Mediocrities latch onto whatever hits and repeat it endlessly in pursuit of cash or celebrity or both.

As a Floridian, I'm terrified that Rick Scott won the Repub primary for governor. Not only terrified at the prospect he could run our state, but depressed that he won so handily. It says a lot about my fellow Floridians.

I saw Scott on a TV interview before the primary, and it was astonishing how he let questions about the billions that his company stole from Medicare just roll off of him. He admitted that as CEO he was "ultimately responsible", but shirked the responsibility by saying he didn't know about it. He didn't know about it in spite of being told by underlings that they were getting into big trouble. The head of a company stealing billions and he didn't know about it?

And why didn't he know about the fraud on a massive scale? He says it was because he was too busy driving down the cost of health care. (!!!!!!!!)

Yes, his company was defrauding Medicare (i.e. us) for billions of dollars because he was so dedicated to reducing health care costs. Funny... we've been told for years that a major part of the astronomical rise in health care costs is fraud.

And he says shit like that with a straight face!!!

If he didn't know about it, he's totally incompetent to run a company, much less a large state. He's either incompetent, a pathological liar, a crook... or as I suspect, a combination of the three.

I hope his Democratic opponent, Alex Sink, the current CFO of Florida, hits hard on the massive fraud committed by his company under his reign (before his own board of directors fired him). Fortunately, Bud Chiles, son of the last Democratic governor we had, who was running without party affiliation, has recognized he'd be a spoiler for the Dem candidate, and has pulled out. Chiles is probably a good man (his dad sure was), but his being in the race would have helped Scott.

Ah... Florida... where politics is as strange as the strangest.

skruffy, I agree with you. Absolutely appalling that he would win any election given the facts of his tenure at HCA/Columbia.

This is second hand info, but I knew someone who worked at HCA in the administrative/billing dept. She said they were encouraged by management to overcharge medicare. The mandate came directly from Rick Scott and he made no secret to his employees that he hated the government. He should be in jail and the court documents open to the public since it was public money he stole.

Now the lying, liar, shameless sociopath wants to run the government.

Good stuff on Rick Scott.

The WAWG site seems to play havoc in some browsers, and personally, I find that pop-up begging for comments before you can navigate away from the site extremely obnoxious.
