From TampaBays10:

The head of the Hillsborough GOP, David Storck, distributed an email from a Republican Party volunteer saying the voters are a threat.

That's because, as the volunteer says in the email, he sees "car loads of black Obama supporters coming from the inner city to cast their votes for Obama."

It goes on to say, "This is their chance to get a black president and they seem to care little the he is at minimum a socialist and probably Marxist in his core beliefs." The Republican volunteer says that is because, "After all he is black- no experience or accomplishments but he is black." Read on...

If the McCain/Palin campaign has done anything, it has exposed the worst in our society. Couple that with the hate talk that infests the once-public airwaves from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and the xenophobic, racist rants of the right wing blogs and this is what you get.

My lord, the peasants are at the gate! They look pissed!

First!
Quick roll-up the windows on the polls and lock the doors!
I swear they all love a democracy until everyone wants to vote, then they freak out and come up with ways to deny them or denigrate them. Its the same as women s suffrage, oh women don't understand the issues, how could they possibly make any sort of real, thought out, opinionated choice?

it must be election time!

... they all love a democracy until everyone wants to vote ..."

Yup. They don't view democracy as a way to pick leaders and policies; they view it as an impeccable credential for putting them in charge: "Hey, STFU: We won the election." When they lose elections, or even when it looks like they're going to lose them, suddenly the public isn't so smart.

Bozos across the land are going barking mad. Full bore loons.

Blacks just always get the breaks. Think of all the people who've just waltzed into the presidency because they're black.

Sickening shit, that.

I dunno about you, but I've always been afraid of carloads of white rednecks. Does that make me a racist or bigot, even if I am white? It's because they are dumb and think they are smart, and think they have some kind of "god-given" right, because they are white.

A carload of Rednecks scares me 100 times more than a carload of anyone.

I always thought renecks traveled in truckloads -
SCARY

i was gonna use the same joke. Ya beat me to it! :D

more afraid of fucktard rednecks driving their trucks with guns than I am of ANYone else! These effers cannot be reasoned with... hell, most of them have no education whatsoever and have seldom been away from the trailer park where they were born. There's my prejudice showing... and me a caucasian.

It's always been a human reflex, I think, to view a group of strangers as a possible threat to ones safety. I think security when I see a bunch of white men together, I ascertain if they are drunk, if they have weapons, if they are being belligerent etc. If not my threatdown is over and I keep to my path. If they are drunk or rowdy or belligerent, I don't make to much eye contact, stay out of their way or move across the street etc, I don't think it's unwise to be aware of your surroundings and always have your safety in mind. This is not that though, this is outright fear tactics and belittlement. Who cares why peaople vote? I mean some people vote for McCain cause he's ex navy, others maybe because he's mav'ricky . Who cares you get a vote use it, and don't worry about the other guys internal deliberations.

I'm the opposite. I often jump right into the fray. It's amazing I haven't had my head kicked in by these bastards, but so far, I haven't. When I'm angry and cornered, I am fearless.

I once defended a gay guy on the street in Toronto. A crowd had gathered around waiting for a good gay lynching. I drove them all off. Call me crazy, but I'm glad I did. And I'm meek. (The mouse that roars??)

Good job Edwin.

I think it's really sad that some redneck policemen will likely be pulling over cars just to keep people from voting. Maybe there will be those roadblock sotries again. Very sad.

... every one knows that rednecks come by the truckload, not the carload!

:-)

Sorry, my bad. And they come with six-packs, guns, and shit-eating grins.

these kinds of people from the fringe reich gop
are clearly racists and "domestice enemy combatants".

i guess the president like with 911, instead of doing
anything to quell this race-baiting by the gop is
probably sitting back and shitting his pants as usual.

... this is basically what Hillary was warning about. Her mistake is that she thought this stuff would work.

Great observation.

What was Harvard Law? (ps: editor of the law review)

Professor of Constitutional Law, state senator, US Senator?

Their supposed "antidote" to the "inexperienced" Obama was supposed to be Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin, who thinks fruit fly research done in France does not benefit the "common good." Sarah Palin, who has no idea what the Vice President's job description is. Sarah Palin, who thinks that the First Amendment means the press is free to not criticize Queen Moose Hunter.

For some people, a "brother" just can't work hard enough to gain their respect.

Arrrrgh. I really cannot wait for 5 November, although I know this nonsense will not magically all stop then. Expect it to get worse.

Bozos across the land are going barking mad. Full bore loons.

We're playing GOP Limbo now. How low can they go...how low can they go...

How low can they go? BASE!

Mcslime/palin - That's as low as anyone can go.

But in case you missed it, man oh man, I hates me some republicans.

After this election, there are several people with whom I won't be speaking anymore. Maybe ever.

There are several in my neighborhood that I think are capable of violence. The next couple of months are going to be crazy/bad.

Which is why I voted for him, in the primary and in the general election. It's gonna flush all the racist turds out into the open, and it's gonna thin the herd, so to speak, when these racist bigots aren't able to get elected anywhere and their supporters are reduced to thinking that the whole damn world's lost it's mind.
In other words, this election will sentence Reich-wingers to the sort of Hell that sane folks have endured for the past eight years.

It's their turn to be ridiculed, humiliated and marginalized.

I'm sure that FOX News is giving these sordid tactics all the appropriate coverage they deserve.

Or is Hannity still spewing socialism and William Ayers.

On behalf of my state,I sincerly aplologise. jebus! Must We be a laughing stock every f***ing day? Arrrggg

:-)

Count me in on that apology. Since I lived in Tampa longer than I lived in place as I was growing up, I sort of call it my home town. My husband was born and raised there. I wish this sort of shit didn't happen there but more than that, I wish it didn't happen anywhere.

This may have the opposite effect than what they intend. The white people may stay home and not vote, due to the fear the e-mail brought on.

UncleDave, I'm on the Treasure Coast. Where are you?

The Las Vegas Sun just called to say they're gonna run this letter I sent them this morning. It'll be in the paper tomorrow.

As I view and listen to this endless, snarling, vitriolic smear campaign against Barack Obama, I find it important to keep in mind and to tell others that these smears also implicitly -- no, overtly -- extend to all of the undeniably honorable and accomplished public figures and professional people who have endorsed and actively support him. It is nothing more than an increasingly clear sign of the intellectual and moral bankruptcy of the McCain camp.

Mr. McCain, you have approved this endless stream of vapid and dishonorable ad hominem attacks. I hope you soon have ample time to contemplate the shame you have wrought on your own reputation and the damage you have done to the national discourse.

Robert E. Gladd

I don't think Colin Powell is going to be taking a lot of McCain's phone calls from now on. Of course, McCain doesn't care. He's thinking "He'll HAVE to talk to me when I'm president!"

Good message and good for you!

Cheers to you.

Here is a white guy that used to be a republican, you can vote for.
http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/465.html

When white racists endure centuries of slavery, jim crow, disenfranchisement, violence, intimidation, discrimination blatant and systemic, and hurtful stereotyping.... THEN maybe they can have a discussion on why african-americans vote the way they do. I might just go to a black church this weekend to celebrate with them. I hope every last one votes. Let's bury these morons!

It's the same thing when a McCain supporter tries to have a debate on the issues like taxes, spending, judges or something that has to do with actual governing. When the GOP no longer encourages the support of racists, homophobes and religious extremists THEN we can have an honest debate on the issues. People over policy.

It goes on to say, "This is their chance to get a black president and they seem to care little the he is at minimum a socialist and probably Marxist in his core beliefs." The Republican volunteer says that is because, "After all he is black- no experience or accomplishments but he is black."

To summarize... black, socialist, Marxist, black, blackity black.

There are some real morons in Florida. It'll be sweet to see Obama take all the electoral votes there. I've got my fingers crossed.

I hope to hell that Florida is the state that brings Obama over the finish line and into the oval office

Those are holding contrary thoughts at the same time. They've been arguing Obama's a Muslim, or has a scary Christian preacher, both of which are religious in nature, whereas Marxism is inherently atheistic.

Yeah, well these people aren't exactly "thinking," now, are they?

imbecilic, moronic, anti-intellectual, inarticulate, confused, befuddled, crazed, inarticulate, slobbering, hate-filled fuckheads is a waste of time.

What if they're only on their way to the drive-in to see the latest Tyler Perry movie?

..McCain's ancestors were slave-owning southerners.

Well lets just hope it's McCain who gets "owned" on the 4th, booyah.

not that it matters, but weren't Obama's as well?

Here's Storck's official public email:

chairman@hcrp.org

Please contact him and ask him why there was not one word in the email telling supporters why they should vote for McCain.

This is one reason NOT TO VOTE FOR MCSCUM.

Thanks for the address.

"Can't we all just get along?!" It is very hard to understand how this much stupidity and racism can exist in the 21st Century. Particlularly, as it comes largely from a group of folks who purport to be Christians!!

Here in PA, the hate mail and robocalls just keep coming. Today's version has a real close-up of Ahmadinejad on one side, with the headline, "Barack Obama thinks he can Appease this Guy?! On the other side, there's a headshot of Barack, speaking into a mic while scratching the top of his head. The headlines say, "AS AMERICA FACES DANGEROUS THREATS....America's Foreign Policy Must Not Be Appeasement.
Barack Obama. Not Who You Think He Is.!"

Disgusting!

no shit? they actually used a picture that shows Obama in a monkey like pose with him scratching his head?? Subliminal man, those guys are scary.

It's definitely meant to imply that Barack is just a stupid black guy, or to remind folks about the "Curious George" cartoon character. If I was more tech savvy I guess I could scan it and send it to C&L - but alas I'm not.

Every day for the past 2 months I've recieved this crap in the mail - and I get robo and live calls from the McCain Campaign at least 4 or 5 times every day - because I'm a registered Independent female in PA.

I shall have My vengeance, because tomorrow and Sunday I've volunteered to go to the local Obama campaign office and make telephone calls to other Independents.

Unfortunately McScumball IS who/what you think he is.
:(

Now we know who John McCain really is.

I hope he is shunned for this racist crap he is doing nothing to stop. And he could stop it with just one call.

I'm not sure McCain could stop all the crazy people but he could make it very clear that he condemns that sort of thing and will not tolerate it.

"How dare these dark people exercise their right to vote in our election! The nerve!"

Ahahahahahhahaaa... can't wait for next Wednesday morning... the river of tears flowing from all these Republican recessives will be massive.

Hmmm! You're assuming that these people won't experience an explosion of part of their anatomy normally called "head".

Has he NOTHING to say about all this? Does he really not know anything of what is being done in his name? Does he not care?

Pathetic...sad and pathetic. The man calls himself a hero and wraps himself in the flag. Ugh.

There was a time that I thought he was better. There was a time that he seemed to have some level of self respect.

Now...he has nothing. He is nothing.

He's acting like a, like a, oh my Gawd, like a Manchurian candidate.

THE Mccain/palin 'chicken little McCarthyism' No guts, no honor, desparate and inciting riot in the lowest common denominator which they are both part of now...

There many who are studying whether this is 'actionable'!!! the research looks good...Inpeach Bush and prosecute McBush -Palin....

may have exposed the worst of society, but I would like to concentrate on the positives of Obama's campaign as well.

Look at all of the people that have and will turn out to vote for Obama that don't believe the way these sadly fearful people believe. It heartens me to know that so many people have come to look beyond the color of Obama's skin.

Rock on, Obama!

I'm a 66 yr old white man who already voted for Obama. I hope he will be my president. I haven't had a pres. since this century started.

Scaring people cuts both ways.

This message can scare whites to stay home, and scare blacks to stay home.

Bottom line...it reduces voting, which is the REAL goal.

For a second there I thought you said it reduces vomiting...

Don't let the animals that would divide us, scare us out of doing what is right and our responsibility.

VOTE!

Because they're superior to us human beings.

All too true.

The animals look at us and think, WTF?

Subhumans, morons, trolls, cretins, idiots, assholes, criminals, killers, pond scum, filth and vermin. Etc. etc.

That's what they are.

BOYCOTT BUDWEISER!

Spread the word.

BOYCOTT BUDWEISER!

And SLIM JIMS!

On Halloween, what an appropriate time to remind people that there are scary things around every corner, and always will be, but if you want the goods, you have to go through that scary, dark night no matter how scary, and if you go ahead and do that scary thing anyway, you will be a stronger person for it.

BOYCOTT COKE

And Pop-Rocks

because he doesn't want to upset "the base".

Which shows you where his priorities are.

Maverick indeed.

you can lay this bullshit at the door of Bush too.

As President...he is President of ALL the people. But he divided the country. He laid the groundwork for this horrific situation. He didn't govern for all, which was his job as President.

A pox on him as well.

a Worst Person candidate. But Gawd, so many Goopers, so little air time.

GOP pandering to racists?!! SHOCKING!!! Not surprising, considering Pinellas Park is a safe haven for the Klan in.

And we're all just goin' Insane

Add another dangerous hate-filled race-baiter to the list of sickos this country needs to bring down! David Storck's name will now be mud in the state of Florida.

David Storck's name will now be mud in the USA.

These sickening wussies make the case against the Republican Party and John McCain by their fear tactics.

I'm beginning to believe that the RNC/GOP is full of impotent limpdicks.

Add this sicko to the list of people who don't deserve to call themselves americans. This man is pure filth and a disgrace to the state of Florida.

Racism is one thing but, RUSH SAYS WERE ALL BEING HYNOTIZED.

BY HIM.

What the fuck do you have to do in the good, ol' US of A to get fired, charged with a criminal offence, charged with treason, deemed incompetent and forced out or, just generally, shamed into resigning? The FAA on 9/11, the prick who outed the FBI agent, the fascists who intimidated the vote recounters in Florida in 2000, this slobbering sack of shit with his "my dog ate my homework" routine .. . and the list goes on. Incompetence without penalty now, I gather, equates to criminal or even stupid behaviour.

What the fuck do you have to do in the good, ol' US of A to get fired, charged with a criminal offence, charged with treason, deemed incompetent and forced out or, just generally, shamed into resigning?

Oh..c'mon...too easy...be dark skinned and have a Muslim sounding name.

Didn't see that coming! Thanks.

"If the McCain/Palin campaign has done anything, it has exposed the worst in our society. Couple that with the hate talk that infests the once-public airwaves from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and the xenophobic, racist rants of the right wing blogs and this is what you get."

Actually, it's Obama's fault for being a black man who doesn't know his place. We knew it would come to this--give the coloreds a chance to vote and there go OUR rights to be shitheads! No wait, let's get out there and PROVE what shitheads we can be!

Snark off.

Although white people like me live relatively removed from the threat of racist thuggery, it's time we became aware of what many blacks in this country know from experience, which is the ugly underbelly of everyday civil discourse. It seems inevitable that as we grow up as a society, all the vile prejudice that's been swept under the rug will have to be dealt with. In his way, Obama is the man who has energized both bases, and it is time we shored up our defenses to protect him and ourselves. The threat posed by these people has many times before taken out our agents of change, and we have to be vigilant this time. It may take many more generations before we eradicate racism (though it's unlikely we'll ever succeed fully), but if we look at how far we've come, it's inspiring to envision where we can go in the future.

You can't fix stupid, and there is a whole bunch of stupid in the GOP!

What bothers the Neocons about Rev. Wright and what he said is that it's the truth. They don't want to acknowledge what blacks gone through in this country, and still have to. They want bygones to be bygones. They're scared if Obama gets in that the blacks'll subject whites to the same crap.

Over at the Mother Jones blog they have a post about the Ten Most Awesome Mudslinging moves in presidential history.

http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/...

My favorites:

4. 1800 Federalists claim Republican candidate Thomas Jefferson is dead.

1. And the 1828 race, again, takes it: Adams supporters attack Jackson's family, calling his dead mother "a common prostitute, brought to this country by the British soldiers," after whose service she "married a MULATTO MAN, with whom she had several children of which number General JACKSON IS ONE!!!" Jackson's wife, who was previously married and (accidentally) not completely divorced prior to her second marriage, they call a "convicted adulteress." When she dies within days of Jackson's victory, he blames Adams' vicious campaign practices, exclaiming at her funeral, "May God Almighty forgive her murderers as I know she forgave them. I never can."

...those blacks are soooo scary.

Seriously, fuckhead, go back to your gated community, lock the door, and huddle with your AR15 for the rest of your life. You never know when those carloads of blacks might end up, horrors!, in your neighborhood.

THE ONION!!!

It's getting harder and harder to tell the difference.

Proving that the right wing has been slinging mud throughout our history...oh...and sleeping with their slaves.

To think I actually thought of going to Florida for a vacation. If this is the way people think there I'll take my money and spend it.....somewhere else.

There's no shortage of redneck assholes here but intolerance and hatred toward blacks is minimal. They save that for the First Nations peoples.

Sweet Jesus I hate Republians!!! Fuck those bigots, and anyone who claims to be a Republican but "not a bigot" well Fuck You Too you should be ashamed of yourself for support such a vial group of people!

Anyone who is a Republican please do America a favor and just find a new place to live. REAL AMERICANS DON'T WANT YOU HERE ANYMORE!

I wonder what color the sky will be on Wednesday morning? Maybe the air we smell fresher?

All those racist GOP heads exploding; will probably sound like the popping of plastic bubble wrap.

Man, its gonna be great. Can't wait.

... I sat across from a charming young black fellow. We chatted about the U.S., about Africa, about the sunny weather in California and the cold weather back in New Jersey, where he's from. We spoke about the divisions in the country, about the possibility that Obama can bridge some of those divides. We agreed that Barack isn't perfect, but he's sure better than the alternative. We agreed that there are good and bad people in every race, creed and ethnic group. He was a nice guy, and it was pleasant interacting with him in such a milieu.

Why are these GOP racists so afraid of people of color? They should get to know some. They're just human beings. I simply don't get it.

Anyway ...

What a surprise. I'm shocked anything like this would go on in Hillsborough County Florida. How soon we forget.

http://www.sptimes.com/2008/02/19/Hillsboroug...

http://www.truveo.com/A-fourth-police-abuse-v...

"White, white, white! Is the color of our party!"

And you can tell by looking at who shows up at the McCain/Palin events.

It was a 'get out the vote message' alright. For racist hayseeds.

The McCain supporters there in FL are too busy banging their sisters to get out and vote early.

I'd love to see if Michael Steele, my former Lt. Governor who the GOP loves to trot out on "special" occasions, has to say about this.

To many members of this forum -- I would be one of those "Rednecks" you claim to be so scared of: I drive a truck, live in a double-wide trailer out in the middle of the country, usually have my bow in the back of the truck, drink a beer with my pizza, have a dog, hang out with the guys once in a while. Oh yeah I guess I have another strike against me, I am retired military...so I guess I should be voting for McCain.

If you thought that you would be dead wrong, you have placed a stereotype on me unfairly due to appearances.

I am fairly liberal individual, that is right an individual, who finds the vitriol from both sides--liberal or conservative tiring at best, divisive to our country at its worst.

What I don't understand after reading the comments on this blog is that many of the respondents are as being as bad as the Republicans they are complaining about. They are discussing how bad the Republicans are and if I am reading between the lines correctly - how they are the root of all evil. To me there are lots of individuals in that party who are jerks and idiots, but for the most part many of the other individuals don't agree with what they are doing, but strongly disagree with the direction that Senator Obama would take us if elected.

That is okay, it is okay to not agree with each other, that is what makes our country different than many, we can disagree, but we have to live with the majorities decision. If we don't agree with the majority, then we work until we are in the majority which is what is happening this year.

Barak Obaman is a significant individual in our countries' history, no matter if elected or not, he has caused a paradigm shift in perceptions in this country about how this country views a person of color and how the middle class majority can change the power structure of the country by doing a very simple, but powerful thing -- VOTE. As was shown by his defeating Clinton in the primaries. Who really thought that she wouldn't be running for president last year at this time

There are truly honorable people in the republican party that don't agree with the crap going on, but truly believe that in what the party platforms are and are voting for McCain for that reason. I believe that most of them are far beyond the "hate" messages that the Campaign managers (I call them cornered rats), are using. Since those methods have worked in the last two elections to get their candidate elected, which I believe is wrong and strongly hope the American public won't be suckered into this time.

I strongly disagree with the racism or hate messages that the Republican party is attempting to do during the closing months of this election...the scare tactics to get the "white" majority in this country to vote for someone who is only 1/2 like them, not totally like them. I work hard to break down stereotypes of all types, but if I was to be walking in Roxbury in Boston at night, I would feel as uncomfortable as a person of color would walking down my dirt road at night, though in fact they might be safer. :) Not very politically correct of me - was it...but was it honest and truthful -- to me -- yes.

Senator Obama is trying to run on the issues, and for that reason I chose to vote for him, I agree with his "message" and the direction he will attempt to move this country if/when he is elected. But I am afraid that the wounds that the Country has received during this campaign will take a while, if ever to heal.

The fringe of both liberal and conservative camps need their crap to be called out and be held responsible for what they are actually doing -- tearing apart America, instead of working towards making the country a great place for all of us to live, instead of a "lucky" few. I believe strongly in free speech, but to allow this hate talk from both ends of the spectrum, without sanction or consequences to those doing it, simply to improve ratings to make advertising revenue (the more controversial, the more money comes in it seems) is a poor indicator of the direction our country appears to be heading.

So I hope that Senator Obama, becomes the next President of the United States and that he is able to LEAD us through this difficult period in our history...I personally believe that he is better suited and has the potential to do so, much better than Senator McCain.

He at least knows the Constitution and what it actually says, having taught Constitutional Law for more than 10 years versus others who may have read it at one time.

By the way, I am more than willing to sit down have a beer and discuss what I have written about with anyone that is willing to discuss this intelligently, based upon the issues, not the rhetoric. So you don't need to be scared of me because I have a bit of red on my neck.

Excellent post, thank you.

The Repubs are going to have a tough road ahead if they continue to appeal to just the religious right and racists. Interesting that those religious people can coexist with the racists.

Suddenly, everything's different! These anachronistic bigot pinheads get to turn on their teevees and see their President, Barack Obama, every day for the next 4 years and probably 8.

Whenever they see a black guy doing menial labor, they also get to think about how Obama is President. Every time they see a black guy driving a nicer car than their own, they'll have to think about Obama instead of fantasizing some rotten reason for the other guy's success. Every little thing that rouses their prejudices will make them think of President Obama and how in the overall hierarchy they'll --never-- be his equal.

What a hoot! Suck it up, guys! Be Marines! Get over it or get an ulcer and die.

Agreed, there is a lot of name-calling on each side, and one reason why Obama has appealed to many people is that he's managed to rise above the negativity and name-calling.

BUT, that said, there are two distinctions I'd like to make:

1) I don't think it's fair to compare what's being said by GOP party officials with what's being said by comments on a liberal blog. Certainly, you may read a comment on this site where someone calls McCain a racist, but I certainly haven't heard anything like that from the talking heads on TV or anybody representing the Democratic Party.

Whereas Obama has been tagged with terms like "Marxist," "Communist" and "Socialist" by everyone from McCain's spokespeople to GOP officials to Hannity, Limbaugh and Dobbs. This is deception and smear on a mass-market scale, not some random people commenting on a blog.

2) Yes, I agree it's not nice to stereotype and call people names like "redneck." But again, I don't agree it's equivalent to the out-and-out hate you're hearing and seeing from, I won't say McCain supporters, but anti-Obama people. That if Obama becomes president, the country will go black or Muslim. That everybody knows a black can't be a first-string president. That he's the anti-Christ. Hanging effigies of him from trees. Shooting bears and draping them with Obama signs.

I don't believe you've heard Obama supporters saying or doing similar things, and it's unfair to draw some equivalency between calling McCain and old-timer or Palin a dumbass and the coordinated efforts by GOP PARTY LEADERS to spread racial fear about how the blacks are taking over or suggesting that Obama is a terrorist and a Muslim and a Marxist.

I'm on practically every Democratic mailing list out there, and I still haven't gotten the email about how McCain wants to turn America into a Fascist state, much like Hitler's Germany.

I agree with much of what you have said, Senator Obama has controlled and/or simply has campaign staff that is not stooping to the negative campaigning and personal attacks as the McCain staff. If they did, I do believe that some Obama supporters could go down the same road that some Republicans are today, which is being publicized extensively. On a personal note - much to my dismay and horror, I have seen this hate attitude in members of my own family and friends.

Unfortunately, the Conservative online and tele-community has decided to fuel this ideology of hate and divisiveness in their attempts to maintain their power.

What these neo-conservatives are doing has many similarities to what happened in Europe during the late '20s and early '30s, which concerns me greatly. People who are dissatisfied with loosing jobs, a slowing economy, loosing their homes, their standard of living are scared. These people tend to look to those who claim they are able to bring back their idealist view of how things should be and may end up doing things that are not in keeping with a Democratic Republic or what the majority believe is the American way - peaceful change. They may look to violence, negative propaganda and other similiar methods that have worked in the past to achieve their goals and allow the vocal minority to control the quiet majority. We won't know it until after it happens as many in Europe found out to their dismay in the late '30s and '40s.

I try to maintain a balanced view of both the left and the right and have found that hate and ignorance is not limited by party lines, religion or race. But the leader(s) of the party, religion and race have a great deal of "say" in how much of this rhetoric is allowed to happen and how far their followers should be allowed to go, without censure or other ostracizing those people from the group before they are allowed to garner a power base.

When at a Palin speech, you could hear someone in the background yells "Kill Obama" and she smirked and did not denounce that person (I watched the video several times to be sure of what I was seeing -- it sickened me). I knew immediately I could not support the McCain/Palin ticket at any level and the negative rhetoric has only increased since then.

Thankfully, we Obama supporters (you note that I use the word we here) are not buying into the same level of negativity and are staying on the "high" road. That is the factor that ultimately sealed my decision to vote for Senator Obama and his plan for what he will attempt to do if elected on a wide range of issues.

Hopefully, Senator Obama will prove to be a LEADER that energizes this country and pulls us out of the mess we are currently in. If he is elected I hope that next Tuesday- that it is by a huge electoral and popular margin which will show a "mandate" for change from where we are today. Otherwise it will be a partisan political fight for every inch of progress that Obama wants to make, with the neo-conservatives fighting us every inch of the way.

IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE - VOTE FOR SENATOR OBAMA.

Tell 'em Count Floyd: "Ooo it's going to be scaaaary, very scaaary. So scaaary that you should just stay home."

Why don't we franchise abortion clinics and let the market decide if it's good or bad?
