The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.
She's always complaining that the media attacks her family, but now it's OK for her to use her baby as a sickening talking point. What a cheap and disgusting way to use her family. She has wonderful health care and for her to utter these words is more Beckerwocky talk. We all know that whatever happens with the health care debate you can be certain that the rich will have their concierge doctors to treat them no matter what. And I'm fine with that, the rich will never have to worry so please give the rest of us some health care.
How would Malkin act if a young mother brought the remains of her dead child to Alaska and confronted Palin because she didn't have enough health insurance to cover the medical bills for her sick child? Malkin would expose her private info and the conservative movement would punish her relentlessly.

My waters broke and he was born 21 minutes later. I could barely make it from my living room door to the sofabed he was born on and they are less than 3 feet from each other. From what the midwives told me, it is common for women that have had more than 1 child to have fast labors. There is NO WAY she would have been able to endure such an epic trip after her waters broke.

Recently, I decided to give Facebook a look-see after trying to ignore it for several years. I didn't sign up, just looked at the first page of some people I know. Of course, I discovered lots of other people that I hadn't seen in decades, too, including people from my suburban Dallas high school, so I ended up spending nearly an hour on it.
Maybe unsurprisingly, a lot of people who were in the cheerleader/jock "popular" clique in high school are now big fans of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, and lots of them are also subscribers to anti-Obama and Tea Party Facebook groups, which surprised me. I mean, I know these are white, suburban Texans, but they are relatively well-off and they've had as many years as I have to learn right from wrong and intelligent from stupid. Sigh. I did get some insight into why high school was such a miserable experience, though.
What this issue boils down to is the wealthy, the medically covered and the healthy trying to bogart the coverage. Funny thing is that's the exact profile the insurance industry wants.
They would consider this a zero-sum game.

In my (limited) experience, private insurance companies make the lives of families who care for Down's Syndrome children hell (as if there aren't challenges to deal with in the first place).
Isn't the general idea of the proposed health care plans to cover as many people as possible and to do away with denials of care for preexisting conditions? Isn't the current system the one that denies people care if they're found to not be worthy due to lack of funds or whatever rationale is concocted in order to protect profits? What world does Palin live in?

Since Todd is at least 1/4 Yupik Eskimo he is eligible, and has likely made use of, free government paid for medical/dental and free pharmacy (all prescriptions are free friends), run by the federal governments Indian Health Service. The government has clinics all over the country and a huge Alaska Native Medical Center right in Anchorage.

Palin needs to be asked why the feds decided a few weeks ago not to allow AK to enroll anybody else in the medicare program in Alaska? Under Palin's watch over 200 senior citizens died due to a poorly-run medicare system in Alaska. This "Christian" woman has the blood of elderly Alaskan citizens on her hands. She is not one who should be talking about "death panels" since she was head of one in her own state. It pisses me off that she has thrown her yongest child and her parents under the bus for a chance to spread lies about healthcare reform and satisfy her base.
