Contessa Brewer cuts the mic! Why exactly does anyone put a jackass like John Ziegler on the air?

Two words come to mind every time John Ziegler appears on TV: Braying. Jackass.
Contessa Brewer had him on MSNBC this morning to talk about David Letterman's rude and sexist remarks about Sarah Palin. But it quickly became obvious that Ziegler wasn't going on MSNBC to talk about the subject -- he was there so he could bash MSNBC for six minutes or so.
And he was his usual a-hole self. It's really a sight to behold; the man's capacity for self-humiliation seems bottomless.
My favorite part comes when he whines that MSNBC is trying to depict the Republican Party as the party of aging white males.
Gee, I wonder where they could have gotten that idea:
A 52% majority of those surveyed [all adults] couldn’t come up with a name when asked to specify “the main person” who speaks for Republicans today. So the dominant faces of the Republican Party are all men, all white, all conservative and all old enough to join AARP, ranging in age from 58 (Limbaugh) to 72 (McCain). Two are retired from politics, and one has never been a candidate.
There's also the flaming a-hole demographic. It looks like Ziegler has that one covered.

Brewer: I don't really know what to do with that. Honestly, I'm here to give you an opportunity, I consider myself a common sense thinker, I haven't attacked you, and for you to come on and use those sort of insults, insults me.

I switched off the TV as soon as I saw John Ziegler grace it. Then I wrote a long letter to MSNBC explaining why they should never invite John Ziegler back on again.
It's like in a mad effort to look like they're right down the middle, MSNBC is willing to put up with a rightwing loon whose only function whenever he's on MSNBC is to insult it and the people who are questioning him. I have never seen this guy come on MSNBC and answer a straight question. Even the interview with Morning Joe, where he didn't spend his time mocking the hosts, he spent most of his time mocking the network or dancing around the questions.

Contessa only had to do what she did because she was willing to interview this waste of space in the first place. John Zigler should not be on serious news shows, mainly because he is not a serious person. He's mostly just a right-wing hack with no sense of right and wrong.
Those clearly in need of therapy are paid a salary to entertain people instead of receiving treatment. It is abusive and arguably immoral.

You know I've often wondered why they keep putting this repulsive creep on the air when they know full well that he has a screw loose? I'm not a Contessa Cohen fan, but she was very polite, gave him every opportunity to have a halfway decent discussion, but he continued to carry on like some kind of a demented moron. His behavior, I would bet, is indicative of some kind of mental problem. I say this based not only on this interview but on other behavior he has displayed on other occassions. I would suggest they turn loose of this loony, he should be neither seen nor heard.

Contessa Brewer showed style and grace in trying to keep the discussion on-topic, she even offered him a different tack and he still spewed anti-MSNBC rantings including impuning her integrity, so eventually she lost patience with this birdbrain and said "enough, already". Good on her.

Ms. Brewer was rude to John Ziegler with her short comments and was obviously treating him like a hostile witness on the witness stand. To me it looks like she had him on just to try to make a mockery of him. I didn't hear anything that he said that called for her to react the way she did.

That's absolutely stupid. You can't really believe that. All that clown Zeigler did was make insulting remarks from the very beginning. He didn't answer any of her questions. He threw diatribes and tantrums. She asked him how Sara Palin felt of the leading figures of the Republican party being older white men. She showed the leading figures, Gingrich, Huckabee, Cheney, etc. All older white men. They are. Really. Zeigler threw a fit. He acted like a spoiled rotten 11 year old child. A child! Brewer was not in the slightest bit rude to him, not one little bit. In fact Zeigler took every opportunity to bash MSNBC that he could, which, obviously, was his only purpose for agreeing to an interview.
