Malkin once again proves that there's nothing so low that she won't do it. You may remember that she attacked 12-year-old Graeme Frost over the SCHIP vote and posted personal information about his family. Well, now she's lowering the bar and attacking an 11-year-old girl. (Malkin link here)

At least she's an equal-opportunity smear artist. I know this happened a few days ago, but I had to address it. Bob Cesca covered it with his post: Malkin and Fox News Are Stalking Children Again

It's a brand new conspiracy involving President Obama and an 11-year-old girl. The plot? To ask a question at a town hall meeting.

Scary. Run for your lives and all that.

Rewind to Tuesday afternoon when an 11-year-old girl asked President Obama a question about the "mean things" she observed on various protest signs outside. Malkin and other wingnuts swooped into action, investigating and exposing the girl's parents as -- shock, horror! -- supporters of the president. The girl's parents even donated some money and volunteered on the campaign.

Mind blowing, I know. It's like the Donald Sutherland scene in JFK.

But considering that there were literally millions of volunteers associated with the president's campaign, and considering that tickets for the event were available online where millions of supporters of the president typically hang out, it stands to reason that a few actual, you know, supporters would manage to acquire tickets.

Yet beyond this earth-shattering information uncovered by Malkin that Obama supporters attended an Obama event, there isn't any evidence whatsoever that the 11-year-old girl was coached or scripted by the White House. None. And, it goes without saying that Malkin and Fox News Channel are entirely ignorant of the fact that similar Bush events were revealed to be literally and entirely staged and scripted with attendees having to sign loyalty oaths.

Sean Hannity had Malkin on his Fox News show to try and justify her actions. I mean it's sickening. And yet networks like NBC put her on the TODAY show as if she's a credible person.

Malkin: The lie about the astroturfing is very important and I spent a lot of time today on my own blog talking about these Obamacare human stage props that OFA and HCAN have put forth. And yesterday in Portsmouth we saw it with that little girl who's mom happened to be a very invested and close ally of the Obama administration....

The lie is that she denies any astroturfing has been taking place at the town halls. I won't even post the information because it's been so heavily covered, but the words "truth and "lie" are interchangeable with Michelle so why bother giving her evidence when she clearly knows about it.

Eric Boehlert writes:

Wasn't Malkin's infamous, and creepy, 2007 Baltimore drive-by* bad enough? I guess not, because now Malkin's zeroing in on a young Massachusetts school girl. Why? Because she got to ask president Obama a question at a town hall forum. Bad idea! (She was an "in-the-tank questioner.") The girl may as well have painted a bull's eye on her back because Malkin and her online detective pals are takin' that kid down!!

Stay classy, Michelle.

Next up, Malkin steals a toddler's pacifier because his parents live in San Francisco and had an Obama bumper sticker. "It's just another cry baby socialist!"

They stay until whatever mental malaise is effecting them is cured, (or exorcised for the right-wing christians).

in the early days of her encampment outside Bush's Crawford compound. A solitary person represented the counter-protest on the day I was there (btw, Anderson Cooper was there that day, too), and I encouraged a young man her age to take her some water. He stood with her and chatted for a while, then reported back that she very much appreciated the water. She was very quiet and seemed disconcerted that we would help her (she was standing in the full sun with no hat or any kind of protection). I remember thinking how sad that she would be so discomfited by our thoughtfulness.

During Ms. Sheehan's tenure in Crawford, Bushbots escalated their counter-protests, mowing down the memorial to our dead soldiers, and physically threatening and harassing Ms. Sheehan and her supporters. Of all the challenges of that encampment--heat, lack of water, lack of showers and toilets, fire ants, sweat bees--I would wager that anyone who stayed there would agree that the Bushies were the worst threat they had to face.

Setting up little kids as targets is pretty low even for the Malkin. Hey Michelle, pick on someone your own size. Messing with little kids' lives is not what grown ups do.

It is a FACT that there is a division in this nation that WILL NOT HEAL. It is not only a political separation, but a philosophical & ethical separation as well. I love C&L, but face it folks, this uncovering of right-wing scoundrels has been ongoing now for years and years, and in spite of blatant evidence of right-wing corruptions and under-handed blind partisanship, it continues. I suppose it is time for a split (in my opinion). I seriously do not think these differences can be reconciled. The right-wing are capitalistic warmongers who justify their atrocities tooth and nail as "defending America" or to defend their greed they call it "fighting socialism". I cannot think of a solution. Having one more GOP as president will certainly spell the end of this nation and quite possibly ignite a civil war.

American Populist's picture

The problem is, the cure is worse than the disease.

But don't worry, one day the French people will rise up en masse and the reign of Louis the 16th will come to a bitter end.

I don't know if we'd ever really recover from something like that, however. I'm not a gloom and doom sort of person, but I see history repeating itself. Don't get me wrong, I'm not worried about those who have it coming. I'm heartbroken at the idea that so many people would have to suffer if history repeats itself again.

You are correct, however. There is a moral, ethical, and ideological split that grows only more polarized at the ends. Middle America is disappearing as sides are being taken. In my (recent) younger years I considered myself to be a Moderate with (lower case C) conservative fiscal leanings but (lower case L) liberal social ideals. I now see myself as weakly Moderate with heavy Socialist, Progressive Liberal, and Populist leans and beliefs. My wife says I'm not as Moderate as I think I am, and I'm sure she's correct on this. The past month has forced me to consider no longer self-identifying as Moderate. If I can be moved away from the Center then I know others can be, and have been. My life-long Conservative father is more liberal now than I've ever seen him. Instead of being staunchly Conservative he'd best be described as Mild to Moderate. For a man of 82, that's impressive.

I would like to believe that our system has room to resolve this without violence, rebellion, or revolution. I believe in the principles that this country was founded on and I believe that we have a great model for self-governance. What concerns me is that the Right has become so fascist that there is only one way to deal with them. Rationality and reason has left the leadership of the party and their mouthpieces are spouting their evil at every moment they get the chance. Free speech should be protected, but I disagree with the Supreme Court that Hate Speech ought to be protected all the time. I don't have a solution to resolving that.

I don't like the Nazi card being played, and I'm trying to avoid using it. But I see some very serious common behaviors between the Conservative Movement and their Republican political party and what happened with fascism in Germany, Italy, and Spain. The racial politics of the Nazis don't seem to apply to the Republicans but there is definitely a racial bigotry ensconced in the mainline party membership.

Democracy is the road to socialism. ~ Karl Marx

savannah43's picture

"The racial politics of the Nazis don't seem to apply to the Republicans but there is definitely a racial bigotry ensconced in the mainline party membership." As soon as they gin up enough noise from nitwits about this, their racist policies will emerge. They are absolutely there, as proven by Buchanan alone. If they were not there, you would think someone on their side would say so. Never happens unless some one calls them out, then they just vaguely deny any allegation. No one from their side ever denies this hatred proactively. They are Nazis. That is why Limbo goes on and on about the Dems being Nazis. He is intent on muddying the pool, and if he can define the term with his lies, those who take schooling from him will not realize who they are really believing in.

American Populist's picture

Oh, I completely agree with you on this. I'm just saying that there are still significant enough differences between the Nazis and Republicans to eschew the use of the Nazi Card. Even if the racism were blatant we'd be better of labeling them as Corporate Fascists like those that opposed FDR. The Nazis were the National Socialist German Workers Party. They were a mix of radical Left and Right-wing political ideas. The Republican party are purely Right-wing fascists. It's worth noting that even historical fascism was opposed to Capitalism run amok. Hence why I call them Corporate Fascists. They have all the elements, attitudes, political tactics, and behaviors of fascism but are missing many of the key historical qualities regarding economics.

What we see in Republican fascism is the belief that unrestrained capitalism is the best economic policy in addition to theocratic agendas that would have made Hitler and Mussolini scratch their heads. Most of the core tenets are their, but the economics and theocratic beliefs are a new addition. It makes using "fascism" even harder as it's such a muddled word.

What we really ought to be doing is moving away from these meaningless and politically loaded terms and using proper labels such as totalitarian, despotic, and authoritarian. What I fear is the day when Republicanism is universally equatable with Nazism in more than just rhetoric. Until then, I guess we're just left with the best, if not most accurate, term (as I see it) of "Corporate Fascism."

Democracy is the road to socialism. ~ Karl Marx

The "bourbon" republicans, to use Garrison Keillor's term, are not really religious. They cultivate fundamentalists, especially, to use as bait in their quest for domination. They, like C Streeters, think of Jesus as a businessman, and themselves not only obligated by Jesus to do anything they want to assume absolute power over everything, but entitled to do so. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is their philosophy. Research it, if you doubt it.

chervilant's picture

exactly did you say in response to my post? Can you clean it up so it won't get deleted?

American Populist's picture

I just moved out of Georgia after living there for 15 years. I watched the hyper-religious Republican theocrat develop from a small fringe into the common attitude. I can tell you without question that the rank and file believe it utterly and completely. The people they voted into office either believed it or used it as a weapon. At the very top it is a different kind of fundamentalism that only some of them believe. It is about controlling people but it is also about what it looks like. There is a very good book on this called American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America. It's not a total put on and is very much believed in by far too many of them. It used to be that Republicans used the Religious Right and then gave them nothing. This is not the case now.

The Family is only just now getting play in the news because of chance and they have a very odd cult religion. They influence an elite group and this is, without doubt, a very bad thing. But the evangelical fundamentalist movement is the faith of the rank and file and can not be disregarded. Take a look at the funding of discriminatory religious programs and churches under the guise of helping charities that occurred under Bush. Prior to his Executive Order these places could never receive money from the government because of their programs and goals. Now they receive the lion's share of the money for charities.

Because I abandoned the nonsense that was the Christian Church a long time ago I have been very cautious of what they do and I spend a good deal of time keeping up to date on it. Believe me, I know very well what these people are up to and the different nuances that exist. They pose a very big threat to this country and they get away with it Scot free because they operate under the banner of religion. It is just not acceptable to question or denounce religion in this country. A damn shame, as there just isn't anything there worth keeping.

Take advantage of the newspaper's weakness now, in that they are losing readers. A little controversy will get them what they need, so they are likely to print what you write. About time.

QSE32's picture

so, do you think two wrongs make a right, as well?
So,If it's about time, then you know you're being hypocritical?
If it's wrong for them(which it is) then it's wrong for us too!
where does it end?
How does someone tell the difference in the sides if both sides are engaging in crap?

I have to back you on this one, Q. Wrong is wrong, no matter who is doing it. I try to avoid using slur terms (not always successfully when my ire is up) when speaking about politics because it doesn't enhance, but rather detracts, from the point I'm trying to make. It's not that I don't get angry as Hell and want to hurl spurious invectives, because I do. It's that the damage to my point isn't worth the cost of venting my frustration.

When Bush was in office it was easy to take the moral high ground. There was just so much to work with. When Newt ran the House, there was so much to be outraged about. Now that the Dems are in charge, there is likely just as much but Liberals are less likely to see it because of the nature of human bias. The reality is that no one has the back of the American People. Some are just more blatant about it, like the Republicans and the Libertarians.

The moral high ground can be claimed easily. It can only be maintained with consistent correct action. Hypocritical behavior is going to happen, but seeing it for what it is and repudiating it is required to maintain moral accuracy. None the less, it doesn't seem to matter what is right and what is wrong. We live in a era where the only thing that matters is winning, being in power, and staying there and damn anyone who wants you to be consistently right and moral while you're there.

and that's all I'm saying. I guess I wouldn't get so morally high if it was just regulated to the comment sections but when it's a featured Blog post i guess it bugs me because it seems like it's being distorted on purpose, which sucks cause we're already on the same team, no need for dishonesty or pettiness to flame the base. there are plenty of real issues and real problems with out going for the yellow journalism aspect of opinion or blog

American Populist's picture

Oh, there is definitely a place for yellow journalism in blog sites. There is also use for stories like this. When you want to get the choir worked up you take something like this an rile them up. You use it to reinforce your position that "they" are vile criminals and that rage you feel towards them is not only well placed, but justified.

Stories like this fulfill the first part of the site's name. Malkin is, without question, a vile, putrescent whore whose very existence worsens us all as a species. These dreadful tactics expose the moral character of Republican Fascism and it is good to be aware of them. It reminds us what we are working against.

None the less, it is far less important than many other things and it's a damn shame that it drives a wedge between those of us who want to see progress occur. What bothers me most is the hypocrisy demonstrated by those who have said horrifying things about the children of Republican foot soldiers. It's the same fetid poison, regardless of where it comes from. I wish people would learn that. If it's wrong for them to do, then it's wrong for us to do. But, winning is all that matters... right?

No, I don't have to admit that 'the roles are just reversed now, and rightly so"!! While I despair that ANY of us fall prey to the bipartisan red herrings routinely promulgated by the Corporatists (who are increasingly ecstatic about how easily they've deflected our attention from the real issues), I see a distinct difference in how the extreme right supports their position.

Perhaps if you focused your energy on promoting communication and teamwork, you wouldn't feel the need to wear your fireproof underwear...

Corporatists (who are increasingly ecstatic about how easily they've deflected our attention from the real issues),
You mean like wasting bandwidth for stories of wrong doing that have literally been done by both sides, but some how when they do it it's worse? yea I agree.

Perhaps if you focused your energy on promoting communication and teamwork, you wouldn't feel the need to wear your fireproof underwear

That's what I thought I was doing, but instead of communication I get flamed. No understanding (or intentionally misinterpreting -although, I hope not-) what was written so if there is a communication breakdown I will apologize if it's me, but seeing as how I've been polite (aside from aristotle remark), I've been defending myself, since I wrote it, from all kinds of anger rather having a discussion.

Coulter is still the Alpha Bitch. Malkin is and always will be a Beta Child

..all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides, they wear black, which is such a beastly colour. I'm so glad I'm a Beta. Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm really awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They...

I am to the point where this health care "debate" is almost to depressing to stand. On one side you have a relatively meek half way measure that is only a baby step toward what this country really needs. You have a huge amount of lobby money going into a smear campaign that is not cleaver in the least. They shout about death panels and Nazi comparisons that anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see is just plain lies. But the worse part is millions and millions of American citizens are buying it. Lock stock and barrel. People like Limbaugh, Coulter, Beck, Malkin, and Hannity are wildly popular and are being listened to. I am at the point where I want to throw up my hands and give up. Are Americans are just way to stupid to survive? Almost.

Shadowgm's picture

Yes. Stupid wins. It's like entropy. All of the stars will go dark and cold, and the whole of human achievement will be forgotten, nothing but dust and debris.

do not understand this and let stupid win, this will be the tone of our discourse on every issue form now on.

the corporate water carriers are your enemy.
they don't give a shit about you and your ideals.
another thing, if you goddam supposed liberals haven't learned who the enemy is by now you aint ever gonna learn.
no wonder progressives are useless at affecting change and so easily used by the lying liars.

Of course it's unacceptable for Malkin to be giving out personal information, but it's just as stomach churning seeing people use their children in that manner.

As long as it's not delivered with the bile of the teabaggers.

Obama would probably explain just what Socialism is and isn't, about petitioning the government for redress of grievances, and the Social Contract, and turn it into a learning opportunity.

parents were using her. They were trying to teach her to participate in this alleged democracy, and she also has a wonderful memory of being called on by the President of the US and allowed to ask a question. A good question. Well, she would have had a wonderful memory if not for the cypher Malkin. That the Malkin part of it gets any legs at all by the MSM is to give her disgusting drivel credence. I am shocked that that happened. Shocked, I tell you. We should be polite, and just ignore her behavior. Let's not lower ourselves to her level. Do not fight back. That behavior is or should be beneath us. We are better than that.

Michelle Malkin looks like a child herself. I'm so tired of these morally bankrupt wrong-wingers and the corrupt corporate media that gives them undue attention. When we had a liberal media back in the 70's and 80's these fringe people were safely in the shadows, man I miss those days.
