It was obvious when the Obama White House stood back and let Van Jones get run over by the right-wing bus that he just happened to be first in line.

These wingnuts are just getting warmed up. That was self-evident yesterday on Fox, when not just Glenn Beck, but Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly piled on as well. These guys are now headed straight for the rest of Obama's progressive appointees, and ultimately are after Obama himself.

Beck had on Michelle Malkin to help him line up the next row of victims, who appear primarily to be John Holdren and Valerie Jarrett. Hannity, too, clearly has Jarrett in his sights; he featured a clip from her chat at Netroots Nation, talking up the value of having someone like Van Jones in the administration.

But really, this bus isn't just aimed at progressive appointees. It's directed ultimately at Obama himself. Beck made that clear in his segment with O'Reilly (who miraculously comes off as the voice of reason in all this), when he essentially admitted that the purpose of this whole campaign is to paint Obama as a closet Marxist who secretly wants to transform America into a communist state.

In other words, this is about delegitimizing the Obama presidency. That's been their purpose from Day One, and they appear to be right on schedule. With a helping hand from the Obama White House itself.

sadly, if they go after Obama and have any effect, it will be his own fault for caving constantly.

even if there was a woman with a blue dress in her closet.

And it is why Blue Dog democrats better figure out that acting like a Republican will not save them in 2010. The other side will throw them out like they did Dems who voted against Clinton in 93.

Fox is a tool box holding a bunch of tools. Good thing they aren't subject to any credibility standards, isn't it?

..but rupert had a vomitorium installed at the faux studios. Apparently, some of the union members on the set couldn't handle the bs any more.

Okay, I started that rumor.

Screw these morons.

As David said a few days ago, we need an all-out political war against them.

I see that KO looks as if he was dropping the email thing about dirt on Beck. I emailed him last night asking that he get some sort of well thought out plan to oust beck. Perhaps show videos of the jackass over and over again in some of his finest moments.

Without a doubt, these guys are hate mongers extraordinaire.

savannah43's picture

Unless you have VERY long legs, you can't take both at the same time. That does not stop us from taking the low road.

surfjac's picture

..never had a real "e-mail thing" going; it was merely a device to call beck on his going after people, bs. The amount of "Oppo Research" heaped upon KO by rupert's minions and others more than justified KO calling for "dirt" on beck. And beck got what he deserved from KO; a rational look at a "pandering for ratings"-troll who will say or do anything to get ratings and if at all possible, disrupt the President's agenda. beck should be pulled from the air for his bs. I'm sure bor wouldn't care; he end up with teh beckers.

I did think it was pretty funny that KO built up the "dirt" thing on beck, saying that he had some really big stuff he would reveal later in the program.

What was the "dirt" on glenn beck? Why, he's glenn beck!

..why do you hate rodeo clowns so much?
They actually perform a valuable service and grab the bull's attention while the dismounted rider can crawl away before he gets stomped on. beck has been likened to the bull droppings or "..steamin' pile o' dog mess!" is how it was put.

The question should be: Who do they benefit? The GOP gets paid, too. Who does that leave?

"Beck's moment of reason in this episode 'Don't let republocans pass anything either. republican's have passed some really bad stuff as well.'"

I'd dispute that it had to do anything with reason. It's just more of Beck's patented faux populism. He certainly wasn't urging hordes of conservatives to shout down Republicans during the past 8 years. The "Republicans are bad too" bit is just a charade for demagogue Beck.

Nobody could have predicted that Republicans would pretend to be outraged by something unexceptional. Nobody could have predicted that the Democrats would cave in order to seem centrist. And nobody could have predicted that the Republicans would respond to this caving by screaming even louder.

It's like their contempt for we, the people, is so overwhelming that they don't even bother to make the theatre convincing anymore. They're just going through the motions... which nobody could have predicted.

they're guppies. guppies that have been continually beating the obama-machine.

and, sorry, they have every right to strut around over the van jones debacle. they pushed, obama caved, van was tossed. until the obama admin finds someway to counter the rightwing onslaught (other than catering and caving), his presidency is going to be a trainwreck.

This is the conundrum for liberal blogs, how do you maintain watchdog status without giving the conservatives free publicity they wouldn't get any other way otherwise? We need language that makes us look strong and them weak, calling them sharks and us blood in the water is not a smart strategy.

President Obama, I hope this is a teachable moment for you. You are not going to please the right by kicking out those they see as communists, because the only "communist" they really care about getting is you.

is NOT totally the White House's fault.

The Democrats have clear majorities in BOTH houses...an obvious mandate.

Congressional leadership should be attacking ALL those that attack the President's appointments...just as the GOP attacked when the shoe was on the other foot.

Again...the Democrats have the WEAKEST leadership in their history with Nancy "I will only say as much as I need to say to keep the progressives at bay, but I will NEVER force the issue on progressive legislation" Pelosi and Harry "if it wasn't for Mitch McConnell everyone would be laughing at MY Droopy Dog face" Reid.

Try this for imagery, here's the U.S.S. Constitution and george bush is a torpedo that did near fatal damage to our Country. Now lets say Glen Beck is a fire, and his lips are fanning the flames, doing his best to keep patriotic Americans from repairing the damage done by the previous administration, and save our Great Country from those intent on destroying Her. Yes sir, Glen Beck is a dangerous dangerous man. Someone should hose him.

What the Dems need to do is accelerate any and all crimminal investigations and include any relevations that even hint at W and the Dick's involvement, have press releases set to go whenever there is any right wing progress. Obama and the rest need to fight dirty, like the oppenent there are in a fight with.

David Sirota: Glenn Beck, Obama's White House, and the Progressive Movement

Barack Obama has ties to the progressive movement, but he is an inherently cautious - and, at times, frightened - politician. He is first and foremost desperate to appease his opposition, even if his opposition is political terrorists who can never be appeased.

The article is brief and worth reading.

But those two sentences I quoted explain a LOT.

Would they herald an assassin a hero or as a villian?

I'm concerned that they WANT one of these gun toting nutcases to go after Obama....

Given that FOX blindly supported GW Bush and all his right wing policies, and attacked anyone who questioned Bush's policies, yet now undermine Obama at any turn, there is NO denying FOX is a Republican Party propaganda network...

How far to the right does FOX want to go?

was the day American "democracy" finally died for me... put the final nail in the coffin. when people like Glenn Beck and the Gateway Pundit can run off a truly great American, this country is in for some serious shit. the encroaching fascism just keeps on coming, and Obama played right into it by having Van Jones "resign". I've seen Van speak a couple of times, read his book and followed his career, and I don't think there's any way he would resign unless told to do so.

more wishy-washy centrism is not what the democracy ordered...

If Obama , the Obama administration and the Dems cannot develop a spine and some testosterone real soon and start hitting back and hard , well , good luck Obama and Dems ! It is sickening to watch this bi partisan turn the other cheek bullshit , Obama and the Dems are just gettin hammered , seemingly unable to defend themselves acting like they are friggin helpless !It just won't work with these low life absolute savages on the right , they are vicious , they have no ethics , morals or consciences to retrain them , they are flat out evil , the devils party if there is one . Obama , the Dems and the left need not stoop to their level , the facts and truth is on their side after all , but they better start fighting back and telling it like it is pulling no punches and shout it from the roof tops , no more playing patty cake with these guys !

Insanity , it is what it is , there is no understanding it .
