and they posted on their website the interview that Obama did with her last month, he says right at the beginning that she has him confused with John McCain.

As a 20-yr viewer of West, I am stunned! Central Florida media is dominated by wingnuts, but West never was -- at least that any of us loyal northern-transplant Dems would notice. In fact, West was the serious, knowledgeable mainstreamer.

The only explanation I can think of is that hubby brainwashed her into destroying her professional rep. During historic elections, normal people start acting strange, but this was suicidally stupid. On the other hand, media consolidation here as elsewhere is forcing local "news" anchors to toe the party line, and "the prevailing wind is from Vichy" as Claude Rains said in Casablanca.

There are zero Democratic congresspersons serving the gerrymandered 4 million people in the greater Orlando metro area. But now the local GOP Congressional incumbents are on the run, especially Feeney! Don't let the door (or the FBI) hit you on the way out. Migration of non-Cuban Hispanics, mainly from Puerto Rico, are rapidly turning the region purple and turning Florida into a permanently blue state. Yippee!

Babs interviewed McCain again yesterday. She began by actually doing her job and asking Macca some proper questions then after a while she forgot about doing her job and started lobbing some softballs at him.

I recieved the following email after I complained to the station. It came from China, and that is where my reply to this form letter went. The was no mention of the fact this West woman has a husband that is a Republican stratagist.

Thank you for taking time to contact us regarding Barbara West's recent interview with democratic Vice Presidential candidate Senator Joe Biden.

The Obama campaign contacted us last week offering Senator Biden, via satellite, for a short interview. Barbara West, one of our most experienced anchors, was asked to interview Senator Biden, just as she had been on previous occasions.

It is our goal at Eyewitness News when interviewing any political candidate or public official to ask them a direct question about an issue currently in the public debate. Last week, when much of the political discourse centered on Senator Obama's statement to 'Joe the Plumber' that he thought 'sharing the wealth' was a good idea, Barbara decided to ask Senator Biden just how far an Obama-Biden administration would go in 'sharing the wealth'. What followed was very pointed, provocative question. We allowed Senator Biden to answer, fully unedited.

We tell our reporters and news anchors to ask the questions that one of our viewers might ask. For example, when Senator Obama visited Lakeland recently, Barbara (knowing her time with a presidential candidate would be limited) asked Senator Obama two questions: first, about drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico; and, second, about his position on the space program. The Senator's answers dominated the news cycle for the next day.

Perhaps more than any other presidential election in recent memory, this current election has stirred passions - some of them quite partisan - in many people. Through it all, we believe our mission is to address vital issues that we will face together, regardless of our own personal views with thorough, even handed reporting.

My opinion of the interview was that it was nothing more than an audition tape for Fox News. And evidently Fox just loved her. She just wants to ride into the big time on Palin's rather expensive coattails. I just glanced up at related stories, Joe Scarborough is a journalist? Who is he trying to kid.

Who handed this empty-headed "journalist" that Marx quote? I'm amazed that television stations actually pay people like her to read the news. West seems to think that because she sits in front of a camera reading a teleprompter that she's a political scientist with an advanced degree in economics. She's about as much of a journalist as Bill O'Reilly is a fair and balanced reporter. The irresponsibility of what television stations are passing off as news borders on unconstitutional. I wish Biden would have just stood up and walked out of the studio when she told him her question wasn't a joke. All he did was validate her right to ask it.
