the conversation. Who TF are you?
I know that. I state my comments and others respond. I think that's called discussion. and btw- I am very happy. You aren't a very good sooth sayer.
amen to that!
It's time to raise hell until our elections are no longer run by private machines with private secret software. That's the bottom line. And the election ain't over. We currently have 57 seats in the Senate with three outstanding races yet to be determined. So chill out and do what you need to do and let us do what we do. There's plenty more fighting to be done.
Reminds me of last night. I was watching ABC coverage of the election and when Gibson said "ABC News is now ready to project that Barack Obama will carry the State of California, carry other states in the West. Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States. Barack Obama has been elected president." I live in DC and had my windows open, there was a light drizzle going on outside and I heard screaming and yelling coming out of many windows! A few seconds later, fireworks. After that, champagne corks popping.
Not an angry moment (unless you happily live in Red State World) but just as much energy... in a happy moment.
live in Red state world. I celebrated in my own way. I raised a brand new USA flag over my motel just after those words'barack Obama has been elected to president of the United States of America'and then i cried like a baby for about an hour.
Thank you, I sat here by myself and applauded.
a celbration sucks if it's only one person.
I had thousands throughout the country with me.
indeed we did. Did someone say i needed my own blog? I thought I was being in the spirit of an 'open thread'. I mean, everyone here knows I talk too much Hee hee.
I don't think so.
some guy thought I should go away. anyway,I love ya Ron and all the others here at CL. It's nice to talk amoung friends.
Most of us remain as friends here, even if sometimes we disagree.
I cried my eyes out last night. After 8 years of being ashamed of my country,I was so proud.
a good debate until it gets personal. Most people her are good folks. sometimes ya get someone who just wants blow up his ego. Then I push back. sometimes I get introuble LOL
We the people, totally agree.
Hey,it's great to debate.I live in Floriduh where people debate all the time about sports. It's great. It's fun,as it should be.
we're the only ones Here here here(echo in a cave)everyone must be tired.
Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello!
we're getting squeezed agin ron. I'll wish you a g'night and happy tomorows.
I was going to suggest that you check with Baby Jesus and have a swig of whatever he was drinking last night to calm you down but you seem to have now come to your senses.
We just want to enjoy the election afterglow, that's all. Indulge us!
I never lost my senses. I am very calm. An 'election afterglow' is what I am feeling. Bringing up McCain and Palin for derision is stupid.
well deserved. we're not the only ones reflecting on
some history/strategy
derision is over. if someone wants to discuss someone's impact on the future is fine with Me.
and you're someone whose impact on the future of this thread is making me leave now.
Ta-Ta! Sweet dreams!
who tells me how i should feel about my nation. don't cha just love it when someone else lectures you about how you feel and think? I do. I love it.Some smarmy pasty white sun deprived person has the sand to tell you what to do and how to think? It;s a wonderful day when that happens. It helps me greet the sun tomorrow knowing some commenter here knows me and what's best for me. That's a great day.
any such thing.
I'll find a maple leaf, stick a pin through it and wave it merrily as i go about my day. That'll do the trick.I sure of it.
You seem like a nice guy, UncleDave.
Good night, my friend.
to YOU my friend.
i have a good night calgarylady.
your input is appreciated. well
you know that you've been here
for awhile. good guest on charlie
rose
thank you for those kind words.
Time to be positive. Time to get US out of Iraq and put that money to Our use. Time to encourage wall street to invest in tommorow's growth RIGHT HERE. Time to transfer OUR money to productive, not destructive uses. Time to harness all ways of supplying energy- a diversive energy economy. Time to heal our fractured ties with old allies, and a new way of dealing with enemies.
"Time to heal our fractured ties with old allies, and a new way of dealing with enemies."
You mean like lurking around in forums like a jealous old boar guarding his own personal turf, just for the "healing" act of slapping people down whenever they dare to bring up something that you, personally, don't feel like discussing?
Yeah, that's real "positive," Uncle Dave.
I agree with many of the sentiments here - THE ELECTION IS OVER.
Stop worrying about McCain and Palin, and start worrying about Mitch McConnell, and the Republicans that might stand in the way of progress. It's going to be important to keep the heat on the press and the politicians if Obama is going to get anything accomplished.
Remember: The media has a very short attention span. They think this election was about "returning civility to America" What the press doesn't remember is that is the SAME THING that Bush said in 2000 and the press (and a spineless Congress) didn't make him keep his word.
The Republicans are out of power and they are going to kick, scream and whine about everything, and we have to keep reminding our representatives that they better get something accomplished, because
WE'RE MAD AS HELL, AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!
Time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.
the local paper says he won, very close about 300 votes. still scary.
This election is only the first shot fired in the new revolution. We still have other battles to fight to get our democracy back.
battles ahead... hey ron!
Love ya!
bud. I guess we were lonely in our joy,eh?
blvd in weho, all holding signs saying...."ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!!!"
i have never seen anything like this
after clinton won, there was more relief than anything
i have never seen so many people so hopeful for the future
i hope that obama understands what he is up against
he knows
Well, if you wanna get a little madder, the man isn't even in the WH yet, and 'Impeach Obama' groups are already hitting Facebook. Apparently, it's an impeachable offense to be elected president now. Who would have thought.
Featuring such bold proclamations as:
"There are a lot of Americans out there that do not fully understand the concept of Socialism or Communism..."
Indeed. Take these "impeach Obama" clowns for example.
"...which is why they've elected Obama as president,"
And there I was thinking it was because people gave your boys 8 years of absolute control, watched you shit on absolutely everything, then decided you could take a hike.
Piss off, you mean-spirited, narcissistic little reprobates. You had your time, and you brought ruin and sufferance with it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IAEPUTFMBg
this aint a stupid rock the vote commercial...this is real
Are you mad as hell about what the Bushies did to your country over the past eight years? Well, guess what: nobody cares. Yelling doesn't help, either.
Barack Obama just gave us a great big hint what the answer is. Get organized and get active. And never, ever stop, because as long as greed and ambition exist, there will be people that are willing to corrupt our system in their own favor.
Obama did us all a favor by snubbing the blogosphere. Our job isn't to be politicians, but rather to be the force that pushes politicians to do the right thing, or pushes the bad ones out.
Well, now it's time to start pushing president-elect Obama in the most liberal, progressive direction we can. Republicans are trying to push him towards Gerald Ford; we need to push him towards FDR. We can win if we work together and keep pushing. Obama taught us that. Now let's learn from him and use that knowledge to get the most out of the Obama administration.
Hello America!
I feel proud to be an American for the first time in a long time.

too bad i am departing soon. I stayed up til 4 am because I was afraid it all was a dream(we discussed this last night) anyway I have made some points here, and had some debates. Perhaps you could peruse them and expound as i sleep.
I can wish you a good rest. :)
Be well. :)
I can rest well. thank you.
and Gna. all the computor control is pissing me off tonight. everything is slow. The masters of the communication, "Corporate media still controls us".
Not a single one!
Controls us.
After Governor Napolitano kicks his ass in the 2010 Senate race.
She's a cabinet member, instead. :)
I want to watch Obama's Victory Speech over and over again,
As a white male, I'm embarrassed to say that if only white folks voted, McCain would have won.
If only the white folks voted it would be 1952.
The GOP will still be in the House of Representatives staging a walk out when in session and a sit in when the House is in recess trying to provide our hunger for 25% of the world's oil by drilling for our 4% of the world's supply.
OUCH...that'll leave a mark!!!
Palin ‘didn’t understand that Africa was a continent.’
There is going to be plenty of negative reaction to the obama message of unity and common purpose. The right wing extremists/racists will pretend to talk about economic and foreign policy issues as subterfuge for their white supremacy and cultural ethnocentrism. They've got to be engaged, talked down, confronted, and exposed.
btw, i heard this morning that the two would-be obama and african-american assassins were indicted on conspiracy to assassinate a presidential candidate.

i find it interesting that some here seem to beat thier chests all night long and want to control whats being discused on an open thread, i suppose when you found a new toy youve got to play with it and just wear it out without thinking others can have an opinion besides yourself , personaly id prefer reading posters that have a different viewpoint then everyone else, thats what an open threads all about right? myself even though i voted for obama im not going to cow down for him or any other politician, if we do that and dont question our leaders when we have a difference of opinion then were no better then the republicans , while its early in the game with obama elected as the next president and he hasnt taken office yet its not to early to question his picks for his cabinet or his stated policys, on his policy of creating green jobs and stopping the outsourcing jobs to china and india i think it falls far short of reality, for one we can create energy saveing products and thiers nothing to stop the corporations from shipping them to other countrys for thier cheap labor and he offers very little to keep other jobs here , the good paying jobs will still leave obama promosses thoes companys tax incentives that stay here while thoes companys will be looking at the countrys that have no benifits for its workforce , no social security no health benifits to pay, no unions to demand a desent wage for the workers, wheres the hammer you need to keep these corporations here , like telling them if you take american jobs away your days of shipping your products back to america is history ! and your products wont be allowed to be sold in america, now thats the incentive a corporation needs to stay in america anything less is pure garbage, i watched obamas victory speach tuesday night and he proclaimed that the world should still fear america , whats he saying ? that were going to defend ourselves or still be the worlds police force ? we cant afford it , and if he goes thru with keeping the war in afganistan going then hes only doing bushes bidding , thats not our war the only reason to stay there is because bushes objective of controling iraq completed his second objective was to secure that pipeline in afganistan, its bushes war not ours, afganistan will become the new and worse iraq the killing fields that became the nightmare for russia, freedom fighters from all over will flock there to fight us and the deaths will rise again , its a war that cant be won and is not woth the fighting!
That's why Senator Obabma is now President-Elect Obama. We're mad as Hell and We're not going to take this crap anymore. That's why the Republicans have lost so many seats in both houses. But don't expect too much, too soon. President Obama definitely has his work cut out for him. He has inherited a mess of monumental proportions. The only honeymoon he can expect is his Inauguration Ball, which, I think, We will paying for, by the way. I think President Obama will be a good man. Forgive me, but I can't help thinking of George W. Bush's words "If you only knew what I Know." Just keep in mind, after the euphoria has worn off, the mess that is going to be left behind by Dick & George and their band of criminals. Who knows, maybe President Obama will get mad as Hell and take legal action against them? Can a sitting Administration take legal action against it's predecessor? Has it ever been done? Can it be done? It should be done...because somebody still needs to pay for the unforgivable damage that has been done to Our country over the last eight years. Bush was constantly blaming the dem's for everything...now the shoe is on the other foot. Except this time any blame would be justified.
