is really at least a two-man job; even four-bangers are lots of work solo.
My advice is to get a couple of buddies, some good tunes, and lots of beer and make a weekend of it. I've never lost friends over wrenching on cars; always makes your friendships stronger.
"Parachutes are allowed in checked or carry-on baggage, but may not be worn in flight."
Alone it would take me 6 hours to pull, another 6 to tear down the engine assembly, then wait a week for machine shop, maybe 10 more hours to reasemble.
I used to put cars back together on Christmas...had to keep busy...
My wish is that people remove usurious lenders from their Christmas
list. In other words, don't subsidize these parasites that not too many years ago would have been called "loan sharks". Shop within your means, or in any event, under a 10% finance charge rate.
Just re-posting my rant from the Dean thread, for starters:
R.I.P. Democratic party Fri, 10/30/2009 - 12:54 — Tequila
They really don't seem to get that they won by default against Bush the way the Repugs won against Carter and won the mid-terms in '94. And they also forgot that the Repugs gradually lost support in the same way-by appeasing the most fundie elements in their party, rather than listening to their own base. In the Repugs' case, it was the religious, xenophobic gun nuts. In the Dems' case, it's the corporate cock-sucking anti-reformers. The difference is that the Repugs gradually embraced their true masters, while the Dems have been jumping on the "free" market bandwagon since they let Reagan run wild. But people were willing to overlook the fundies, as long as they saw some gains. The people aren't willing to let the robber-barons slide, though, if they don't get some of the loot, too. So even if the Dems win the mid-terms, and even '012, there's still only going to me so much bullshit the American people are willing to tolerate.
And the next Lamonts and Naders will be there to knock you down from the roots the way Dean toppled the Bush "landslide". If even Specter can't change his political stripes and win in the polls in his state, imagine how many people who've been DINO for a lot longer than him will be going down, if they don't get with the program.
You Dem fucks seem to forget that you've still won by significantly less votes than the FDR/Truman years, and that, even without a fourth Presidential term, you eventually went out of favor with the public over two previously unpopular wars. Christ, in 2000, you lost 5% of the vote to a guy who isn't even remotely as well-financed or well-known as you. And this was before the internet played a role in participation and awareness. We also took down Hillary and Joe, people who were once onsidered "unbeatable", and any one of you losers can be next. Now imagine what could happen if more Americans start getting over Obama being black, and start focusing on the issues again. Will you still be able to hide behind the "bi-partisan" meme by then, or will you be the next party to go down in flames?
Anyway, Finland's more prosperous than us. Now for a spooky story, a pregnant woman died of H1N1. Also, nine defective banks seized in one day: a new record, it seems. Oil companies continue to rip us off. There was in-fighting between the CIA and FBI over treatment of detainees. Cheney couldn't recall who outed Plame. The Prez and Senate agree to freedom of the press, except for cases of "national security". At least those "death panels" will be in the health bill. What's so bad about gun control, again? Fuzzy math, regarding stimulus jobs.
well, if you don't like what they do with
health care and the publice option, then
the 2010/2012 elections will be a great time
to prove to them, we don't support wuzzies and
liars.
I've already stopped voting for Pelosi and Feinstein. Next on my list is Wax-offman for fucking with Kucinich's bill. He already screwed me over on the subway, he's not getting another chance. On a related note, Tony also waits five years to tackle our shitty traffic.
Anybody wanna bet that Ron Paul's forecast on the economy will prove to be true???
I'm betting he'll be right.
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
We all know this economy will falter. It can't be fixed. Not with two wars going on. So, it's an easy guess for RP to take that position.
RP was for getting rid of the Dept of Ed. That's a stupid position to take. He was/is against these wars though. I wonder? Do you think he would have withdrawn all the troops immediately if he had won the Oval office? Or do you think once he was in there, and he was handed all the intel, do you think he would have been slow to make such a decision?
Oh, thank you abbyb. I got your message from the other night.
The premise that will be no recovery is correct but it needs a lot of explanation. Ron Paul is on the wrong tracks even though he is correct in that one sense.
There are loads of factual errors in the piece and from my perspective, loads of interpretive errors.
Hoover was an arch laissez faire guy before the crash and he stayed that way for the most part afterwards but the crash was not the real economy.
Then as now.
Before the 1920s working people didn't get loans. Through the 1920s they did and that blew up. There was no mechanism for the government to protect savings in Banks, capitalization levels were unchecked and the Banks were going bust by the trainload and so were their depositors.
Debt was the reality of working people, then as now and between that and the Banks going bust themselves took us down a spiral that led to the depression.
Towards the end of his term he came up with a state based jobs program that was promising. It did some good for some people but it was too late for Hoover and he had to go.
FDR called him a big spender (riots of laughter today) and won the election. It was a good thing he did. THough his programs were trial and error he hit on ones that worked. The WPA, Glass Steagall, FDIC, Social Security and the Wagner Act which finally brought the US into the civilized world as far as labor fairness was concerned.
Today we should repeat the WPA, we should reinstate Glass Steagall.
The banks after GS was repealed in '99 were fraud happy and they went bust. The big mistake was to bail them out the way we did. The ones that were insolvent, and they still are, needed to be taken over and broken up.
They also needed to be investigated for fraud and prosecuted where indicated. Instead we gave them a free lunch.
Basically today nothing in the big banks is fixed, they are more concentrated, more politically powerful and still insolvent. Though they have a ton of our cash.
All that suggests is another bust.
There are some convergence of terms with Ron Paul but not many. He is some la la land were the greedsters never morph into crooks. But then, if there were no laws to break, there would be no crooks. That is Ron Paul.
If it were left up to me, there would be more state intervention. Only with idea of protecting the little guys and not the Fat Cats, many of whom would be in jail.
In fact, if it were left up to me, I would end capitalism itself.
It is pernicious and venal system that is based on endless growth and accumaltion by the rich and powerful.
We are in a finite world, the limits of which we have already exceeded.
The capitalists are destroying the earth and its ability to support us, they will destroy us all in their endless greed.
In that sense, when we reach the limit of growth, which I think we already have done, we will never see a recovery. But this is not Ron Paul territory at all.
Do you get a lot of kids in your neighborhood? I'm not sure how popular it is these days compared to when I was a kid. And I haven't been in any one place for long lately to figure out if it's my locations or if kids just don't go trick or treating as much?
"Parachutes are allowed in checked or carry-on baggage, but may not be worn in flight."
We used to get a whole lot of kids, but this year with so many houses being empty, I just don't know what to expect. I have about 40 treat bags prepared.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
How come the media and Bloggers are so ready to accept all this Fluff about the White visitors list?
Why hasn't and why is the White House so strongly against the OPEN investigation of the Illegal wire TAPS.
Has the Socialist of Corporate America issued veiled threats to the White House?
Why are the Media and Bloggers NOT demanding a open Investigation into the ILLEGAL Tortures again has veiled threats been issued. I see no reason to pursue the present course of Misdirection and Protection of the War Criminals of the past Administration other than Threats are being issued.
This present administration Promised a O P E N Government and I see nothing but the same secretiveness of the War Criminals last administration WHY?
What is stopping this Administration other than threats, to the Financial institutions, Labor Force (what is left of it) and the Political Assassination of any that pursue a Investigative route. I am a big boy and so are a lot of the women.
Is the Administration a total and complete Failure to not living up to its Word of a OPEN Government.
Off year elections are approaching very quickly and I am warning this administration DO WHAT YOU SAID or PAY THE PRICE.
I care nothing for the political careers of the Criminals involved I do care about the Truth.
When is this President and Congressional assembly as well as the Senate going to act, I know I will be acting at the voting booth come the NEXT ELECTION.
As far as Mr. Emmanuel goes he is in the EMPLOYMENT of this President and COUNTRY so what ever delusions he has about he is in
after he waters down the 'public option'

I just want to work, would love to pull the engine from my 92 dodge van and rebuild it my self.

Oct. 30: The Georgia congressman stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Elwin Wilson, the former Klu Klux Klan member who attacked him during the civil rights movement as the pair received the Common Ground Award. NBC's Norah O'Donnell reports.

If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
But I like it.
