FOX News has been trying to paint Code Pink as a group that goes out and attacks politicians when they protest. That's a big, fat lie. I guess their blinding pink t-shirts causes retinal damage to conservative eye balls. However, Rep. Gerry Connolly has some disturbing news, but not surprising.

As lobbyist-run groups encourage conservative activists to “rattle” members of Congress at local town hall events, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), the president of the freshman Democratic class has revealed that “at least one freshman Democrat” has already been “physically assaulted at a local event.” Connolly warned that conservative groups had taken things to a “dangerous level“:

“When you look at the fervor of some of these people who are all being whipped up by the right-wing talking heads on Fox, to me, you’re crossing a line,’ Connolly said. ‘They’re inciting people to riot with just total distortions of facts. They think we’re going to euthanize Grandma and the government is going to take over.”

Nancy Pelosi is the next target by the Malkinites and that could get really ugly.

Frank Kratovil was hung in effigy. Chris Dodd was told to go kill himself. Gerry Connolly says that one Freshman was assaulted, and Brad Miller got death threats.

Nancy Pelosi is showing up to support Diane DeGette and Jared Polis at an event in Denver tomorrow, and the Malkinites are going to be out in force. If you're in Denver, please show up and support Democrats against the thuggery of the insurance industry-funded GOP astroturfers

Don't forget to send all videos or tips about town hall disruptions to crooksandliars@gmail.com and crooksandliarsvideos@gmail.com.

I've heard this claim everywhere today. I don't doubt it--it's the next step for these thugs. But who is it? There's no value to hiding the information. We should be brandishing the evidence of such thuggery--once we see the evidence.

liberalNmoderation's picture

Until then it's hearsay and speculation.

right on_exclamation point here's picture

and if evidence of this thuggery exists, perhaps an assault charge can be laid and the criminal prosecuted.

That's how it should be handled.

This is like the thugs of the '20 and '30, working on busting unions or vice versa! The White supremists bit is most disturbing and God knows the southern white boys and girls are the horrid and unpredictable!

I agree completely. Until I see some hard evidence that this did indeed happen, as far as I am concerned, it is just a myth like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy.

Just because a liberal site says something doesn't mean that it is true. Without documentation or evidence, it ain't necessarily so.

The loonies do not mean to be harmless.

and that is why they are THUGS.....

Republicans and their associates are THUGS and DO RESORT to VIOLENCE!!!!

Don't be shocked or surprised that these GOP THUGS use Violence as part of their SHOCK Strategy and to Intimidate and Coerce in order to scare and keep others away and on notice they are also subject to being targets of such violent behavior....

Authoritarian Republicans and the Christian Right do Justify Violence and still resent the "interference of the state" for not allowing families to establish their own discipline rules for children...Yes, the right wing resent the State Dapartment of Children and Family Services whom investiage child abuse and violence against children from parents.....this is another element of why the GOP seek to undermine/cut off social service spending as well.

Seriously, do you see anything of ANY substance coming out of the mouths of a republican (other then vile, filthy rhetoric that is)? What do they offer?
*tax breaks for the rich
*No health care for millions who currently don't have it

Well, trickley-down economics didn't work for Reagan or the Bushes. It isn't likely to work for anyone in the future. What else do they offer? snark"Nothing, but let's be sure no one else can offer anything else and then maybe we'll be in a position of power again so we can make the wealthy wealthier again."snark That's what the Teabaggers are fighting for! Senseless if you ask me but if thats their bag then so be it!

OK, I deserved that one, appypollylogies to the SM and C&Lers. Still, I stand by the second part of my comment, to wit:

The next thing Beck and Orally should start encouraging is to pick a night when all the teabaggers can go out and break the windows of Democrats and libruls. They could pick some sort of catchy name for it, night of the breaking glass, or some other such thing. That would be sweet.

There was a backlash against Rethugs in 2006, and then an even bigger backlash against them in 2008.

We really need Dr. Dean and his reinvigorated 50 state strategy to kick out as many Rethugs, DINO's,
Blue Dog Democrats, and Corporatist DLC Democrats as possible in 2010. Any and All ass-hat Congress-critters that oppose the single-payer universal health care legislation need to be challenged, both in the primaries AND the general elections.

Personally, I am inclined to organize write-in candidates wherever bona fide political competition at the ballot box in jurisdictions that do not provide a choice of liberal representation.

I've written them about removing MSNBC from my basic cable package, leaving it out of any other package I do have and leaving me with FAUX and CNN which I don't watch. I can continue to harangue them about that but I'm also going to tell them to stop broadcasting FAUX because of their desire to instigate violent outbursts at Town Halls and because Beck called the President a rascist. I don't expect much out of the Dolans who own Cablevision but I sure as hell can try.

Bill-O, Beck, Rush, et al carry out their daily bloviations because there are no repercussions for what they do. That's why they rail against any hint of a revived 'Fairness Doctrine,' and why they twist the First Amendment into a shield for their racist diatribes - because they don't want to be held accountable.

I'm worried we are headed in that direction- and when it happens, the right will deny any responsibility...

We can't be worried about that. We have to stand up to these assholes. We can't go hide behind out keyboards. As long as we act like a bunch of whiners instead of a group that will not take this shit we will be run over by their steam roller. Look at what the people in Iran had to put up with. Get the Unions out to Denver!!

Unions To Take On Conservative Groups Health Care Town Halls.

"We want your help to organize major union participation to counter the right-wing "Tea-Party Patriots" who will try to disrupt those meetings, as they've been trying to do to meetings for the last month. ..."

And there is more

AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Richard Trumka sends out a scathing statement about the town halls, hitting on Sweeney's themes and calling the events corporate funded.
Every American has the inalienable right to participate in our democratic process. Our politics is passionate, heartfelt and often loud -- as was the founding of our nation. But that is not what the corporate-funded mobs are engaging in when they show up to disrupt town halls held by members of Congress.
Major health care reform is closer than ever to passage and it is no secret that special interests want to weaken or block it. These mobs are not there to participate. As their own strategy memo states, they have been sent by their corporate and lobbyist bankrollers to disrupt, heckle and block meaningful debate. This is a desperation move, meant to slow the momentum for change.
Mob rule is not democracy. People have a democratic right to express themselves and our elected leaders have a right to hear from their constituents -- not organized thugs whose sole purpose is to shut down the conversation and attempt to scare our leaders into inaction
We call on the insurance companies, the lobbyists and the Republican leaders who are cheering them on to halt these 'Brooks Brothers Riot' tactics. Health care is a crucial issue and everyone - on all sides of the issue - deserves to be heard.

I hope the Union workers speak up and quiet down these right wing fascists- But i don't want to see violence-The right wingers may try and provoke violence....We may be headed that way- IF violent brawls break out-How will the so called mainstream media cover it?

My favorites are clips of right wingers who are ON MEDICARE saying they don't want the government getting involved with health care.

Idiots.

WE already have video. We need to get in their faces. Tell them how they are being punked by corporations who don't give a god damn about them. That they only want their money. and are being used. And I mean using the same tactics they are using.

These "meetings" need to be made orderly. That means no interrupting during the initial speech and people queue for Q&A and wait their turn to speak. Any outburst or disruption should result in the offender being frogmarched to the door, photo'd, finger printed, and posted on a web site so they can be screened and banned from other meetings.

I don't object to people of all views coming to listen and discuss. I object to disorderly conduct and willful disruption of communication

for the Democrats to demand police protection and police control of the event in Denver. There is no excuse for this event to take place without the proper authorities there to make sure people act in accordance with the law and respect for the proceedings or get removed it they do not. This should be a first priority and one the sends out a strong message across the country for future townhalls. These fake protestors are disallowing democracy to take place. Arrest those that warrant it, and remove the others for disorderly conduct. This is hate, pure and simple, and should be treated as such.

I can't imagine there won't be huge police protection. God damn the speaker of the House. I hope the belligerent Geritol group get their head pounded.

I don't see why those inciting this behavior, lobbyists, wingnut shock jocks, Faux news in general, shouldn't be charged with sedition. It is a crime to incite others to violence against the government.

Of course, if we have to rely on Congress, it'll never happen. What's it going to take (a greater majority than three-fifths?) to simply reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, which would eliminate cabal news? To arrest people for disorderly conduct? If it were Republicans on the dais and Democratic activists protesting, we know what would happen.
