Pat Buchanan says Colin Powell endorsed Obama because he's black

Liberals in general are no fans of Colin Powell, but watching the right wing ideologues slam Powell because of his endorsement of Obama, I can only assume that they fear this particular endorsement because it will have an impact on undecided and independent voters. Pat Buchanan follows the lead of Rush Limbaugh and George Will and says that his only motivation was the color of his skin. A Red State writer actually says this:
Notice how Pat and his friends make this a racist issue? (Memeorandum has a whole lot more)

Buchanan: Alright, we gotta ask a question, look would Colin Powell be endorsing Obama if he were a white liberal democrat...Joan Walsh tells Pat that his assessment was "beneath him" and Matthews calls him out on it also. Wow, can you image that Colin Powell might consider the Supreme Court and economic policies before he makes a decision on who to vote for? Why would black people care about those issues right, Pat? He, like John McCain makes no sense at all. I remember hearing so many conservative and liberal women being upset when they felt others thought they should have thrown their support to Hillary just because she was a woman. This talk will only pick up as the week unfolds.
Walsh: Oh, Pat, I'm really sorry you went there.
Look, General Powell Started off by saying it would be electrifying an African American and it is naive Joan to suggest it had nothing to do with his decision.
Matthews: He said that if that were his driving motive he would have done it weeks ago because the guy looked African America weeks and months ago.
Walsh: And Obama's been courting him. He's been courting him for months.
Buchanan: This is why he threw in the whole kitchen sink. A lot fo things are silly and ridiculous. Economics and Supreme courts justices, it's...
Walsh; That's not silly...
Buchanan: All the motives except for the one everybody is wondering about.
Walsh: Which is what? Race, I mean Pat, you know Pat. this is beneath you.
Matthews: Why don't you go by what he said? Why do you have to attribute motives to people who don't say those things?
Walsh: And Sheila Jackson Lee stayed with Hillary and Stephanie stayed...

Get used to this... This is all the McCain campaign has left. The campaign, if you will, is in its last throes.
Learn some etiquette! http://www.filthyrichmond.com/2008/10/learn-s...
Yes, Mr Rumsfeld. You're always right arn't you....
wow, the transparency of racist fervor is really impressive. you know, the weird thing is - the republican racism that is dominating this election cycle could possible have a beneficial effect: flushing out racism into the open, so we can have a more productive dialogue (or even trialogue anyone..there are more than two races after all). that's the silver lining. the dark cloud is that there is racism on our major cable news networds, out in the open, and people are just getting slaps on the wrist. don't congratulate matthews for anything, he still invited this racist onto his show. and he's probably going to do it again.
There is no upside to any of this. We live in a dumb, bigoted, racist country. McCain lies constantly....says he never lies....and nobody seems to care.
that's not true. nothing is 100% good or 100% bad. it depends on the perspective which which you view it. ie. there is no universal good or bad, except possibly the formation of the universe and it's theoretical annhilation.
i think it's important to find some meaningful positivity in everything, otherwise you become trapped in negative thinking. and we all know what happens to you then - you vote for mccain.
Spoken like a true philosophy major. Bravo...bravo.
well put!!:)
POWELL ABSOLUTELY ENDORSED OBAMA BECAUSE HE'S BLACK!!! OUR COUNTRY IS IN DEEP, DEEP TROUBLE IF THIS RADICAL IS ELECTED!! SOCIALISM FOR SURE!!
wow. the undereducated continue to spout this socialist nonsense. did Illinois elect a radical to the senate? surely, the people there knew the candidate they elected overwhelmingly. Obama will bring intellectualism back to the white house and to the country. smart, articulate, he is the model for generations to come. america, don't allow fear and bigotry to deceive you. McCain was OK until Rove and company got a hold of him. He didn't want Palin. As a matter of fact, he lost many votes because of her. It's gonna be a landslide of epic proportions. no, not socialism, but compassion and intellect and hope.
You are an IDIOT if you would like to check Darryl...Obama got every other person who was running against him in Illinois kicked off the ticket he ran unopposed. He is as dirty as the Illinois godfather, and you are truely the #1 IDIOT you have drank too much Kool-Aid.
Undereduated??????? Surely you jest. Define socialism, please. Then see if redistribution of wealth might represent a part of that definition!!
Powell served both Bushes. He contributed to McCain's campaign last year. He chose to endorse Obama because the Republican party has moved too far to the right and John McCain chose a running mate that endangers our nation if he's elected. You silly Republican dinosaurs can call Barack Obama a Socialist, terrorist, Muslim but you know its all B.S. Its time you bigots went back into hiding, and hopefully for good!
We dinosaurs need not call Sen. Obama anything, his actions, associations and record say them for us.
All will find the following article profound. Please share with others

What a coincidence that all the black celebrities are voting for obama
and every black person ive meet as well. 99 percent of the black people i asked have never voted before and well what a coincidence they vote for obama. I say america is a nieve joke of a country and deserves what is has coming if obama is elected.
I say bullcrap to the calls that Pat's being racist. He's telling it how it probably really is. By Occum's razor, it seems much more likely that Powell's voting for Obama because he is black (and qualified--we're not talking Chris Rock here) rather than that self-deluding mumbo-jumbo he spewed forth on Meet the Press. We know how good the ol' general is at self-delusion: Remember back in 2003 when he thought Iraq was an imminent threat to our national security?
pat is telling it how it really is. it really is racist. i've had so many conversations with people with your perspective - you can't accept there is rampant racism because you are obviously white and have never experienced racism on a daily, frankly hourly, basis. people look at you and don't see a white man, they see the domesticated man that you are. but when people see a black man...well, they see black first, and then the man. your commnent only highlights how profoundly ingrained racism is in this country. so much that any deviation from the normalcy of racism is cause for alarm.
You are just assuming he's white???
i bet this one is white too
I'm a white who sees a man when I see Barack Obama. He is clearly the superior choice for President. Bush/Cheney have fucked up our country and been responsible for the loss of many innocent lives. Yes, there are some racists in this country but more non racists. Obama will make a great President!
What about all those times that African Americans have voted for WHITE politicians, OR WORSE, ALL THE TIMES WHITES HAVE VOTED FOR OTHER WHITE POLITICIANS-DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY WERE STRICTLY VOTING ALONG RACE LINES ALL ALONG, AND POLICY WAS REALLY IRRELEVANT TOO? DOUBTED IT. In fact, African Americans have been voting for them since Reconstruction, when they were allowed near a voting booth.
No. Powell endorsed Bush/Cheney last time around, and unlike those taking potshots at Powell, he has the highest approval ratings of ANYONE inside the Beltway, period. No, he made a crystal clear and analytical case. But that's the thing: when you are a person of color and articulate in America, you raise problems for many, many white Americans who have never had to be led by nonwhites. But in the military, thanks to Truman's executive order, people from all background take orders from people from all backgrounds, even if the military academies that produce officers are still predominantly white. So console yourself in saying this was just about race; what's killing me more than Powell's devastating critique of McCain's entire campaign is the way Tom Brokaw asked strictly conservative questions of Powell, including hit piece after hit piece of video trying to embarrass the General. But he handled it with aplomb, on his feet, with real answers. And he never batted an eyelash.
Palin could never in a hundred years have an interview like that, ducking and parrying Brokaw's points. She is the only VP nominee since 1952 to not do Meet the Press. But what is most egregious is that Brokaw is a self-professed close friend of Mr. McCain. There's no way that he is objective in this instance. But the media is letting it pass. Deplorable.

It's really too bad that Ayers didn't announce that he is endorsing McCain.
I disagree. The simplest explanation is that Powell is trying to make up for the corruption and, yes, Evil he was wholly complacent in when he helped talk us into a misbegotten war. Will the endorsement save his legacy? Probably not--if he'd done it back during the primaries... maybe.
Powell was a media darling until he made the UN address verifying WMD in Iraq. Then he became a media pariah.
Now he has redemption and is loved again.
I wonder what post he's seeking in an Obama Whitehouse?
I can dig Powell having some problems with the current status of the GOP. But, at least nominally, he IS a republican. And the Post Turtle (Obama) is the most liberal major candidate for the Presidency in...well, forever. He's pretty much a socialist, but he's ashamed to call himself one (tax cuts? Give me a break...when was the last time Post Turtle endorsed tax cuts?).
So you have this guy (Powell) who's been calling himself a republican for all these years, and now all of the sudden he craves having a socialist president? I don't buy it.
Powell doesn't like the way the GOP is running their campaign? OK, fair enough. And the answer is to support the socialist candidate with ties to a domestic terrorist? I don't buy it.
Powell is scared of the Justices McCain might nominate? And the answer is to support the socialist, pro-abortion candidate? I don't buy it.
Powell doesn't like McCain's VP choice? And the answer is to support the candidate that selected that lying, plagiarizing, blow-hard Joe Biden? I don't buy it.
If you change the color of the Post Turtle's skin, but leave in place all of his socialist beliefs, would Powell really endorse him? That's a tough sell. If Powell really wants to endorse the Post Turtle, he might as well endorse Bernie Sanders too, and join the Socialist Party.
You're a mean-spirited idiot. Has anyone else noticed that most conservative men with a slightly above average intelligence and/or knowledge-base consider themselves brilliant? To be fair, they are geniuses compared to most other republicans.
You are so right: In a room by one's self, it is seductive to hear the sound of your own clapping as continuing evidence of your genius.
If conservatism and conservative men were such geniuses, would the economy have been looted BY CONSERVATIVE BANKERS/MEN?
If conservatism and conservative men were such geniuses, would we now be engaged in two wars, one of which was wrong to begin with, and according to our own NIE, both of which we are losing?
If conservatism and conservative men were such geniuses, would capitalism now be completely in rout, at least in its free market aspects?
We can keep doing this all night. Wake up, "my friend." The real socialist is in residence at 1600 Penn Ave, Washington, DC, AS WE SPEAK. He set the NSA to spying on Americans phone sex; but really he's trained an entire class of NSA operatives on how Americans think and use the web to purchase items, info the private sector will give their right arms to have--and they're about to get it because they're gonna graduate in a couple months into the private sector for hefty salaries. Obama can't be more socialist than the plan your Republican President George W Bush dreamed up AND EXECUTED, I MIGHT ADD, BEFORE LEAVING OFFICE. You wanna try the ole switcheroo, but that buck stops at his doorstep. All the right wing radio talking points in the world can't make Mr. Obama MORE socialist than the current Republican administration, who did what he did with the help of his OWN party.
The real irony is, I can't imagine John McCain, and member of the very wealthiest 1% in America (a 1% that controls 90% of America's wealth) can convince mostly rural, largely financially disenfranchised white Ameircans night after night to hiss and boo against "spreading the wealth"!! While those most dienfranchised by Mr. McCain's upper class buy into it, as if the real issue were these wedge ones Republicans focus on so much. What a freaqn joke, night in, night out. You're saying: yeah--bail out bankers, Mr. McCain, but not "we" the "people." "We" only want to keep exactly what we earn, even though our productivity is going up and our wages are going down. There's already a class war in America, and the fact that you're on this blog means that YOU ARE NOT WINNING IT! Because, as KRS One once said, "real bad boys move in silence"!
And, by the way, spreading the wealth through shared sacrifice, what Mr. Obama has actually offered, IS DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE EARNING THE SAME RATION OUT OF A COMMON POT--which is what socialism is. Had the Greatest Generation not spread the wealth through shared sacrifice, the US might never have vanquished the Nazis or the Japanese in the Second World War. Spreading wealth, Mr. Obama's actual quote, is far different than SOCIALISM. Wait--let's go farther. There is already socialism in how Congress gets health care, or better yet, in how the military gets health care. That's okay with you, but not for everybody else? Seems like a powerful double standard. You like the kinds of socialism YOU approve of, just not others, is that it? It seems to me like the right can play on the inability of good conservatives from rural spaces to not recognize the difference, to not pursue precision as they make arguments. But Mr. Obama's argument is actually correct, and here's why.
China has 200 million rural workers (two thirds of the US population) that it is trying to interject into the global economy. We have about two presidential terms to get our technologies and green economy going (something the CEO of Google believes can be done in 10 years, and his team tells him this is a conservative estimate), so that we can sell it to them. Because once China goes online with those workers, given their lower wages and the power a true socialist govt has to manipulate labor and its economy, we are totally toast. What proposal has Mr. McCain put forward on this score? Not one. But Mr. Obama has pushed to put millions of good rural white folk to work in rural areas expanding broadband lines and access, so that our children can tap into the global economy; so that our children can begin again to excel in math and science, and so that rural genius and ingenuity and invention can be a part of America's answer to the silent tech/environmental race we are in with the likes of China and India and Brazil, and other emerging tech based economies. In this light, time is of the essence, and Mr. McCain is misleading you by not mentioning that this will be the central conflict of this century--one tied intimately to the environment. .
Look, China sent 250,000 workers to the Gobi Desert to plant trees to clean the air 5 years before the Olympics in Beijing; we would never do that without some kind of Manhattan project style mandate, which is what Mr. Obama needs once he becomes president. That's what a true socialist country like China can do. If we do not marshal a similar Manhattan project to get America moving, in 15 years, when China's put its milk and toy scandals behind it, we will be in far greater debt to it than we can dig out of. And then it WILL be too late. I know: I teach Chinese history at an elite college in the Midwest. We are up against a wall, and terrorism has very, very little to do with it.
Mr. Obama sees this, and also that: A) terrorists will never occupy America to rule it, and B) they will never bring it down either, because it is too vast, and our people would fight for every square inch with blood. So a far different gathering storm, one which we are not even beginning to deal with, is animated and focused on us to a far greater extent than we realize. China buys 500,000 US treasury bonds A DAY! If they called in their markers on our bad paper right now, we'd be indebted to them for the rest of a century that is already shifting China's way.
And what are we doing? Expending time, talent, and treasure on a Muslim world we were never capable of changing in the first place.

HeavyHeadtoo - - -Your comment is the one of few comments in this congested room of utter nonsense that makes sense. But the sad irony is that very very few paid any attention to your insightfulness of the truth. Your comment is prophetic and profound. In order for those individuals that suffer from their lack of insight on WORLD issues to graduate to understand the truth first they must get off the porch, go to the library, study a bit of hstory/current events and learn to think for themselves instead of allowing themselves to be seduced by hate-mongering pun-dents that get paid to confuse, & divide rather than enlighten. Here's a copy & paste of your thoughts one more time maybe this time a few more will read your comments. & learn from it.

Now that's the spirit! Powell is also racist, as is Obama.
You have got to be too young to know what liberal is or you would not make such an obviously silly mistake.
Thank's for the "post turtle" tell on the status of your intellectual/political acumen, anti-socialist. Although there's nothing you've said that I find worth commenting on, in the interest of purging yourself of any socialist trappings, I was just wondering if you'd mind signing over your social security benefits to me, since you "don't buy it."
Thanks in advance,
BlueNose
Colin Powell is definitley supporting Obama because HE IS BLACK!! Pat Buchanan hit the nail on the head...they say the whites are racists????? If Obama gets in it is ONLY because every black person in American is voting for him, because they have no clue if BO is qualified....Socialism....america is on it's way! Thanks to all you liberals....
I have to answer the question below to see if I am human????? What about all the ACORN employees! Do you question them? I doubt it.
Humm Let's see. If you don't vote for him just because he is black, then you are a racist. If you do vote for him just because he is black you are not a racist. Ask the general population "What are Obama's views?" and you will likely find that most don't know his socialist views concerning wealth redistribution. Most don't care as long as they can get some of those evil rich people's money. Be very weary of Obama's definition of rich. It will likely change as his spending needs increase and you might be his next victim.
Pat has to say things like this. He's an asshole.
This is how he thinks. In his America there would be Whites and slaves and all other races would be not be here.
ROFL
Why is it that when a white man mentions something like this he is a rasist and an "asshole"? Racism works both ways. I respect everyone's opinion even if I disagree but not this one. Look in the mirrow IMAB.
Partly, because he perpetuates a lie in doing so.
When Powell said it would be "electrifying" if Obama were elected, it was in response to this question, at a panel of five former Secretaries of State, back in September:
"Do you think electing Senator Obama would send the same message abroad as electing Senator McCain would? "
.
.
Then came Powell. “[T]o send that kind of a message, I think would be electrifying,” he said, “but at the same time, we have to make a judgment here ... which of the candidates blends a right measure of experience and judgment? I have been watching both of these individuals, and I know them both extremely well and I have not decided who I’m going to vote for yet.”
So, why do certain people continue to misstate that he was saying it would be electrifying if a "black man won"? He was saying nothing of the kind. He was responding that seeing Obama elected over McCain would be electrifying. Nothing more, nothing less.
The part about it being because he is black, was injected later by commentators such as Buchanan does here. It is a dishonesty.

Why is it that when a white man mentions something like this he is a rasist and an "asshole"? Racism works both ways. I respect everyone's opinion even if I disagree but not this one. Look in the mirror IMAB.
... Pat Buchanan is a racist asshole because he is implying that a black man supports another black person (albeit half black at that) because of the color of his skin, and could not possibly be because the content of his character.
I know that may be too complex for your brain to process, but git it a try.
Now, find me a clip in which Buchanan is claiming how an important McCain supporter is supporting him because he is an old rich white person too, and I will at least have a shred of respect for Buchanan due to consistency.
And Rachel Maddow needs to quit calling him her fake uncle and never ever allow him airtime on her show.
Whats the matter...Pat Buchanan hit a nerve????? He is right on!
From him, or all the other members of the 'rich white mens' club'.
by accident earlier..
time now for NBC / MSNBC to put Pat Buchanan out to pasture.
In dismissing Powell's endorsement, saying that he only supports Obama because he's black, Buchanan is essentially saying that Powell's well-reasoned opinion on the election is totally beside the point. Because Powell is black, his ideas aren't worth considering.
I'm beyond disgusted with this comb-over creep. I certainly hope there's a backlash that will put Pat out to pasture. His retirement is long overdue.
The ONLY reason Powell supports Obama is due to race. Powell is not a well-reasoned individual, at all! I worked for him. And he, Powell, is just trying to punish the reps for making him look bad. He said he would've ran, but the Iraq mud slung all over him too. Powell was the single most important and influential proponent for Iraq! He's a party traitor!
The world owes some a living...so they say......I vote for Bill Cosby for president...Now here is a man with a brain....and, oh, my goodness he is Black...BO on the otherhand hates america
KKK Chickkenhawkkk Buckkanon.
Thing is, it's NOT beneath Pat.
agree
Here by R.C. Lewontin, Professor Emeritus of Zoology at Harvard University:
Read the rest of the piece. There should be no such thing as 'Race'.
Thats what one of the ideology's that make America great, its too bad that all don't believe in it, It certainly wont be in my time but I would love to see the day when we are all one people and there is no race.
One less thing to fight about.
that was a great article - thanks
Anthropologists have been saying that for years. The trick is to get the toothless yokels lining up to get into McCain rallies to believe it. Good luck.
Joan Walsh was wonderful. I need to learn more about her.
For some reason I didn't get audio until I viewed it here:

(And neither of the download links work.)
But appreciate your bringing this to our attention... and I'll be following Joan Walsh from now on.

When Matthews accused Buchanan for attributing "tribal" reasons for Powell's endorsement. It was a perfect word to use and clearly painted Buchanan as an unapologetic racist. I am starting to get the impression that Matthews is beyond pissed by all of this and that he is starting to get worried. Time will tell if my impressions are correct.
What a bigoted pig; more lies regurgitated from a man that sells region to the religious for profit. How can anyone feel that this mans verbiage is but lies and why do I care what he as to say, because people are stupid enough to believe him, the brain dead that buy into his crap and will vote for what ever he says.
Thank GOD I'm agnostic.
:)
I am not surprised at any Republican now. As Americans of all colors lose their homes, jobs and life savings, McCain has no plan but to stay the Bush course it makes since to bring back hate. Pat knows he wont be getting the kick back money for lying when Bush goes. It's always about the money and greed with these guys. Now this trick worked in the old days but times have moved on and things have changed. Look for Pat to soon suck up like the rest of the KKK Journalist have done. I love the way Andrea Mitchell did an about turn when she knew her job was on the line. Katie Couric got smack down from Sarah Palin and Katie is the GOP sweetheart for lies and spin. Pat knows deep down in the end he will to suck up to the President of color for a pay check. Say good by to Bill O'Reilly and Tweety and take Brooks and Gregory with them. Hannity will glad to get a job on cable. Glen Beck will lose his contract and hit the bottle again.
Jackie,
It is amazing to me that no democrat such as yourself really ever direct any of the housing situation blame to your party. They were the ones in charge when the issues of financial inconsistencies were mentioned, yet it was referred to as a scare tactic. Even Bill Clinton admitted some blame, yet Nancy Pelosi says its a Republican Party problem. Amazing. Not sure what TV you are looking at but NBC, CBS, ABC are all in the tank for BO. You ever wonder why liberal talk radio never seem to be successful, its because there is no substance behind their commentary, but would you know about substance.
If anything does happen to Obama with all this incitement, you can bet the entire Republican Party is going to pile on McCain and Palin, and use him as a scapegoat.
McCain is such a fool.
And Bush comes out smelling like rose, it's like the fix is in or something. They are not leaving Iraq and they, big oil people, as it owns the Republicans lock, stock and barrel and they spend way too much money to leave that oil now - they'll do anything to stay there in Iraq.
Maybe I'm just a nervous conspiracy theorist, and I sincerely hope so on my part.
What else would you expect from racist Pat Buchannan?
Walsh: Oh, Pat, I'm really sorry you went there.
Really?.........You're surprised?..........Why?
You set him up to do it by putting that p.o.s. on the air!
That's what Puke-Cannon always does. Support the Retardlican agenda!
Play the race card.
That idiot is on tv every night on all the major networks including Faux. He is in the tank for John McStain and Parasalin and Agrees that the negative campaign is all good for McStain!
Knowing what he is, quit acting surprised when he goes there!
Buchanan, along with George will, Limbaugh and others - clearly did not actually READ the endorsement -- if they had, they would know better than to make such a stupid comment.
This man has no personal integrity. Who does he think he's helping at this point? He's merely trying to remain relevant. And it's not working.

Women are simply not endowed with the same measure of single-minded ambition and the will to succeed in the fiercely competitive world of Western capitalism." - Pat Buchanan
"Colin Powell disagrees with me on every issue." - Pat Buchanan
"[Hitler was] an individual of great courage, a soldier's soldier... [and] a political organizer of the first rank." - Pat Buchanan
"If correct, then all our efforts and expenditures not only for 'compensatory education' but to provide an 'equal chance at the starting line' are guaranteeing that we wind up with the intelligent ones coming in first. And every study shows blacks 15 I.Q. points below whites on average. . . . If there is no refutation, then it seems to me that a lot of what we are doing in terms of integration of blacks and whites -- but even more so, poor and well-to-do -- is less likely to result in accomodation than it is in perpetual friction -- as the incapable are played consciously by government side by side with the capable." - Pat Buchanan
Matthews told him last Friday that he "better watch out". If he keeps up his racism on the air, hopefully MSNBC will fire him or send him to Faux like Beck. Put all the nuts on Faux and then I can just ignore all of them on one channel instead of 3.
OK, Pat, since you take such pride in being a big mouth, opinionated bombthrower, call up Colin Powell yourself and ask him if race had anything to do with it. Go ahead, I dare you. But of course, you won't---because like most Neocons, you talk big but don't have the balls to follow through. Good thing you weren't Harry Callahan in Dirty Harry---you'd go talk your big time shit to criminals but when challenged, whip out your .44 magnum squirt gun.
What it really means, Pat, is that from now on you should put your undersize brain in gear before engaging your oversize mouth.
Why wouldn't he go there , his racist attitude has been public for years.
I was listening to this exchange tonight. Beneath him? How so? Buchanan’s already lower than whale shit. And this is the man who sang Powell's praises to the heavens when Powell was on board the Republican express. Now that he seems to have developed a conscience.....
By the way - Buchanan also said that Powell should be grateful to the Bush family for his entire career. That Pappy Bush skipped over ‘more qualified’ personnel to make Powell a general - and 'W' went ever farther by making him Secretary of State. Yup - he actually said that – that Powell should be grateful. Sounded pretty racist to me - very old school, "we let you work in the big house so you'd better say thank you." I actually threw something at the TV.
And that’s how far we’ve fallen as a society. Let’s all thank the Bush family for that, shall we?
Really. This should be the last time we ever have to see him. To spew this sort of shit on TV should be the kiss of death for this washed up old turd.
Did everyone catch "Morning Joe's" morning wood over Jeb Bush? I knew it was just a matter of time before that SOB's name started coming up. I honestly can't believe that another Bush could make it to the White House after "W", but nothing surprises me anymore.
Rachel Maddow should take note of this disgusting comment and call out Buchanan next week. If she does, I hope she body slams this jackass.
she needs to call out pat on this one.
Walsh: Which is what? Race, I mean Pat, you know Pat. this is beneath you.
It was not "beneath" Pat ---it is Pat.
I believe it is actually located where his heart used to be and is currently wired to every fiber of his being.
Pat, you're an ignorant ass. Please retire and I don't even mind if they're Michelins. Just go home and have a nap, you're annoying...
His wife is worse then him. They make quite the pair.
How they get "expert pundit" roles is beyond me.
> His wife is worse then him. They make quite the pair.
I believe you are referring to his sister, Bey, no?
i've been trying to figure this one out for a couple of weeks. such a hard question to answer. both have a shelf in hell reserved for them.
....an asshat AND a douche nozzle... and not many people get placed into both those categories at one time!
My God, this election is no longer about right or left, rich or poor, even black or white. This is about same or insane, about ignorance or the application of knowledge.
If the repubs get in, I will weep for your country.
God knows it wasn't racism that allowed only white men to run for over two centuries. Buchanan voted for all his candidates because they were white.
Excuse me folks, but why is this even a headline? This is PAT F*n BUCHANNAN we are talkin about! OF COURSE he would say this... actually, I would be astonished if he didn't.
If Powell backed Obama because he's black, then that explains Buchanan's suport of McCain, right? Being that Buchanan is an idiot...
Maybe it's just me, but while I find Buchanan's comment somewhat cynical, it really doesn't offend me. If a jewish guy votes for the jewish guy (and I'm jewish and know lots of folk who vote that way), or the Mexican votes for the Mexican, or the black guy votes for the black guy, what's the big surprise? Is Powell beyond all that? Maybe, but if it didn't have something to do with his vote, what's the big deal?
powell laid out his reasons in the most logical and reasonable of manners. race wasnt one of them.
Frankly, it's not that much worse than half of what comes out of his mouth. But maybe now MSNBC will sit up and take notice. I'd love to see Rachel kick her "fake uncle" out the door. (Though she's too nice to do it; I'm sure Keith would oblige.)
If white people won't vote for Obama because he's black, they are racist.
If you suggest that some people might be voting for Obama because he's black, you are racist.
It's really sad to see this country getting completely nutty about this on both sides--true racists and nutso politically-correct, thought-control types. I think people are voting for and against Obama simply because of race. Does this mean me racist? Jeez.
Hopefully an Obama presidency will go a long way to reduce anxiety and tension on both sides.
RH Potfry, please get a dictionary and look up the word racism. If an Irish American in my home town feels a special affinity for our congressman Patrick Murphy and votes for him, that is not ethnic racism. It is ethnic affinity, but not racism. He is not voting against the other candidate because that candidate fails his racial or ethnic test. He is voting in favor of someone with whom he has an affinity. So in your second statement, you are wrong if you feel African Americans voting for Obama in large numbers are being racist. By the same logic, this would apply to Catholics who voted for John F. Kennedy, etc. They are (and were) not racists for voting on the basis of ethnic or racial affinity, a positive emotion. Arguably that is not a good, civic minded basis for their vote, but that's another question. Now let's look at your first statement, which is correct as you stated it. Someone who refuses to vote for a candidate simply because they are black (or simply because they are white) IS exhibiting racist behavior.
actually, I was talking about whites voting for Obama mainly because he's black.
Chances are, you'll tell me that's not happening.
Chances are, I'll tell you you're nuts.
Wow that is one of the stupidest comments I have ever seen posted on this site. Congratulations.
Watching Colin Powell today on Meet The Press, I was struck by the clarity of the man's thought process and the consistency with all that we know about him. The thinking he displayed is thoroughly consistent with the principles he advocated during his Pentagon career, and in his service to Bush 41, and with his private advice to Bush 43 (see Woodward) and Bush 43's inner circle regarding the conduct of the war in Iraq. Had Powell's logic for endorsing Obama been inconsistent with all we know about him, perhaps Buchanan would have grounds to speculate about race as motivator; but alas, he had no grounds. We, on the other hand, do have grounds to speculate about Buchanan's motivations. Unlike Buchanan, we have a long history of evidence in the public record to support our speculation.
Ok so we're to believe that Colin Powell made his decision completely independent of race? That's living in a fantasy world. To be honest with you, I don't find anything wrong with a Powell endorsement that said, sure I'm endorsing Obama because he would make a good president (like McCain according to him) and because he is black. I'm just upset and angry that people aren't being honest about this. Powell has deluded himself just as much about this decision as when he believed Iraq was an imminent national security threat back in 2003.
Yes, people can actually do that. I know I can and I'm just another lower economic life form.
He's been watching them two for two years now and he cited very good and true reasons to choose Obama over McCain. But, no he can't actually be that smart can he? No, Powell's just black. Somebody wrote all that stuff for him.
You actually think it's a tough choice to make?
I do think it's a tough choice, so did Powell. I just decided last week.
Are we to believe that millions of Americans are making their decision to vote for McCain completely independent of race. I mean you could look at it both ways. Do they really think McCain is better on the issues, or is he old, white, christian, and "SAFE"??????
I'd be very surprised if race came into Colin Powell's thinking. It hasn't entered mine--- a white guy for Obama since day 1. Because he is the brightest and he has a positive vision of the world, and "gawd" knows we need that more than ever.
i'm upset that people like you seem to know other people better with nary a basis.
Oh, so people of color are incapable of reasoning beyond their biology? These are the same arguments that led to a Final Solution in Nazi Germany, or the forced sterilization of African Americans in the US through the 1970s with the Tuskegee Experiments, or that led to Apartheid in South Africa. So when Powell endorsed George W. Bush, and his father before him, what was that? Was that his just making a choice? Black people have voted for white candidates year in and year out for generations--how does that work, exactly? But now his choice is race based? How does that work, exactly?
By your theory, Blacks would not have gone to the polls AT ALL over the last 50 years.
You would have been on more solid ground if you'd recognized that perhaps many people of color have similar experiences in a largely white (and male) dominated society, that our worldviews have emerged under similar circumstances. THAT would've been nuanced. But to suggest that race is the ONLY or even PRIMARY reason for endorsing Mr. Obama is to suggest that somehow African Americans are incapable of escaping some kind of biological restraint on their/our behavior. That's called evolutionism, and it led to Eugenics, and it is really, really scary to hear still has traction in the 21st century.
Heavyheadtoo
Awe shucks, Pat's just saying that because he's a Krakker.
Pat Buchanan is a well known racist, yet for some reason he's allowed on the air.
Shit always floats to the surface, and Buchanan is a big stinking turd.
Predictable. Is anyone really surprised? Welcome to the USA.
This zombie from the racist camp is a person of the lowest circle of hell. No worth what so ever. A total disgrace to humanity and mankind. A pox upon him an all his legions of glowing redneck ignorance. May they rot in their hell for eternity.
General Powell should be ashamed of himself! It is so obvious that his choice is racially motivated. But... for him to slam John McCain like he did, although saying the "replublican party", who needs friends like that? I hope he knows we see right through his "written and rehearsed" 7 + minute "speech"... what a phony! I am so extremely disappointed in this American hero.. if Sarah Palin isn't qualified, why is Obama? What executive duties has he ever seen to? Because he can speak well he should be president? Oh my God... how sad General Powell! p.s. Governor Palin has an 80% approval rating... is there any politician in the U.S. that has ever had that? Duh!!!
Powell had to chose between two candidates. One was more qualified than the other. That turned out to be Obama.
The fact that Powell can give a coherent 7 minute explanation for something is pretty alien to a Palin supporter. After listening to the gibberish she spouts I can only assume that she's using some sort of code that can't be understood by anyone with an I.Q. above 50. It's a language that preaches to the people at the shallow end of the gene pool. Logic and honesty frightens people who wish to be fed a steady diet of lies.
There are so many ways that Obama is more qualified than Sarah that I could probably write an essay on the subject.
Let's see: Harvard Law instructor. Published two books. Senator. Respected around the world. That's just for a start.
As for Palin's approval rating: She doesn't have an 80% approval rating. Not even in her home state of Alaska it was last stated at around 60%... But get this... people are suspecting that it might be in the TEENS now.
http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/palins_appro...
http://www.prosebeforehos.com/image-of-the-da...
Interesting.
It's confirmed. She has a 15% nationwide approval rating. Up from 10%.
Amazing. I think McCain could run a block of wood for V.P. and get a higher approval rating that that. It must be some kind of record.
All she has left are her hate speeches. Maybe she'll run for grand dragon of the Klan when her campaign is all over.
Susan, try to complete this math problem in your head.
((5+6)*11)-21+you are an idiot = ?
Who is the hate monger now, a$$hole?
No, but nice try. The answer is McCain / Palin supporter.
palin and mccain's iq added up do not even come close to obama's alone.
what executive duties has mccain performed? he is bungling his own campaign.
as for sarah palin, even an idiot can run alaska. oh and obama has never been found to have abused his power. palin is so young yet so corrupt.
I suppose it's not even worth mentioning that Powell was a shill for the guy in the running for "whitest man in Honkydom" for years...
Jesus God, Pat... I keep waiting for him to refer to Barack Obama as "that Chicago n*****" so that we can put the whole non-debate over whether or not Pat is a racist to rest.
Anyone else have trouble downloading the video?
Actually, never mind --- Pat Buchanan is such a caricature of himself, I can picture in my mind exactly what he looks and sounds like when he says something ignorant like this.
Pat is a closed minded man, and under contract with MSNBC. When he is on Racheals show he drives me crazy. This old man, with old man ideas. He gave his Catholic views on homosexuals one day till I was ready to break my own TV set! The only thing that surprises me is that he is so far as I know the only one using the race card on Powell. When I heard the endorsement this AM on "Meet the Press" I said, " They will use the "because he is black bit", and sadly I was correct. I also note that Brokaw used they Ayers line incorrectly AGAIN, he did not say " We did not bomb enough" , he said " We did not DO enough " so now I know all I need to know about that show. Sad thing really ...
If you see some older clips of him from the early and mid 90s you can tell he has had several small strokes. He slurs his words and his face droops. Those small strokes can happen anywhere in the brain and they have obviously effected the part of the brain that Brokaw uses for reasoning and logic.
George Will has also made similar comments, on This Week with Stephanopolous, or however you spell his name, although he didn't go nearly as far as Buchanan did.
Why can't MSNBC say goodbye to the old cracker? Michael Smerconish or Andrew Sullivan would make great replacements. It seem like MSNBC is waiting for Pat to just totally wing out and drop the "n" word, because that's all thats missing. Pat is racist. Almost everybody has known this for some time now. Please, somebody... just get rid of him before he destroys himself on air completely.
and I feel sorry for him.
WAIT WAIT Wait wait...
I don't understand. Everybody says Gen. Powell is supporting Sen. Obama because "He's black", but I don't get it!!
Do they mean because Sen. Obama's black, or because Gen. Powell's black!?!
And, are we back to saying "black" again, instead of "African American" or "that one"!?!
And how are these threats of violence against blacks going to be carried out, when racists and bigots are afraid to go into black neighborhoods, anyway!?!
Contemporary American racism and bigotry has gotten so confusing, it's impossible to keep up...
Of course Pat has the luxury to say he votes republican, knowingly that it is absolutely comical of those of other skin tones in the republican party.
A republican is assured a White candidate.
Come on, Alan Keyes never did count. He was one of the very few alternative skin tones to qualify as a display token.
McCain has known the challenge of the conservative death nell this election. Makes Palin a choice that is show and no tell. In other words, it is safe that McCain's Palin won't make it.
Let us see the conservatives next presidential ticket if it is serious.
Seriously, though. The question isn't "...would Colin Powell be endorsing Obama if he were a white liberal democrat...".
The question is, would Gen. Powell be suffering these bigoted accusations if Sen. Obama was the Republican nominee...!?!
Stop burning electrons on the stupidity of Pat Buchanan. It's not good for the environment. He is lowering the bar to keep his name on your lips and in your heads. Stop falling for it.
Now.....
Has anyone considered that this endorsement is less about Obama and more about Powell?
Isn't it time for Powell to build material for another book?
Not really a surprise Pat Buchanan, Rush Limbaugh, and George Will. I expected that from them. I expect it from O'Reilly, Malkin, Hannity, Morgan, Coulter, Kristol, Hume, and the likes.
They simply can't handle an Obama victory, they will self destruct the closer the hour comes.
He's out of it and why NBC uses him must be to give balance - but I give him no credibility and he has no status vs Powell
Buchanon, Will, and Limbaugh are simply showing their true colors. Disgusting right-wingnut, racist asses.
let them fall of the cliff and be exposed for modern day mccarthys and be known for the hatemongers they really are.
I am not, and have never been, a George Will fan. He is one of the more intellectually dishonest, not to mention journalistically unethical, conservative columnists. There are booksful of negative comments that could be made about him, and with good reason.
But I can't agree with the following statement: "Pat Buchanan follows the lead of Rush Limbaugh and George Will and says that his only motivation was the color of his skin."
I listened to Will's comments three times, and he simply does NOT say that Powell endorsed Obama based on skin color. He does say that he thinks that any reaction based on skin color is more likely to help than hurt Obama, but that is not the same thing.
Jowly blowhard Buchanan and squinty-eyed Morning Joe are two non-black-eyed peas in a pod. Their "he's a real credit to his race" act stopped dead in its tracks when Obama started peeling ahead in the polls, and their pretend pride and phony tolerance morphed into sputtering panic as the real possibility of a person of color in the White House began to sink in.
Of the disappointing MSNBC daytime rat pack, Pat and Joe are the least able to subdue their hostility, while other unfriendlies such as Brokaw and Gregory at least pretend to be unbiased, albeit without much success.
This is the most ridiculous accusation because Powell is black he is only supporting Obama because he is black?!!! Well this totally explains the far right simple minded Republican rationale for their campaign tactics. They selected Sarah Palin because they thought, "women will vote for McCain because his VP Sarah Palin is a woman", "Christians will vote for McCain because Sarah Palin is Christian", "Plumbers will vote for McCain because Joe the Plumber is", "Veterans will vote for McCain because he is a veteran POW".
Based on this rationale, then I guess we can only assume Buchanan believes that Liebermann endorsed McCain because he is White!
Colin Powell is the most well respected intelligent Lion of the Republican party who made an intelligent, responsible decision to announce his endorsement for the most qualified and best candidate for President of the US based on Obama's display of sound judgment, temperament, intelligence, inspiring campaign and ability to handle a crisis. That is the truth and Republicans need to face reality because there is no way to discredit this endorsement with some race baiting excuse because you only get egg on your face with this outrageous comment. Buchanan, you should be ashamed of yourself! It only shows your ignorance about race in America. If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, it’s a duck and now we know your motivation for supporting John McCain.
Colin Powell is Black? Wow, next thing ya know you will be tellin me John "Bomber" McCain was a P-O-W...and, also...too
It's the job of the FBI and the other agencies to arrest terrorists, traitors and ballot stuffers like Obama and Powell, and tiring Obama campaign trolls flooding news blogs with fraudulent names, such as the Obama blog campaign has been doing incessantly in this election. So, no one can see how what anyone has written here was threatening anyones peace or freedom of speech. It's timelessly welcome, actually. Welcome to America, Obamatrolls. I can only hope they pay you well in wherever homeland you're truly posting from.
I think you got lost "America Joe" and need to find your way back to the lower IQ websites.
btw, my forefathers came to America in the 1600's and also fought in the Revolutionary war against the British, this is my homeland.
So please take your BS back to the hole you crawled out of.
WS, you sound so like an Obama campaign troll. Yet another. Get back to your lower IQ caves and let America have our say. America Joe wasn't saying anything America isn't already thinking, saying and doing. You Obamatrolls are flooding a few select news blogs and social sites, but we've noticed it's much harder for you to do that on the social sites where you'd have to invent entire profiles with pictures of yourself and all. And since your identity is fraudulently manufactured, you have no profiles and no pictures and no history. You're a joke and a liar, waving a lie history, no different than Obama as it's turned out, not surprisingly. Stay in your cave and don't come to America. You Obamatrolls really are running out of breath and steam.
pat buchanan, like all the right wing zealotry, is a vile piece of shit.
.
Pat Buchanan's letting his racism show again...
... Next he'll claim Obama's playing the race card.
.
Even though race isn't an issue with me, it is still obvious that Obama IS playing the race card.
The professional propagandist of the right are now coming to grips with reality.HEY GUYS guess what;
Obama becomes president of the US only if white folks vote for him.It may be hard for you to accept but apparently
they have not been brainwashed by fox news, Rush Pat, George or etc.
General Powell said we need a GENERATIONAL CHANGE..NOT A RACIAL CHANGE.
Yes the color line is still winding it's way through america's body politic. But if you don't believe it's fading...then you may still be stuck in the 60's. Rush, Pat,george and etc just dont understand...they just don't get it.
Somewhere along the line alot of people stopped hating and believing all that separatist non sense. Hey guys catch on and catch up...join us over here in the 21st century..it's not all bad. and by the way some of us really don't like it when people try to make us dislike one another based on either race or class.
We just want to be paid a fair wage, so we can pay for our houses and shop in peace at Walmart like true americans.
What BS!!! Look this is racism, Limbaugh, Buchanan? Look if Obama was a liberal white that was as effective at mobilizing and inspiring people as Obama is then yes Powell would endorse him. If this ficticious white liberal candidate was seen across the globe as a transformational figure than yes, Powell would endorse him. If the GOP candidate was being dvisive and surrounding themselves with the same people that got us into this economic, social, political and military crisis then yes Powell would endorse! Powell is disgusted by the neocons and their racist, jingoist, extremist agenda. Here is the Muslim American Hero Powell alluded to in his interview.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page...
This reason enough to reject the GOP ticket this year, but he also mentioned Palin being woefully unprepared for POTUS. That is what thinking, concerned Americans are grapling with as well. Powell should be taken at his word and his explanantion and thought process was clear.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Buchanan all racists and bigots just like their friend Hal Turner:
www.thenation.com/doc/20050620/blumenthal
I know both of these individuals very well now. I've known John for 25 years as your setup said. And I've gotten to know Mr. Obama quite well over the past two years. Both of them are distinguished Americans who are patriotic, who are dedicated to the welfare of our country. Either one of them, I think, would be a good president. I have said to Mr. McCain that I admire all he has done. I have some concerns about the direction that the party has taken in recent years. It has moved more to the right than I would like to see it, but that's a choice the party makes. And I've said to Mr. Obama, "You have to pass a test of do you have enough experience, and do you bring the judgment to the table that would give us confidence that you would be a good president."
And I've watched him over the past two years, frankly, and I've had this conversation with him. I have especially watched over the last six of seven weeks as both of them have really taken a final exam with respect to this economic crisis that we are in and coming out of the conventions. And I must say that I've gotten a good measure of both. In the case of Mr. McCain, I found that he was a little unsure as to deal with the economic problems that we were having and almost every day there was a different approach to the problem. And that concerned me, sensing that he didn't have a complete grasp of the economic problems that we had. And I was also concerned at the selection of Governor Palin. She's a very distinguished woman, and she's to be admired; but at the same time, now that we have had a chance to watch her for some seven weeks, I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president. And so that raised some question in my mind as to the judgment that Senator McCain made.
On the Obama side, I watched Mr. Obama and I watched him during this seven-week period. And he displayed a steadiness, an intellectual curiosity, a depth of knowledge and an approach to looking at problems like this and picking a vice president that, I think, is ready to be president on day one. And also, in not just jumping in and changing every day, but showing intellectual vigor. I think that he has a, a definitive way of doing business that would serve us well. I also believe that on the Republican side over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican Party and Mr. McCain has become narrower and narrower. Mr. Obama, at the same time, has given us a more inclusive, broader reach into the needs and aspirations of our people. He's crossing lines--ethnic lines, racial lines, generational lines. He's thinking about all villages have values, all towns have values, not just small towns have values.
And I've also been disappointed, frankly, by some of the approaches that Senator McCain has taken recently, or his campaign ads, on issues that are not really central to the problems that the American people are worried about. This Bill Ayers situation that's been going on for weeks became something of a central point of the campaign. But Mr. McCain says that he's a washed-out terrorist. Well, then, why do we keep talking about him? And why do we have these robocalls going on around the country trying to suggest that, because of this very, very limited relationship that Senator Obama has had with Mr. Ayers, somehow, Mr. Obama is tainted. What they're trying to connect him to is some kind of terrorist feelings. And I think that's inappropriate.
Now, I understand what politics is all about. I know how you can go after one another, and that's good. But I think this goes too far. And I think it has made the McCain campaign look a little narrow. It's not what the American people are looking for. And I look at these kinds of approaches to the campaign and they trouble me. And the party has moved even further to the right, and Governor Palin has indicated a further rightward shift. I would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, but that's what we'd be looking at in a McCain administration. I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say. And it is permitted to be said such things as, "Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim." Well, the correct answer is, he is not a Muslim, he's a Christian. He's always been a Christian. But the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America. Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president? Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, "He's a Muslim and he might be associated terrorists." This is not the way we should be doing it in America.
I feel strongly about this particular point because of a picture I saw in a magazine. It was a photo essay about troops who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. And one picture at the tail end of this photo essay was of a mother in Arlington Cemetery, and she had her head on the headstone of her son's grave. And as the picture focused in, you could see the writing on the headstone. And it gave his awards--Purple Heart, Bronze Star--showed that he died in Iraq, gave his date of birth, date of death. He was 20 years old. And then, at the very top of the headstone, it didn't have a Christian cross, it didn't have the Star of David, it had crescent and a star of the Islamic faith. And his name was Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, and he was an American. He was born in New Jersey. He was 14 years old at the time of 9/11, and he waited until he can go serve his country, and he gave his life. Now, we have got to stop polarizing ourself in this way. And John McCain is as nondiscriminatory as anyone I know. But I'm troubled about the fact that, within the party, we have these kinds of expressions.
So, when I look at all of this and I think back to my Army career, we've got two individuals, either one of them could be a good president. But which is the president that we need now? Which is the individual that serves the needs of the nation for the next period of time? And I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities--and we have to take that into account--as well as his substance--he has both style and substance--he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president. I think he is a transformational figure. He is a new generation coming into the world--onto the world stage, onto the American stage, and for that reason I'll be voting for Senator Barack
11 months ago, I stated that Obama was 4 yrs away from going for President only because of being Black and not being exposed enough to Americans.
I thought Hilary would be better suited because of the Republican character assassinations later.
I guess it was because I'm Canadian and I'm not suppose to know American history or politics that many told me I was WRONG.
Sad to see it going this way guys....there was still this weeeeeeee part of me back then that had some hope.
When you have men of the cloth speaking against a man because he's Black and callers talking about hangin' Ni^%^'s....man, these people are farther away from the human race than I thought.
..anti-semitism?
This proves, the black person in America needs some similar protection against such hateful people.
Will, Limbaugh and Buchannan should all be in the unemployment line today...or, you could get Mel Gibson to say something about them...but hey,,,that was against the Jews in Hollywood and they are a protected species.
Duh! Of course American blacks are going to vote for Obama because he is black. Did anyone hear Stearns show where they asked Obama supporters why they supported Obama? The Obamamanians were asked if they supported Obama because of ( list GOP platform here, but say it is Obamas ) and every last one said YES they supported Obama because of ( everything that McCain is running on, even Palin as his VP pick ). And YES they did say Palin was a great choice for Obama to pick as VP!
Why is it that it is fine for blacks to be racist and vote for the black guy just because he is black, but it is not ok for whites to act in a similar fashion?
Have you thought of why whites have been voting for whites all these years? That was ok? That was not racism? It is worth giving this issue a little though before spewing off, I think.
I guess it is the internet equivalent of "my cousin's friend's uncle's daughter's boyfriend says that he saw..."
many "Libruls" were for Powell, which is why he was urged to run for the presidency 8 years ago. But then that was before he became president Cheney's (oops I mean Bush's) tool and went to the UN to lie about Iraq. Personally I give him credit for staying in there to try to moderate Cheney/Rumsfelts neocon ways.
I don't care what he may call himself, I call pat buchanan "racist".
is losing it, doing their best to make McCain look better. A large front page headline today was not "Powell Endorses Obama" but "McCain Ignores Loss of Powell." Accompanying this was a quarter page photo of McCain laughing.
Fareed Zacharia endorses Obama - says McCain, the Best of the Past, Barack, the Hope of the Future!

Come on 95-95% of blacks are voting for Obama, you think that is a genetic trait or something? It is based on race. Why is it ok for blacks to vote based on race but not whites. Oh yeh, I know this one, because Obama needs whites to vote for him in order to win.
I suppose that blacks are voting for blacks in the same way as whites have voted, and still do, for whites. The latter seems OK though. The standard for blacks seems a little higher - which they will surpass, I am convinced.
Jeez, during all this previous presidential races, blacks only had white people to vote for. I did not see any of you racist idiots blowing a fuse.
Now, lets see: An African American going to the booth this election cycle, what candidate is closer to their experience and may be more likely to represent their interest... Obama or McCain. Now, that is a though one right. And sure, any black person not voting for McCain must be a racist then. Right?
It is always a pleasure to see all these closet racist see their world crumble and be exposed for what they are: human detritus...
