The Huffington Post with the top links Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Tits, Ass... couldn't have been more spot on. Well, at least I thought it was funny.
Do'h, i completely missed that. Yeah, it's funnier now.

It's total google whoring a la Daily Beast and Daily Howler. "Marijuana secrets of the Aztecs," "Estate Planning, Sexy sex stuff with extra sex, Titties and beer"
And the posts are take-offs of Huffpo and every other lazy aggregator out there. It takes WORK to do satire that well.

About Fiorina getting kickbacks or something? Did anyone else see that story?
Or was I in a haze, and just thought I saw it. I could have sworn I saw a headline about Fiorina getting kickbacks. Anyone?

I couldn't remember where I saw that. This needs to be pounded into the public's brains. Over and Over. A perfect example of corporate nepotism. Yeah, Lets elect her as our Senator! WoooHooooo.

who voted for Ahnold S., I hope something keeps them all away from the polls in November, otherwise we may very well have Fiorina for a senator. :(

picture. Perfect!
I'm finishing up The Dead Zone, so now I finally understand the Greg Stillson references made here. Some of you might remember I'd never heard of Lonesome Rhodes or A Face in the Crowd until Olbermann started referring to it. I have to catch up on a lot of these references. Sometimes being born in the 1980's has its disadvantages. ;)

Never could stand steven king,
I prefer Edgar Allen Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and Clive Barker.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
tried Clive Barker yet. :) I'm reading a bilingual Spanish-English edition of The Murders in the Rue Morgue right now too. Stephen King is a much later discovery, although once I borrowed a book with a Salem's Lot excerpt from the elementary school library at the same time I was borrowing Poe, Shelley, and Stoker. :)

That's is my cat a few weeks before he died. almost blind, and almost could not walk at all.
It was a harsh decision to let him sleep forever. I got him back home and gave him a nice place under a big old oak tree.
Rest in peace old buddy.

Especially when your cat's been a good friend. My condolences.
so incredibly difficult that decision for sure....but done out of love & compassion.
As heart-wrenching as it is...I know that when I've 'decided it was time', for my beloved cats over the years, I was at the very least not prolonging any suffering.
So very sorry for your loss.
my present sweet cat, Marmalade....who is 18 and in good health. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your beloved companion.

The series is pretty funny. I have four cats myself, stinky, sneaky, sammy and spanky - and a stray tom I can't let in, but feed.
Anyhow, I'm glad you liked them, I couldn't help but think of you with your tag line.

That first link reminds me of my friend's old cat, Roxanne. She was a hunter. She'd leave kills under the bed as gifts- birds, sqirrels, chipmunks...She was mostly panther, I think.

Via Brian Ruh, Creationist CEO unsuccessful in turning the "field" into a college science. I wonder why Christians never had to do PR campaigns after Jimmy Swaggart...Ohio goes Arizona on Puerto Ricans. A bitch to puppies. Cali votes against banning plastic bags. on your thoughtful recycling of those pesky disposable plastic bags -- both for the specific function and proper (presumed) disposal afterwards. Absolutely no snarkiness intended.
Around my location, these plastic bags float on the wind as commonly as a pigeon, and often wind up causing great harm to the environment, like in our creeks and rivers And the same holds true for the reuse to which you apply them. I walk around with a eye on the ground, just to save from a nasty clean-up.

About the hurricanes on the east coast. They're stackin.
The Atlantic hurricanes finally passed the Pacific this year. The last one in the Pacific(eastern pacific) was Frank. Earl looks like trouble. Don't know about Fiona and Gaston.

We got hit by Typhoon Kompasu here in Seoul. today. It was pretty wild: things blowing around, trees down everywhere, they closed 4 subway lines, buses not able to get through, 50,000 taxis in the city and all full!!! It took me 2 hours to get to work, I lucked out with a taxi after trying for 1 1/2 hours. . .
Hope you don't get a hurricane. Now I get it.

No immediate threat here, but the NE coast looks problematic. I'd spend Labor Day weekend far inland, myself.

By the time I left work (4:00 pm) the entire city was put back together. Trees that were downed replanted already (even some really big ones), all debris cleared away, everything operating like normal. I will say, these Koreans get shit done very fast!! It's like nothing happened, already.
Good luck on the East coast.!!

I have friends that work at Disneyland, and they try to do the same thing-- clean-up/modify during darkness, so looks are new when the next day's guests arrive. And the City of Beverly Hills was also very rapid (but not overnight) in replacing trees with min. 48" box replacements.

Tonight on the Rachel Maddow show she had this segment on Arizona governor Jan Brewer, architect of the "papers please" law, and she is tied to that states private prison industry.
Two things really jumped out at me in this. First that a CBS news affiliate actually was doing some REAL investigative reporting and the other that, when exposed to this, the group’s backers pulled all advertising from that affiliates network.
Gee, A sitting governor passes a law that will increase the amount of arrests of illegal aliens (or even suspected ones) has ties to a private prison industry which will house and process said aliens and profit from that.
Gawd I hope there are legal ramifications to this leading to an investigation of that slime ball of a governor.

Corruption is apparent and rampant with politicians at all levels of government, and has been for many years. Unfortunately, prosecution of slime ball politicians like Brewer is unlikely. Just look at Texas, the Feds, and that snake Tom DeLay.

Banned plastic shopping bags two years ago.
I always carry a few cloth bags with me now.
Considering all the harm they do, it's a no- brainer.
Cali Dems sell us out on insurance price-gouging. No shit, Sherlock. Baby bottle chemical ban didn't make it, either. Yes, Bush totally comes off better in retrospect, "liberal" media. Uninsured rate continues to go up.
Your earlier post re: Ohio & AZ & Puerto Rico just saved me a whole lot of trouble that would have blind-sided me as I intend to settle in Cali -- it would have been w/o vital docs (ouch).
But your link re: Cali price-gouging has really gotten me POed. The very same CA Senator Leno that sponsored this crap bill also sponsored SB 1449, which decriminalizes cannabis. And made me think that this ass-hat was a good guy. WTF is going on with these Cali politicians, anyway?

In other news, the local daily paper says China started live ammunition war games in the Yellow Sea on Wednesday. The US and South Korea are to hold their naval drills from Sunday. China is pissed a US aircraft carrier group will be off it's coast in the Yellow Sea playing war games with the South Koreans.
Of course, this all relates to the sinking of the Cheonan off the West coast, allegedly by North Korea (a story of which many here are very highly skeptical, including me.) It also happened right before very important midterm elections while the general public was dissatisfied with this current conservative government. (Something Republicans might think of doing, no?)
