Komen Apologizes; Pledges To Continue Planned Parenthood Grants - Updated
Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:
We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.
Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.
It is our hope and we believe it is time for everyone involved to pause, slow down and reflect on how grants can most effectively and directly be administered without controversies that hurt the cause of women. We urge everyone who has participated in this conversation across the country over the last few days to help us move past this issue. We do not want our mission marred or affected by politics - anyone's politics.
Update: Just as this news broke, I was putting together a petition to call for Karen Handel's resignation and for Komen to publicly commit to continuing to fund Planned Parenthood and stem cell research centers. If you want to sign it as a way to affirm the call for a right-wing ideologue to leave decisions about women's health to more objective people, please feel free. Here it is.
Update 2: Planned Parenthood releases a statement, which says in part:
In recent weeks, the treasured relationship between the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and Planned Parenthood has been challenged, and we are now heartened that we can continue to work in partnership toward our shared commitment to breast health for the most underserved women. We are enormously grateful that the Komen Foundation has clarified its grantmaking criteria, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Komen partners, leaders and volunteers. What these past few days have demonstrated is the deep resolve all Americans share in the fight against cancer, and we honor those who are at the helm of this battle.
Update #3: A Komen board member confirms that there is no guarantee future grants will be awarded to Planned Parenthood. On its face, this isn't an unusual statement for a foundation to make. After all, grants are for finite periods of time and must be renewed with new applications from time to time. However, in this case it's troubling, given the political motives for their original decision. What would stop them from finding any small excuse not to fund grants?
Nancy Brinker's remarks on Andrea Mitchell's show gave a preview of a panoply of excuses. Everything from "grant excellence" to the claim that they want to 'eliminate third parties' in the screening process. For this reason, it seems prudent to keep the pressure on NGKF to be transparent and accountable for their decisions. It's not enough to issue a statement to take the heat off. They need to back up their words with actions.
If Komen is serious, they can simply approve the application Planned Parenthood has already submitted. Yes, they turned it down once, supposedly because of the now-old rule about investigations. Fine. If the rule is gone, then approve the grant.

Originally the explanation was that they wouldn't fund outfits under investigation. Next, they changed it to being devoted only to research organizations. Next, they said they cut off PP because it was a pass-through entity. Now we're back to investigations???
I'm sure it was all just a misunderstanding. LOLOLOLOLOL.

Yes. I'm sure they meant the best for everyone. Now quit calling us! OK you liberal whack-jobs?!?!? Just leave us alone. We'll give them money. Just stop making my secretary cry.
too late, bitches. But I'd like to thank Nancy Brinker, Karen Handel and the board members of SGKF who did not resign over this mega debacle for exposing the seedy underbelly of your scam of a foundation. Thank you. At least a few will not be fooled by a shambolic mea culpa, and that's good. Plus PP got loads of screening money. YAY!
Too bad though we live in a country though where the most basic of money saving preventative healthcare is available only if you beg the rich loudly enough.
me-oww!
I have made an annual donation to Walk for the Cure in recent years. In the future I will cut out the middle woman and donate directly to PP.
It was a misunderstanding. They thought it would be a good thing to re-route cancer screening and research grants to charities run by right-wing nutjobs Till someone pointed out to them that the right wing agenda has women dying on some back alley abortionist's table, and siphoning cancer research dollars into their own bank accounts and into the pockets of lobbyists and politicians. And till someone pointed out that the right wing agenda is notoriously anti science and that the best they offer is prayer. Till someone pointed out that even the rich contract cancer and that one of their number might be someday saved by not trashing Planned Parenthood.
Where do Eric Cantor and Frothy Santorum stand on this?

Philanthropic foundations are often little different from any profit corporation. Institutions are first and foremost self-indulgent and self-perpetuating.
Funny, they say the decision "was not political," then they say "we will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political." Kind of having it both ways but I will assume the latter statement overrides it all going forward. They are going to have to eat some humble pie for a while. Maybe stop suing people that use the word "cure" and ease back on the pink merch. I'm curious as to what the NFL will do next season after this, as I recall they dedicate a whole weekend to that BS.
This is bad news for Pink.

brought up a good point. One of the reasons Komen used for defunding was that PP was doing pass through payments to labs and doctors and their new statement says nothing about this. In other words, they could deny grants to PP locations that don't do the exams themselves. Maybe we need to wait to hear from Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood.
The good life is a day at the beach.
for that BS
This is an enormous fuck you to the American conservative ChristianTaliban.
I don't see how this story is proof against the US being center right. The fact that they even tried it seems to suggest otherwise.
...power addicted hypocrites are actually trying to do to this Nation. Brinker tried to turn women's healthcare into a political issue thinking that the majority on Americans would ignorantly side with her...horrible failure...her credibility is shot. Like other commentors I won't ever give a single dime to that organization...I'm contributing directly to Planned parenthood.
And that's what I will do too. And it should also be noted that Komen did not offer any committment of future funding, just to fund their current committment.
"We will find fulfillment not in the goods that we have, but in the good we can do for each other."

Couldn't have said it better.
is intended to be a factual statement
In a center/right nation they'd be raking in the donations for their "courageous" stand. Instead, they're so frantically trying to backtrack and cover their ass they're looking like idiots from virtually any angle.
Corruption favors the wealthy.
I call bullsh!# on Komen. They saw $$$ drying up and that is more important to them than their supposed "mission".
Will they reconsider their decision to stop funding stem cell research as well?
Because if that research really does come up with a cure. The Gravy Train stops.
Yeah, Bullshit!
Has Brinker(Snake Face) fired the uber t'bagger been fired yet?
They can shove it as far as I am concerned. No more pink purchases. I wonder how their rabidly pro life executive team will be able to live with this decision.
Actions speak louder than words. They'll simply find a backdoor to this and still screw women's health issues. They made a big mistake. People know now where they truly stand. I, for one, will never again support Komen. I will give directly to PP.
I never contribute through a proxy.

RWNJs actions is this:
Don't believe what they say; watch what they DO.
“The greatest evildoers are those who don’t remember because they have never given thought to the matter, and, without remembrance, nothing can hold them back,”
They were ALREADY funding the "existing Grants". That was Brinker's source of dismay at the "controversy". But I gosh-darn guarantee ya that PP will either have their application denied or their funding greatly reduced next cycle. They've alluded to shifting their "focus" and strategy over the past year. This is just damage control.
The only real change that would be acceptable as sincere would be a significant change in Administration personnel. Imo, of course.
that was what the flap was over.
It's the policy change that matters here as much as the reversal. Here's what I view as the key victory:
In other words, they cannot evaluate grant applications and reject because of bogus BS congressmen's investigations and remain consistent with their policies.
They should absolutely be watched and held accountable. But the win is for women's health over political witchhunts right now.
Watch the interview with Andrea Mitchell. Nancy Brinker says the exact opposite. It's at the 3:20 mark. Worth Watching

My original conviction stands, not another penny to Komen or ANY product bearing the pink ribbon. They have shown their true colors and will not be trusted in my household.
I would rather see the corporations and small companies that sponsored products and events give the money they spend on pink product and placement just give what it costs them to the Komen foundation. They can do the runs to create awareness which everyone has pretty much already gained. That will weed out the sponsors who only participate as a marketing tool. For me, time will have to pass before I willing return to donating to them if I ever do.
The good life is a day at the beach.
Trust is damaged, perhaps irrevocably. Only a change in brass might help with this debacle.
And to your other thought, exactly what I wanted to post as well:
Nice try, righties. And thanks for providing me with more comforting evidence that the Universe tends to err on the side of good, because people like you fall on your faces often enough to make me happy.
I'm just superstitious enough to hedge my bets.
They will need to change some key people in their organization to get our support back.
In the words of the GREAT Gilda Radner...... "NEVERMIND"!
Interestingly, two or three stories below this particular one is this:

Any organization that can creep into this stupid crisis- abandonment of mission, as well as, public relations nightmare- is being directed by an incompetent CEO and management staff. What will the Trustees do about this, in essence, the future of the Foundation? I am sick of watching Boards of Directors hiring flashy CEO charlatans with Romneyesque business style and no passion for the philanthropy.
I know that it is really their corporate partners who do all the work of creating the pink products, doing product placement on retailer floors and on the internet sites of retailers. The overhead at Komen shouldn't be as high as it is, especially for lawyers for suing any organization that doesn't go through them to do an event using the word "cure". In addition, it would seem to me that they could find a qualified person to be CEO who wants a job with a NPO whose mission they feel passionately about without demanding a $525,000 annual salary. In addition, they don't need a lobbyist to the pharmaceutical and medical industry unless they are lobbying for lower pricing in meds and treatment and even then, I'm sure they can fine one that will work for less than Hadassah Lieberman. I know it is going to be a while before I trust them enough to donate. Time will tell
The good life is a day at the beach.
I saw that $525k figure before. To me that is totally incompatible with a charity, you can easily get someone just as qualified for 1/5 that is looking after the cause, not the paycheck.
One point; when you look at the disparities between CEOs and workers that earn the money the Corp gives the CEO, you divide the CEOs pay by the workers pay to get the ratio. What is $525,0000 / 0 (volunteers)?
What percentage of my donations was used on Brinker's bad face stretching cosmetic surgery?
What will happen? What always happens. The incompetent CEO will be showered with praise and money at their magificent handling of this crisis (no matter that they caused the crisis...we all know that no one could have foreseen the consequences of idiotic actions).
Of course, the damage to funding will have to be covered by firing some of the administration staff, but of course...this saves the econony and saves jobs by ensuring that the institution survives. And of course, there will be more showering of praise and money on the CEO for their deft management of gutting the organization.
See how this capitalism thingie works now, kiddies.

to find out how a "non-profit" organization can pay their CEO $650,000.00 plus expenses per year, and how they can be involved in lobbying, in direct conflict with their tax exempt status.
...and yes, that is an entirely different question. it's perfectly legal to lobby via c4, but one has to wonder why an organization that's dedicated to women's health would necessarily want to lobby Congress.
"... but one has to wonder why an organization that's dedicated to women's health would necessarily want to lobby Congress."
Well, I don't know why Komen lobbies Congress, but it seems pretty obvious to me why an organization dedicated to women's health might want to lobby Congress, given that Congress makes a lot of decisions that affect women's health.
and her husband Joe Lieberman campaigned actively against HCR, I don't think women's health issues are in the best hands here.
me-oww!
It's not lobbying per se that's questionable, as karoli seemed to be implying. (Perhaps I read it wrong.)
Planned Parenthood is an organization dedicated to women's health (and men's health, too, to a lesser extent), and they lobby Congress. For better and all-to-often for worse, Congress makes decisions that affect women's health, so it would be obvious to me why an organization dedicated to women's health would lobby Congress.
against the ACA. Why would a "non political" charity even want to get involved with lobbying against heh affordable care act? SGK is nothing but another right wing front group.
First they pull PP's funding and get whacked with more backlash than they could ever have imagined, then they try to talk their way out of it, then they reverse field and re-fund PP, pissing off the bastids who pressured them to pull the funding in the first place.
So what are you left with? People who have seen you for what you have truely become and people who are pissed for what you promised them and then took back from them.
I think the sales of pink ribbon merchandise is gonna take a huge hit....and based on what it costs to put that on a product, companies are going to be pulling out of the program like mad.

This charity is being run by cruel and psychotic bitches, without an ounce of compassion. They do not deserve another cent of our money, ever again. They give money to an institution that has a known pederast running loose in its gym and don't pull one penny when the scandal broke, but their teabagging bitch became their VP, they fired their lobbyist and they make a premeditated decision to kill millions of poor uninsured women. This makes them psychotics and unfit to roam the streets freely.

Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
they are consistently greedy
they are consistently saying 'unbelievable' things
they are consistently for the 1% ...
they are consistently looking for ways to enrich themselves
perhaps there are more but i grow weary with the right consistency

They're also consistently hypocritical in the sense that they deny doing any and all of the things you've listed as well as imposing conditions arbitrarily so that they can (conveniently) condemn and exclude certain individuals/groups while at the same time justifying and excusing others.
Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
Funny thing they didn't pull Penn states funding who is under a REAL investigation. SGK is still off my donation list forever. I don't say this lightly I lost 2 aunts to breast cancer and my mother recently to bladder cancer. All the back pedaling won't change their true motives and we know what they are and its not women's health.
oh, so they fired brinker?
One of the first things which popped into my head after reading this headline was "Brinker should be forced out due to conflicts of interest and decisions which have called Komen's mission and reputation into question." It's what they would do to just about any lower-level employee who'd done something like this. (Then again, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Brinker deny all responsibility for this and try to throw someone else under the bus in the coming days...in fact, I fully expect this to happen.)
Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
This is nothing more than an attempt at damage control because they saw their cash cow jumping the fence.

well then, you shouldn't have gotten into politics.
Now, every move you make will be looked at with scepticism.
Hypocrisy and double standards will be exposed and called out.
Many people will be watching Komen closely, for a long time.
Maybe it will actually work out well for breast cancer research - in the long run.
That, however, doesn't help women in the near future.
They will lose some funding until they prove their motives and 'metrics'.
Komen has lot of cleaning to do on their brand before they are forgiven.
A mission statement defining how this will never happen again would be a good start.
The right will keep trying to do this stuff in every possible forum.

And that last bit where they want us all to pause and reflect on responsibility and blah blah blah:
"It is our hope and we believe it is time for everyone involved to pause, slow down and reflect on how grants can most effectively and directly be administered without controversies that hurt the cause of women."
....how dare they presume to lecture anybody else after what they pulled? They just couldn't resist a littler patriarchal jab, could they? My hope is that this was also meant to be part of a new mission statement/warning to their own org that this kind of thing is NOT to be a part of what they do, ever again.
While I am happy that PP is keeping their funding, I am still pretty fucking livid about this. NICE TRY, RIGHTIES. Clumsy, mean, and stupid; why change, eh?
I'm just superstitious enough to hedge my bets.
All they said was they will continue with money that is all ready in the pipe line. They went on to say, that planned parenthood could submit future requests and that they would be considered. That's not quite the same as saying they would continue to support planned parenthood.
It sounds to me like all their doing is pushing the fire storm down the road, hoping for a better result after the elections.

Nope. Too late. And I think they'll just push this off till later.
I don't give money to any charitable organization which has an overhead of more than 20%. Those that do are either mismanaged, paying their administrators too much, are ripping off their donors and recipients, or all of the above.
Charity Navigator… the best tool on the web to find out who is a four star charity and how much their overhead is, how much their CEO's make, ect. It has changed my mind many times.
They were.
Congratulations, Republicans, you've poisoned another useful organization. Why would any sane person dump money into such a polluted cesspool of right wing bullshit?
The Komen Foundation is dead. Sober Americans will now give money directly to Planned Parenthood.
This is typical GOP strategy. They can't get a Federal ban on abortion...so they make it a state's right issue. The same with marriage equality. Now, they try a backdoor funding ban of Planned Parenthood by using proxies.
The result...States like Mississippi, Tennessee, Arizona, SC, etc. have become even bigger caricatures of their redneck, backward reputations then ever before. For organizations like Komen, they have now been marginalized, disenfranchised, ridiiculed and rendered unimportant.
The question that the organizations and states need to answer for themselves is...Is being prisoner to the assbackward whims of a minority of wingnut, power hungry individuals really worth it?

Hopefully PP will take this opportunity to EXPAND their reach to provide women with all kinds of health advise and take over where Komen failed.
How to sink your own ship by Nancy Brinker , dumb ass Republicon . Doubtful that Komen will recover from this , there needs to be a couple of resignations at least . Didn't take them long to do a 180 did it ? They must have crapped their pants when they saw the public outcry and the MSM jumping on the story like it did .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
Not only the public outcry but their long time supporters like Mrs. Greenspan (and good friend who took her to task on national TV) and all the Senators that signed the petition and the congress people who were about to sign another petition.
The heavy anti-choice presence of their VP had been driving them to do this for awhile now.
And Komen is NOT all that useful. They're a middle man that skims donations. They are surplus to requirements, always have been. They just have marketed themselves into the free money catbird seat. And thankfully, they've PRd themselves out of it.
Giving a dollar directly means the entity you give to gets 100% of your dollar. If you give that dollar to Komen, according to the latest I can find, only $.80 of that dollar goes to the entity. These charitable juggernauts are all about the skimming.
Sure, they've passed out loads of money for research and screening, but you have a load of high maintenance RWNJ dames running the place, doing a 'noblesse oblige' job and being overpaid handsomely for it. Loads of money donated go for their upkeep.

Does that mean that Penn State will not be getting funding?

Nope, did not happen.

Too late, the damage has been done and they have exposed themselves for the right wing, anti-women fascist they are. Their only concern was all the money they lost and will continue to lose. I will still give directly to PP. The Komen Foundation is a scamming farce anyway.

No, they do not pledge any such thing. They say they will continue to allow Planned Parenthood to apply for funding. There is no statement anywhere in that so-called apology that says they will honor those applications.
This reversal is a desperate move to save themselves from total collapse. They will continue to operate as a right wing corrupt organization. Here is a link to a Alter-net article that exposes their corruption.
http://www.alternet.org/story/153989/6_things...
"We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not".
It's insulting to say as much. Who does Komen think it's kidding?
Komen would look a lot less silly if it simply told the truth, and fired the people responsible for the debacle. That it hasn't, and that the simple truth remains unspoken because the same individuals are left running the show, does not bode well for its future.
Did they fire Karen Handel? She is the vice president of public policy at the Dallas-based Komen and reTweeted “Just like a pro-abortion group to turn a cancer orgs decision into a political bomb to throw. Cry me a freaking river.”
Handel's strong anti-abortion stance and stated attitude toward Planned Parenthood have caught the attention of several commentators, including those at the Atlantic and Mother Jones.
Here is some information about her. Until she is gone Komen has no, ZERO credibility regarding their statement, "We do not want our mission marred or affected by politics - anyone's politics."
Handel fits right in with them. she's a sista!
BTW, Komen won't have cred ever again, handel-less or not.

"Here's the reality -- the war on Planned Parenthood will continue and the effort to isolate it from the medical community will continue. But the pro-choice community can be thankful that this nasty public breakup reflects well on Planned Parenthood, and poorly on those who disavow it. It reflects on those disavowers so badly that many of us have remembered just how pernicious certain aspects of the mainstream breast cancer awareness movement has been, and redoubled our suspicions.
Like many dozens of others this week, I've gone back to Barbara Ehrenreich's Cancerland to be reminded of this truth: "In the harshest judgment, the breast-cancer cult serves as an accomplice in global poisoning -- normalizing cancer, prettying it up, even presenting it, perversely, as a positive and enviable experience."
Planned Parenthood keeps its focus on women's health, plain and simple, and includes abortion as part of that comprehensive approach. It doesn't try to gussy up health issues, or prettify them, or politicize them. It's the other side that does the politicizing. Maybe the outrage and the mea culpa it forced Komen to issue will finally make other organizations think twice before they stab a beloved health organization in the back the way Komen has done."
Here is a link to what you posted. It points out how they are bullshitting about not politicizing this.

They should have thought of that before they allowed right wing ideologues to make their decisions for them.
Komen's reputation is ruined.
Now, by asserting that they never intended to target PP and only needed to refresh their fresh new "grant quality" proscriptive language, they have arranged things so that they must immediately terminate the relationship with Penn State. As you know Penn State is under criminal investigation, the evidence is clear tha wrongdoing occurred, and so that institution meets each one of the revised criteria Komen has said they will apply in the future.
So we await their promised action of suspending the $5 million in grants to Penn State that they awarded earlier this year.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!
That CEO of theirs is a stone liar, and this is just a delaying action intended to get their ass out of the campfire.
Karoli says up above
"They should absolutely be watched and held accountable. But the win is for women's health over political witchhunts right now."
I would guess that Planned Parenthood will be screaming from the mountains if they fail to win more grants from Komen (if they are still in business) in the future.
A board member confirms there are no guarantees of future grants to PP. Based on that, this is not much of a victory at all.
Funny, I believe that lack of a guarantee of future donations is a two way street.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
I would not take much away from that statement. There are no guarantees for anything and somebody like that HAS to say there are no guarantees blah blah blah. It is now up to PP to let the public know if they do not win any grants in the future. And I am sure they will after this deal.
pre-brinker-kerfuffle the komen ideological outfit was looking for a way to stick it to PP. now, after this, after this comeuppance, i can only imagine how much the komen folks despise being forced to retreat, and are even more hungry to find a way to stop donating to PP.
i assume there is high level strategy session looking into how to move past this clusterpoop, and how to quietly cut ties with PP
Ms. Brinker must have used the word "frankly" a half dozen times on TV the other night.

Remember a vote for a Repub President will bring this very same type of action against your right! Look at the repub House..10 bills that strip WOMENS REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS but nothing on JOBS!
brinkers salary is $457 K and they spent $700,000 lobbying for right wing causes last year! Not another dime to Komen..directly to PP or institutions that do research!
The apology means NOTHING BUT MORE LIES!
Limbaugh , Fox , the Reich wingers are all pulling out their hair now , this oughta be fun to watch . The thing is , this won't stop them , they'll be more determined and become even more devious ... if it were possible .
Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
I'm sure that Rush can afford his own breast exams.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Rush ALWAYS has to pay to have someone feel him up.
Until they figure that the ruckus has died down. Then they'll apply the next turn of the screw. That's how the Reich Wing works. Keep the spotlight on them, they're starting to shrivel...
by digging themselves in deeper in assuming the public is that stupid to read between the PR lines.
They are doomed.
Women will not trust them. Why should we? They have played politics with life saving programs, sacrificed on the alter of republican politics.
I'm glad this happened. Maybe now women will wake up and stop the republican onslaught on our lives and on our reproductive rights.

I'm not glad because Planned Parenthood is losing $600K in funding for breast cancer screenings, but I'm glad for the public reaction. I'm glad for the big push back. It's another sign that America is finally waking up. After 30+ years of the Far Right having their way and everyone else just sitting there, it's good to see John and Jane Doe get pissed as hell and fighting back. The Wisconsin recalls, the Occupy Movement, the pushing back against SOPA, PIPA, the Big Banks, the Keystone Pipeline - these are all great things!
The GOP/FOX/TeaTard/ChristianFundie machine is in big trouble, and they know it. The more they try to keep control, the more they push sane people away.
Maybe we'll all look back at 2012, and see it not as the year the world ended, but the year that the common (wo)man took the next step toward true justice.
…which one's Pink?

he stayed back at the hotel
These guys can't even issue an apology without lying about it!
What was it about stopping digging when ya are on a hole?
Show me the yellow cake.
Have the Komen folks got it yet?? Do they understand what a deep pile they stepped in by 1) Hiring this woman, and 2) Actually trying to implement nut-job gospel in public? AND, effect MILLIONS of people in doing so?? Was it momentary lunacy??
It's clear that not as many American brain cells have been destroyed as the Rethuglicons would have you believe...
NEVER ANOTHER DIME TO YOU KOMEN - NEVER.
"We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons...."
"We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political."
This a rather clumsy, and probably unintended admission that the act of defunding Planned Parenthood was in fact a POLITICAL move?
Freedom Isn't Free, So Stop Whining And Pay Your Taxes.
So lets see, they are not giving them money... now they are giving them money... but the money they are giving them they already kind of have to give them, but they are not giving them anymore money.. unless they pass the test. Hmm.. so this is still bullshit.
Let the re-branding campaign begin...pass it on

Someone probably smacked them upside de head with the 2 x 4 that says "If you won't support anyone who's under investigation, you'll have to pull the plug on Penn State NOW."
This mess was all preplanned. Have your Teabagger cronies start a bogus congressional investigation, and then withdraw funding, because Planned parenthood is being investigated. It amazes me that the right wing thinks that most people don't see thru this garbage. This was not a mistake. The right wing had to politicize breast cancer. They politicize everything else. Put a few million poor women at risk. Its all in their game.

Political clubs were charities they would use their own stolen wealth to tell donors where they can send their money...........the message should be sent, they are not needed or wanted, use charity navigator and similar services and make your donations directly.
The first casualty of republicanism is the truth.
Party politics are not only undemocratic, they are antidemocratic.
if they really mean to reverse their policy decisions...or was their 'apology' just a PR stunt to take the heat off of themselves:

I'm sure we'll find out.....
The sound of the Komen Foundation losing shitloads of money because they caved in to the Tea Bag Gang.
To take money from the public to fight breast cancer then turn it into a right wing attack? Shame all around. Susan komen would be horrified, if she weren't dead, which is what a lot of poor women will be if thesehties righties prevail.
Done and done. My mom's a breast cancer survivor. Because of all this bs from SJKF, I donated to PP. First charitable contribution from me over. Thanks for the impetus to do the right thing.
