The oil market is well supplied, with inventories at record levels globally, and the market continues "to be a bit soft," but prices are getting a big boost from the dollar's fall, Exxon Mobil CEO and Chairman Rex Tillerson told CNBC Friday.
"Inventory levels are at historic highs levels — especially in the U.S.," Tillerson said. But "a foreign exchange effect" is keeping prices higher, despite the amount of oil available
"If you put the price of oil, which is priced in dollars around the world, and if you look at what some of the currency effects are with the weak dollar — in our view that is contributing about $20-25 a barrel to the price," he said.
The weakness in the dollar is one of the key reasons for this year's move higher in commodities, analysts told Reuters. The greenback's weakness makes dollar-priced commodities like oil and gold more attractive as a physical hedge for investors, analysts said.
Analysts told CNBC higher oil prices and a weaker dollar could affect the global economy's fragile recovery.

Recreational drug use should not be a crime. It is a consensual act that, on its own, does not affect the rights non-consenting other people. It's that friggen' simple, but our insane response to the demand for drugs has been to exacerbate the problem, make it dangerous for everyone, ruin lives and whittle away at Constitutional protections. There should be a drug to cure that kind of self-destructive stupidity.

That's a pretty thin case to hang that statement on... refusing to cancel a trademark in continuous use for 76 years is in no sense an outrageous or activist decision, even if the trademark in question is offensive.
My take is that it was a well-rehearsed set-up gone horribly wrong. First of all, why Larry King? Everything about Prejean shouts Fox. And the word "inappropriate"? Even Larry was dumbfounded by that one. It made no sense.
I think Carrie was preped to voice that particular objection at some point when King said something - anything - that could be spun as sexual. They were, after all, addressing sex tapes and nude photos. I can visualize her handler off stage communicating with her overlord via headset. Carrie pulled out the magic word at the first question she didn't want to answer. She followed through with the rehearsed removal of her mic, and then waited obediently for her handler to give her the hand signal to leave the set. Hand signal didn't come, because handler was busy arguing with overlord (WTF just happened? You didn't get what we wanted!!!), so Carrie sat there with her glazed look and fake smile . . . not understanding her mistake and waiting for her doggie treat.
They probably had the Faux News stories all written, planning the airing of the clips over and over, ad nauseum. The focus leaves Carrie's (several) sex tapes and lands squarely on the backs of "dirty old man" Larry King and (by association) the Librul Media . . . leaving Prejean the victimized innocent young thing and allowing the Becks, Hannity's, Limbaugh's and O'Reilly's to come to her rescue. Mission accomplished.
Fail.
Exactly my thoughts when I first saw her reaction. It wasn't to argue with or object to King. Rather, the whole incident looked like a choreographed pageant move.
Personally, I don't give a f*ck about this twit. I'd rather do it with a $20 hooker than put in the extra strokes and time it would take to do the same fantasizing about Prejean. And no cleaning of the sink required either...
