Gov. Perry Talks Secession for Texas at Tea Party: "Texas Can Leave Union If It Wants To"
By John Amato Wednesday Apr 15, 2009 3:21pm
All the insane talk coming from the Limbaugh National Convention is spreading into the fabric of the entire GOP. Listen to Texas Gov. Rick Perry say:
Perry: Texas is a unique place. When we came into the Union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that.
We got a great Union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it, but if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what may come out of that.
These republicans are talking treason in my mind. As soon as a Democratic president is inaugurated after conservatives led the charge and collapsed our economy, these freak show conservatives are now talking sucession. OH, Lord---help us all.
Or, WTF is going on with these lunatics?
Jon writes:
Just FYI, on Perry's 1845 statement, Texas came into the union with the ability to divide into five states, not withdraw. After seceding during the Civil War, Texas was allowed to re-enter the union after ratifying the 13th Amendment. The 13th Amendment banned slavery in the United States and any territory subject to its jurisdiction
During the speech, people waved "Don't Tread on Me" flags and signs lampooning the Obama administration's economic stimulus efforts. Some shouted, "Secede!"
Among the signs: "Obama. Liar in Chief" and "I'll Keep My Guns and Money. You Can Keep the Change."
Perry told reporters following his speech that Texans might get so frustrated with the government they would want to secede from the union.
"There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that."

you want to secede? You couldn't have done this back in '99 so we could have been spared shrub? As usual, Texas is a day late and 10 trillion dollars short.
No, they want to fuck the country up then leave.
First off if you think that Pres Bush caused this financial mess you are a nut. The mortgage problems began with Jimmy Carter when he signed into law the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. This FORCED banks into giving loans to low income families who could not normally afford a house and had no collateral.
Then if you would do your research instead of spouting trash, you would know your boy Barak Obama was hip deep into it as a lawyer who sued Citibank on behalf of ACORN to force them to adhere to the community reinvestment act on behalf of people who couldn't afford these houses.
Barney Frank testified over 2 years prior to the Fannie and Freddy insolvency that they were sound and had NO issues meanwhile he was literally in bed with his boyfriend who was an Exec of Fannie.
Let me tell you something about Texas fella; we created 80% of all job in the entire US last year; we are self sufficient in both manufacturing and energy. We would not have to import one drop of oil based on our own comsumption. If we were a nation we would have the 8th largest GDP in the world. We lead the country in wind power generation. It is from the southern conservative states that the vaste majority of the armed forces get their soldiers. The north is must be either too passivist or has too many whimps to volunteer for service.
And! I am tired of paying for your piss poor managed state who outsourced all the jobs it had and has been in the red for years.
Instead of being sick of the perversion of homosexuality, you embrace it as an alternative lifestyle.
I am sick of you liberal guys who think that Govt is your answer not realizing it is through taxing hard working people that they can do ANYTHING.. so they take from me and give to your screwed up state. To hell with that. There NEVER should have been social security, Medicaid, Medicare, ATF, etc.. the federal government usurped the powers of the states in the name of taxation.
Texas should suceed. We need the north ALOT less than you need us. To hell with your liberal fiscaly irresponsible philosophy.
Whatever they signed in 1845, Texas seceded at the start of the Civil War - and was conquered by the Union army. Doesn't that mean whatever they signed in 1845 is meaningless now?
You just go around Texas and ask how many people don't want to be part of America anymore. I would love to hear the answers (outside of his nit-wit followers that were at the rally)
Perry is a laughing stock in Texas and for some reason he thinks he can run for President and win. Why not? The rest of the county voted for *W*.
I mean some of you dumb fucks want to talk shit about Texas but people in your states voted for Bush and gave him 8 years. So how smart are you folks?
Hell, Cali gave us Ronald Reagan and look at Arnold......
Nit wit's at tea rally's? lol. The Nit Wit's are here and not at the tea rally's. Taxed Enough Already is what we protested. Do you even realize that the tax rate will DOUBLE by the end of 10 years because of the rediculous spending that the federal government is doing now? We have and are going to spend over 5 TRILLION dollars in just one year of time. Since the Federal Reserve is NOT part of the federal government and is actually a seperate banking entity, they charge us interest on the money they print for us. Since this is NEW money, we have to pay the debt plus interest. This will equal over 10 TRILLION dollars of NEW debt in 10 years. That is over $77,000 per person in the USA.
I suppose you think the federal govt should be responsible for your healthcare, social security, etc.. Where do you think this money comes from to pay for these services?? Off a money tree? lol. It comes from our ability to pay it off through the GDP (gross domestic product). In other words, your work. if you hit 100% of your GDP you are working 100% to pay your taxes. Not your mortgage, not your electricity, not your car note, nothing but taxes. With this spending they have recently done (starting with George W. Bush and now massively more with Barak Obama, we will be greatly increasing our tax burden.) You don't care?? You were not at the TEA rally? You are then a fool and you and your money will soon be parted.
I think you mean secession. Succession is what comes after... :)
And these guys are doing all kinds of no good for this country in an attempt to regain power so that they can do all kinds of no good for this country.
J
And you know what they say...
If at first you don't succeed, suck, suck, suck until you do succeed.
J
PLEASE!?!?!
John, it's "secession" rather than "succession." Just another Texas pedant who's heard this Perry drivel before making sure his stupidity is right out there for people to see.
I replied just after you and looked up in the headline to see how it was spelled, because I thought I was wrong in wanting to spell it secession. I'm getting old and thought perhaps I had forgotten how to spell the correct word.
is how carefully he parsed his words. I do believe that the Texas Legislature and the courts could do something fun for Gov. Perry, like having him removed from office, if he actually started seriously suggesting secession.
As was pointed out one "The Ed Show" tonight, he refused to take stimulus money, and Ed's guest, Kinky Friedman(?) pointed out, Rick
could have used that money to hire his unemployed to rebuild Galveston. Definitely another of those "out-for-myself" pols who deserves to get the boot.
Take Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Georgia and South Carolina with you. You can have everything south of Raleigh here in North Carolina and the Florida panhandle as well. Do you think we are that enamored of fools and bigots?
would all the right-wing redneck jackoffs blame for all of the world's problems? Don't you know it's always the fault of them no-good commie-pinko homo-lovin' east coast and San Francisco ivory tower elitists that have caused trouble. Not them. Never. :)
what a wonderful day that would be
The USA then invades the newly-formed Lone Star Republic, takes control of its oil, responds to the inevitable insurgency by bombing the shit out of every Republican enclave in the state, I mean country, and then proceeds to economically suck it dry for a decade or two. Now THAT's suck-session we can believe in!
For small talk at a party, ask which 5 states people would like to drop if they could drop any 5 states. Unsurprisingly, there's always a core of states from the Bible belt. Oklahoma's always first on my list.
We from Texas would gladly take all of the states you listed. We will also take with it the rights to these states oil and minerals, plus all the shipping and trade in the gulf.
Your democratic elected government can then leave us alone when we don't believe the way they want to MAKE us believe. We can then freely have freedom of speech and religion without persecution. We also wouldn't have fear of being placed on a "watch" list for disagreeing with what our government is doing, or being placed on a “watch” list after coming home from protecting our nation.
I think this is a perfect solution!! All you liberalistic, pseudo intellectuals can then live in your idealistic, socialist world without the support of capitalism.
I don't understand why liberals are all about freedom of speech until it's something they disagree with.
TX can only go if they take Oklahoma, the second-stupidest state in the Union.
What is America's wang ranking?
Louisiana
voted Republican. This is the only state in America that this is true for.
can we at least keep Texans from playing on the OU football team?
Just don't come crying for money from the federal government next time Gavelston gets hit by another hurricane. Or any other city. By the way Gavelston is still a mess. Good luck protecting your borders from the Mexican drug cartel. I would love to see it. It would raise the integrity and respect of this country if Texas was no longer part of it.
By the way even talk like this is considered treason, lock him up.
Galveston isn't 100% but it isn't a disaster either. Tourism, businesses, and schools are already fully functional. Some houses will never be built again and that's OK. It hasn't even been a year since the hurricane! Kemah is already back in operation. Thanks to capitalism, it didn't need govt assistance.
We do protect our own borders... We live on it!! Plus we embrace LEGAL immigration. We are very familiar with our Mexican neighbors. We work with them and live down the street from them. Even they are scared of the thugs mucking up the borders. Our government has neutered our border guards. They can't protect us!! They aren't allowed!! The way things are now, the thugs have more rights than our border guards. I guess we should all go hug a thug and sing Cum By Ya.
I wish he (and Glenn Beck, though he doesn't live in Texas, does he??) would put their money where their mouths are and JUST DO IT! We'll see how far they get with their "independence" when they have only the citizens of their "country" paying taxes! Goodbye new bridges, roads, schools, Medicare and probably even Social Security (it IS a federal program, is it not??) I'm pretty sure the citizens would end up leaving in droves after they've held daily tea parties against their new-found government.
I hope they go ahead and do it. It'll be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
Nope,
It's like crossing racial lines:
Once you go black, there's no going back.
Or as Homer Simpson put it:
Once you go Vatican, you can't go back again.
If something is too hard to do, it's not worth doing.
Is that a promise? Then by all means.
And take Beck and ted Nugent with you.
(Funny: when lib'ruls talk this way, it's "sedition.")
...to keep out all them damn illegal immigrants from New Mexico."
...we close all the military bases...let 'em secede...then assist Mexico in an invasion that would take it back. To hell with 'em if that's what they want.
Let them secede, Invade, take all the land back and reduce Texas to "territory" status. Buncha 10 gallon asshats..
They're kilo asshats now.
I would be glad to help with that. What a jackass this Texan is.
Texas Can leave Union If It Wants To
Not according to the Supreme Court.
No, you can not secede from the Union. If you try, you will be met by force of arms not only by many in your own state, but in others as well. We will not allow Big Business the satisfaction of breaking apart the world's only super power because it suits their interest. If you want to take back your government start by stop auctioning off your opinion to the biggest lobbying group. Find a backbone, some morales and help us shake off these parasites.
Conservatives are Americans too, and as much as it loathes me to admit this, we need you folks. Hell, the free world is scared to death of the US in no small part to the fact that we have such a powerful number of fucking retards who think it would be cool to mushroom cloud another country. That is helpful every now and again....
Peace.
Rick Beagle
Right on Rick.
Perry is an idiot, has always been an idiot and will die an idiot. He's the worst Texas Gov since I've been here and Lord knows I've seen lots of bad ones. He's a serial liar, a known adulterer and has long been in the pockets of the chemical companies. As Ag Commissioner, he pretty much destroyed the Texas cotton crop by forcing Monsanto chemicals onto the farmers, thus killing all insects including the beneficials and making the crops easy prey to boll weevils from out of state and Mexico. He panders to the religious right because there are lots of them in these parts, but really has no values himself -- other than getting power and making money by selling out the interests of the people of this state. Unfortunately, in Texas if you talk abortion, guns and God, you can dupe the voters every time.
that Bush's policies killed Barton Creek. It used to be lush with fauna and now it looks like the moon.
and Bush had no policies that had an impact on Bartoin Creek.
I've lived in Austin my entire life and:
Governor Bush's role in Austin salamander and water quality controversies discloses the true meaning of his campaign slogan, "Let Texans Run Texas." During his first gubernatorial campaign in 1994, he opposed efforts to give Barton Springs an "outstanding natural resource waters" designation that would have increased protections for water quality at this popular spring-fed swimming pool.(3) In 1995 he supported passage of legislation designed to thwart an Austin citizens' initiative and other ordinances designed to protect water quality and endangered species in Barton Creek and the Barton Springs Swimming Pool.(4) Lobbyists representing a variety of pro-property rights and real estate groups supported this legislation while also contributing $1,350,279 to Governor Bush's gubernatorial campaigns.(5) The Austin citizens' initiative would have increased restrictions on real estate developments planned for the Barton Creek watershed and Barton Springs recharge zone.
In January 1992, Dr. Mark Kirkpatrick and Barbara Mahler of the University of Texas submitted a petition to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to list the Barton Springs Salamander as Endangered.(6) Two years later, in February 1994, FWS published a formal listing proposal for this species. This triggered efforts by Governor Bush to pressure Secretary of the Interior, Bruce Babbitt, to delay listing this species as Endangered until further studies were completed.
In July 1995, Governor Bush ridiculed environmentalists' concerns in a press release while claiming that 18 years of TNRCC water quality data showed no decline in water quality at Barton Springs and therefore no need to list the salamander as endangered.
here's the website: http://www.txpeer.org/Bush/Salamander_Wars.html
Do not paint me a moron, moron.
The pool was filled with fauna when I was there all the time when I was a kid: 1980s and now it is not. Do you just like to argue for the sake of arguing? You should check facts before you write. Just a little advice. Trolls defend their leader. Troll? You're actually defending Bush? I don't think you belong here.
I read some of your comments. You're a now-it-all. Explains everything.
I worked in the Legislature for liberal Democrats the entire time Bush was Governor. The damage done to Barton Creek was done before Ann Richards got elected.
Bush opposed nonsensical policies by progressives that made them feel good but which would have done little or nothing to reverse the damage to the creek which was done by development which occured in the thirties, forties, fifties and ad infinitum.
which is man made. Didn't say you hadn't seen Barton Creek.
I said you haven't seen the moon. They are not at all alike.
Very informative stuff here. I think a shit fly named rickee has buzzed along since he's no match for your facts.
Rick Perry is a stupid asshole; hope he gets thrown out of office for his treasonous comments. GOP losers are attempting to finish off what's left of this BUSH-RAVAGED COUNTRY. Sore losers of the highly toxic type.
I had Rick Santorum as a Senator and I send you my condolences for having such a schmuck running your country...errr...state.
From what I understand it won't be GW as the new president of Texas it will be Chuck Norris.
I say that Texas, with Dumbya, should do all the rest of the USA a real big favor and secede from this country asap. Nobody needs them.
jWho is running against this moron Perry anyway??
and Bob Schieffer's brother Tom, who was prexy of the Texas Rangers when Bush was managing partner. That's the baseball team, not the Comanche killing vigilante squad we still have as a holdover so Chuck Norris can play something other than a King Fu fighter.
the Texas Rangers grew out of that terrible past and are now very respectable cops who are primarily involved in investigative work.
Texas Department of Public Safety. The last major attention they garnered was when they were used as union busters in the Valley but that was under Connally. They have been pretty low profile since that blew up.
Update...in my snark about the Rangers I meant to refer to Kung Fu fighter, not King Fu. Even I know Yul Brenner played that role opposite Deborah Kerr.
I know all that.
Rick will be good as a mexican province master...All the help he'll ever need will come immediately the next time a hurricane hits Houston... or a range fire takes out half of the west of mex-i-tex, or the drought gets worse and worse as the crops die..all the aid Rick will ever need will be right on the way from mexico city...
Oh and that semi-boarder crossing in Laredo...that comes down day 1..you think you got a war down there now..HA! Wait until they need a car wash..or want some of that fine Rudy's BBQ in Austin....or some folks want them some cheerleader booty from Dallas...yes sir ... Rick will do just fine as a mex-i-tex province master...
Not all of Texas has their heads up their asses. There are lots o Liberals here and let me tell you this: I've been behind Rick Perry at the grocery store. The man is short and dainty. A real pansy ass. Truly the worst Governor ever.
sexual orientation. Gay bashers take his measure from behind at the grocery store?
Leave now!!! Lave now Governor Perry!
I would be happy if you all of you idiot Texans left the USA!!!! Take the Deep South {states in deep south whom also get more federal aid/money per capita than states in the "liberal northeast"]with ya while you're at it, too. And all those jackasses that were at the Teabag--KKK rallies today as well! Perhaps, you can continue your in-breeding when ya leave too.
America would be better off without all of you dumbass traitors!!!
Wed, 04/15/2009 - 16:53 — EastCoastLefty62
Lave now Governor Perry!

You want him to bathe?
The Governor's mansion could use some work since Rick let homegrown terrorists burn it down.
should actually be a state's right, imo. America is a union of states, not a states' prison where each is beholden to the federal government. If Texas wanted to secede, it should be up to her citizens and nobody else.
Frankly, I'd like the same thing for CA.
Okay Traitor! You can always get your lazy ass out of here now!!!
Why don't you be "man enough" to get your ass out of America right now, or are you too chickenshit to make an individual stand yourself?
I thought you right wing scumbags were individualists and not collectivists? What are you waiting for, right-wing groupthink to lead your so-called individualist ways, into this new horizon of yours?
Leave now, why don't ya! Or, do you have to wait for one of your right wing tools, to show your dumbass the way out?
eastcoast..baby...you need a valium or something....cannot reasonable people confer, discuss and disagree.....isn't America about being able to hold your own opinion......but you seem to think if everyone doesn't think like you.....that we are bigots and should leave the country.....sorry......we are America.....just as you are.....so find a decent mind-altering substance and stick with it...it just may help you in the long run...
Regards,
O'Guillory
If the drugs you're using lead to excessive use of ellipses, I'll pass, thanks.
I'm actually quite liberal and agree with left-wing policies most of the time. But I also believe that most power should be concentrated with the individual, then the state, then the federal government. The people should have the right to direct state politics to exit federal politics as the people see fit.
California has the eighth largest economy in the world and they have basically decriminalized pot.
The feds keep coming in and busting up the medical marijuana dispensaries and if California seceded then the feds would no longer have the right to meddle in California's affairs.
Of course, I guess the feds would be able to nuke us if we lived there.
Nevermind....
Texas is full of myths like "we can secede whenever we want." There's an old saw that states "Texas' flag is the only flag in the Union that is allowed by law to fly at the same height as the U.S. flag."
Total crock of shit. First of all, threre are NO LAWS that pertain to the American flag, only a flag code (suggestions on how to display it.) Thus, you can do anything you want to the American flag and it isn't against the law (obviously, as long as you don't murder someone with it, etc.)
Second, there are no restricitions on whether any other state flies its flag at the same height as the American flag. The flag code says that the American flag should be flown higher (and this suggestion INCLUDES the Texas flag), but there are no LAWS against flying the state one as high or higher.
Just more Texas bullshit.
The United States really should not claim Lance Armstrong when he competes internationally under the Lonestar flag -- and especially not because he cheats.
....but you hanve to take Oklahoma, Alabama, and Tenneesee too!
us Beale Street in Memphis. And maybe downtown Nashville. Great music.
whatever would we do without the wondrous land that brought us dick armey, tom delay, alberto gonzales, harriet miers, and of course dubya...hey texas, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
LBJ came from Texas. Okay, he fucked up with Vietnam but he did a lot of good things.
Bush, may I remind you, is NOT from Texas. He is from CT.
LBJ did what good things?
LBJ co-opted all the ideas set forth by JFK, MLK and the civil rights movement, and made those issues "his own."
LBJ was not only a total disaster, but his cynicism helped to ruin the Democratic Party for generations.
The 1965 Voting Rights act coomes to mind. MLK was not a politician and could inspire but not bring to fruition new laws.
We can only speculate if JFK lived.
That is the populist position in Texas.
I used to have a Secede bumper sticker on my pick up. Reagan was President then.
read the Declaration of Independence, read the US Constitution and read Professor Allan Bloom's The Closing of the American Mind. Then you'll understand why Natural Rights and the 10th Amendment are important. Then you'll see how both Bush and Obama are bad, and how the CFR and the FED are the real problems.
Or you can just react emotionally, without thinking, without reading, without really knowing what is true.
Guess what, Gov. Perry is a fraud.
He spoke at the 2007 Bilderberg event in Istanbul, Turkey. Bilderberg promotes the policy of the Third way (i.e. a Fascist Democracy), Economic Integration and this unnatural-evil form of globalization you all hate.
How could the good governor be against Big Government when he supports Big International Government?

Perry off to secret forum in Turkey
He'll speak about federalism at elite global conference

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry is flying to Istanbul, Turkey, today to speak at the super-secret Bilderberg Conference, a meeting of about 130 international leaders in business, media and politics.
You know, the guy who published the articles of Aryan Nation bigots in his magazine but claimed to be "not prejudiced."
The Republican from Texas - a neo-confederate jerk.
This comment ended up in the wrong place.
It was a reply to the deluded O'Guillory below...
Thank Marx for the ignore button.
prayer was well meant, and I don't me to be obtuse, just obscure, but I think Marx wouldn't ignore much, I think of Ignore more as a Stalinist tactic than Marxian gesture.
....Ron Paul is not a bigot.....you may not agree with his political beliefs.....but he and Feingold at least try to live by their beliefs.....RP has not taken a dime of pork in his district and he is a firm believer in the Constitution......dude, I was raised by a six-foot-nine-inch, corrupt, racsist, alcholic cop....I know prejudice.....I know rascism.....
...and I'm neither deluded.....nor a bigot..
Regards,
O'Guillory
Or was he your step-daddy?
Fine. Secede. Support yourselves. Defend yourselves. Run your own economy. Good luck!
if we could shake off the tendency to elect idiots like Perry.
she'd be your uncle.
....look,...I don't trust any of the pols, except for Ron Paul and a few others I think still have some integrity...but why the disdain for the idea of seccession? Doesn't the constitution say that when a government becomes a threat to liberty that we have the right, the responsability to replace it?
....C&L is full of people who hate what their government is doing...and the civil war was actually an illegal effort on good old Abe's part..in which he violated every aspect of his oath...just because the Union won with overwhelming industrial capacity.....it did not make them correct...I don't like Perry or any of his political partners.....but we better start thinking of a day when the line is crossed and we have to decide....revolution(peaceful), seccession (peaceful) or slavery......
Anybody who thinks the last twenty-five years of continual and increased levels of oppression is not a calculated, purposeful agenda....well, you have not been paying attention...
Regards,
O'Guillory
"the last twenty-five years of continual and increased levels of oppression"
For who? Oh, "oppression for the white man" who was "forced" to allow blacks and women their "rights" and to date not even all their full rights, as American citizens.
You high man, or what?
Oppression in America just started within the last 25 years? You need some serious education.
What kind of drugs you on? Crack or Crystal Meth?
Please clarify what the hell you are talking about because you make no sense at all.
ok...eastcoast...
Lets start with the War on Drugs......do you think our founding fathers set up the constitution so that we could have no'knock raids.....why is it that 80 years ago we needed a constitutional ammendment to abolish alchohol....and one to legalize it again....yet the Fed/Gov now has the right to decide what goes in my body?...wait till they come tell you that you cannot abort your child....same premise.....how about the government intrusion into your finacial records and bank accounts......oh, I'm sorry...I'm sure the constitution calls for rendition...and torture....but wait...how about unfunded requirments by the federal gov to the states....? Do you think that the constitution allows for the theft of our taxes...and please do not tell me about the 16th ammendment (faked approval by a guy named Philander Knox)...do you know anything about how the constitution requires apportioned taxation?
And lets get something straight...I just retired from US DOD..and was an EEO Investigator and Diversity Instructor....I've lived all over the world and have seen more corruption than you can imagine.....so take your "white man" comment and shove it up your ass.......I care about what the constitution was meant to be...not the abortion that you see being mis-managed and abused everyday by our governments...
Regards,
O'Guillory
..oh yeah...I forgot about Vietnam, Greneda, Gulf War I, Somolia, Gulf War II......and any other...un-declared wars.....
Yes, this post of yours is much better and clear in contrast to your previous post, which made no sense at all.
At the same time, your gripes are more of the same old ones heard over and over again.
Your people have also made these types of laws. Just remember this one Mr---Every Republican in the U.S. Senate voted for the Pattiot Act--every one of them.
The only person in the U.S. Senate to oppose the Patriot Act was Russ Feingold--Democrat of Wisconsin. It has been you right wingers who have wanted more and more law and order in the USA and this extends into the very civil liberties issues you are whining above. It is the right wing justices whom believe "privacy issues" are not a "right" as well.
As for me, I am glad there are emission tests for motor vehicles. Ever get behind an automobile and have to ingest those fumes coming right into your lungs? I am glad you do not care if you have to ingest such things. I should not have to ingest your car fumes on a public road.
I guess you oppose rights for African-Americans and the rights of women who were once denied the right to vote and barred from the public/private commons. I suppose you believe in segregation too.
At least you clarified your misguided, but, now very clear positions. Good luck in your retirement from the US DOD, and thanks for your service to America. Take care.
...so eastcoast..
......MY PEOPLE..? (talk about bigotry)
..why the need to label me as "a right winger".....you have no clue about me...or what you are talking about...did you not read my post...I spent 20 years teaching people about bigotry and hatred....and investigating illegal treatment of people based upon their race, sex...etc...
...but you know...if you are going to have a discussion about the constitution....and liberty,.....we should talk about its purpose......which was restricting the government's power.......Americans are scared to death of their government, irs, police....
So, no....I'm none of the things you accused me of, but I do know that liberty can be messy.....
Regards,
O'Guillory
I read your post and yes--you are a bigot in my view, by your very implications.
....gee,...I really want to hear this...."by implication"......I'm a bigot.....try to explain that one...
Regards,
O'Guillory
"so take your "white man" comment and shove it up your ass"
No, I will let that comment stand and refuse to take it back. You can shove that phrase up your ass!
You can always leave America if you want to, ya know. Nobody is stopping you to do so. You are obviously tone deaf and indifferent to the real oppression which happened in America longer than the last 25 years.
One last thing---The Rev. Jeremiah Wright was right on in all he said in those sermons heard on the Internet about the USA being the USA of the UKKK. You are a useful idiot within this example too.
I am not impressed by your so-called "wordly travels" either.
Again, Happy Retirement! Just remember buster--you cannnot do your mind control tricks on me.
....mind control, if I was going to try to use it...would only work if you had a mind to control...
Regards,
O'Guillory
Back at you....your mind is nothing to ride home about.
Your superficial analysis (which means nothing) is very idiotic too.
So far, your posts are adding up to typical right wing idiocy and insanity known to be part and parcel of you right wing criminals.
...write home about......
Regards,
O'Guillory
p.s. - nope my mind is just fine...136 IQ.....
Been taking those Web tests, huh? What is your real age? Got any free governement grants for Christian stay at home moms yet?
Oguillory----you are a very transparent right winger, despite your fancy denials.
It is not difficult to tell the right wingers who attempt to infiltrate Crooks and Liars. You were easy to pick off.
Keep denying you are a right winger, and by extension, very useful idiot, but, you have already given yourself away!
United we stand, divided we fall.
Duh.
Take healthcare for one example. Unless you are 65 and can use Medicare it is basically "every man, woman and child for themselves".
If we were REALLY united as a country we would at least be civilized enough to use a significant portion of our taxes for a universal health care system.
I agree with Michael Moore's comments at the end of his documentary "Sicko"....(I'm paraphrasing here): "Wouldn't it be a great day in America when we come to the notion that "we" is more important in healthcare than just "me"?
I agree. I truly wish we could be united in that respect. But we are not. There are the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS. Eventually pots do boil and overflow. That's where we are headed right now in this country.
I will never unite with right-wing jerks!!!!
I do not engage with any of these right-wing nutcases of the KKK who cannot read or reason with any notion of logical thinking.
I think my point has been lost. Lot's of excitement tonight ;)
Right-Wingers are the Enemy of any sense of decent society for all Americans. As such, I will never unite with those pieces of human vermin of the right-wing. These right wingers have nothing constructive to offer to a better world or society-in America, but are abound with destrcutive solutions all wrapped up into the flag and constitution as if those two items are so "ideal." I do not compromise with these sick pricks at all. These people do not know or want compromise in any way, shape, or form. It is a total lost cause trying to meet these sub-human trash half-way. Let them starve for all I care not any longer. These people would not know gratitude or love if you tried to show it to them. Maybe the only place they will change at all is on their death beds, like Lee Atwater.
I say that right-wingers are the true enemies of liberty and freedom no matter what fanciful agreements they hand out or any their typical sophistry-like rationales.
He was covered by Article I, where the militia (by then the army) is called out to suppress insurrection.
He actually declared the South in insurrection, because England was waiting in the wings to help the South. Britain had interest in Confederte cotton. If Congress declared that we was at war with the South, that would have been recognizing their seperate Nationhood in their own words.
So England built up on the cotton colonies they already had in India.
kinda like Gov. Perry.
separate
Probably thinking of succession right now ;)
Confederate.
Last night I was commenting while half-asleep.
Go to Perry's website. The first article is about this topic and the one right below it he's against for FEMA's assistance. So he wants to leave the USA but wants Federal help? This man has just lost any credibility and any chance of becoming President. I think he lost his chance at re-election. This isgoing to bite him in the ass. He wont make it out of the primaries.
Bring the troops home to take care of the real threats to our country.
And Acidosis you forgot to name Bush Sr. invasion with the Gulf War for the protection of Saudi Arabia home of 15 of the 19 terrorist of 911 , Jed Bush Ex-governor of Florida , George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany
( http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/sep/25/u... ).
without secession. Texans just tell Perry and his supportes to leave the country. Problem solved.
What are going to do with states like Alabama, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Mississippi etc...
We got a lot of work to do...
Civil War??
It seems we're having kind of an "uncivil" one with words on this thread right now.
I would really hate to see my progressive relatives be forced to leave Texas because of asshats like Rick Perry.
When people hear complaining about government, no matter which side, left or right, the answer is always the same... If you dont like it - LEAVE.
The Texas Gov. talks about a whole state doing just that under Texas' right to do so (which would take a vote of the citizens, not just one Gov.) and look what happens.... those same people protest the idea and start talking treason, most especially those that reside outside of the Great State of Texas.
Perry never said anything about overthrowing the U. S. Government.
It's called dual citizenship.
It's kinda tempting to let them secede. Really, what has the hardcore Republican states* done for America except screw her over? Think of how much actual stuff we could get done without fighting them.
Only two things stop me from supporting Perry and his succession.
First, all of the innocent Americans who would suffer under a Texan government.
Second, we would in a few years have a big illegal immigration problem as Texans flee their backward country, stealing American jobs.
*Not people from those states which can be great, I'm referring to the elected officials for the most part.
Secession.
Thank you.
I hope they have a lot of export product because the union ain't going to continue to supply the tax dollars to keep Texan's comfortable. And the fellas like George W are going to stay rich and the middle class are going to get poor. Can you say Haiti?
We're having a two for one sale: ross perot jr and jerry jones.
Clinton Country? Or is it Clampett Country.
OIL. Texas could easily join OPEC. And they don't give much of a crap about the environment here.
Yes and no. The plan to drill for oil in Ft Worth suburbs got a lot of resistance as did TXU's plan for 11 new dirty coal electric plants.
lots of places where poor non white people live that they can destroy and pollute. So let's use those.
That's what TX repugs say.
I think it's in the Texas constitution that we can split into 3 states, but not secede whenever the right wing whiners get their collective Pampers full. I may be wrong though.
Think of it. Ten Rick Perrys in the Senate.
Rick "closet-case" Fairy..I mean Perry can stuff it. Look how well secession worked last time. As for those of you wanting it, do you REALLY want Texas to leave and take all its oil with it? I think not. We may have a lot of attention getting dumbasses here, but we aren't quite the rednecked right wing whiny rubes you seem to like to portray us as.
We'll take the oil fields...Sorry my mistake, Bush isn't around to take over a country for oil.
It's more blustering on the whiny right wing babies part. They'll threaten and whine, but won't do it, as the reality of becoming your own country is quite different from there delusions. That's why the South lost. Did not believe in reality.
As for Bush, can we please send him to Spain?
Sorry, if I offended you.
But I did say that I wasn't talking about individual people of which I'm sure Texas (like anywhere else) produces many good ones. It is those people that I wouldn't want to condemn to the type of government I'm sure Perry would create.
We had some great governors...Ann Richards...bless her. Perry is nothing but an embarrasment to Texas as Bush was to Texas AND the US.
just rope off some useless state, like maybe Utah or a Dakota, (no offense to any residents of said states on here), and dump all these losers in there with the condition that if they try to cross the state line, they are history?
The Dakotas have the most oil.

I will add this to the open forum later tonight, but I had a thought, and you folks will tell me whether I am nuts or not.
I read elements on both the Right and the Left side (I am left for certain), but it appears to me that we have a lot of things that we actually agree on. Of course those don't get the attention of the media or these blogs because, well because we agree.
So here is the thought, why don't we try to work with our right winged friends on coming up with a couple of items that we both strongly believe in and insure that all of our candidates going forward include in their platforms.
1) For example - Separation of Business and State. I am still kind of staring this one down, but honestly, the graft has gotten out of control. We need to ban lobbyists, curtail revolving door appointments, oppose conflict of interest appointments (big oil exec in charge of global climate control science?!), and a host of other things. But basically this is about returning government to the people....
2) Rule of Law. Why do so many people keep breaking the law while in office? The abysmal track record for prosecution is probably why. We need to return this country to a point where illegal actions have significant and guaranteed penalties.
3) Okay, I said a couple, but here is another one.... Election reform and term limits. Federal standards on elections provided henceforth (with funding) to insure that we have legitimate, transparent, and consistent voting practices irregardless of where you live. I am so sick of never ending elections and voter manipulation. Reform the election reform act (nice start, but it needs some more work). going back to number two, if you break the law and interfere with elections, it becomes a federal offense with significant penalties (ten years to life depending on violation). Term limits is a "why in the hell haven't we done this already" kind of thing....
Thoughts?
You said work with the right wing friends, the GOP party of no. Funny.
actually there is a sport between both right and left wing blogs where they constantly belittle each other. Which I enjoy, just like every other person here. But if you read past the flames, there are actually a few kernels of commonality between us. Consider my idea a grassroots movement to enter a common platform to the platforms. That way everyone can argue on whatever it is they want to argue on, but basic common beliefs don't get overlooked.
...blogs for the real world. The Democratic Party is about the closest thing right now to what your actually describing. Most people just care about getting what needs to be done accomplished, and assholes with their "left vs right" politics just get in the way. I don't see Obama playing political games yet, so I'll still give him a chance.
i want to shape local, state, and congressional candidates. start getting them out of the pockets of bb. consider it the trickle up with decency.... sigh, no chance in hell huh?
Honorable mission, but of course the best way to start is to run for office yourself! Most local offices aren't even contested here in Texas, the Republicans just get appointed practically.
I don't want to take away from what your suggesting, it just seems things are a little better off than you might see them, no need to reinvent the wheel. Support local politicians who you agree with and be sure to vote.
has the right wing ever been a group that anyone not part of it can work with?
Thoughts?
are just people too. And for the most part, they are good people. Unfortunately, the wing nuts have fucking made them all look like slobbering idiots, but that is an unfair caricature for many of them. The extremists will shoot me down for sure, but I think there are a LOT of others that would welcome this.... Naive, perhaps, but nothing is gained by not trying.....
It would be a good idea to find all the areas with which the right and left agree.

Rarely.
you have been putting quite a bit of thought into this haven't you?
We know that there are some reasonable people left in the GOP...watching teevee and reading blogs, you'd be hard pressed to find them though.
We MUST at least try to reach out and create a dialogue with those on the right.
Even if we fail, we can say we at least attempt to reach them...
We settled this in 1865. If I were a Texan, I'd start a recall movement now. This is treason. Where is the MSM?
..1865..settled..? I think not.....perhaps crushed by military might...but that victory did not settle the argument....otherwise you have to ignore the words of the constitution and the Declaration of Independence......
