Okay, maybe requiring minimum IQs as a standard to run for national office is a bit harsh, but can we at least insist that politicians prove that they are actually human and not some mindless automaton programmed with talking points?

(In the past,) Foxx has claimed Democratic reforms would mean seniors are “put to death by their government,” that health reform is a “distraction,” and that “there are no Americans who don’t have health care.” She was at it again today on the House floor, arguing that health reform is a greater threat to our country than “any terrorist right now in any country”:

Everywhere I go in my district, people tell me they are frightened. … I share that fear, and I believe they should be fearful. And I believe the greatest fear that we all should have to our freedom comes from this room — this very room — and what may happen later this week in terms of a tax increase bill masquerading as a health care bill. I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country.

Normally, this is where my head makes a very loud thunk against my desk at the stupidity, but instead I just find myself really angry at this illogical fear mongering and ugliness. But what can you expect from a politician ugly enough to call Matthew Shepard's murder "a hoax"?. Obviously her lip service towards valuing life doesn't really mean any living people.

Rep. Foxx, the lives of those 44,000 Americans who die needlessly every year because they do not have insurance is blood on your hands.

You've got a lot of explainin to do.

You stole my line.

.

Ain't that the truth. I want to see her birth certificate, I'll bet it says SC. That and BC after the date.

Foxx can't be human. I think she must of become consumed by her greed and hate and just turned into some kind of zombie shell.

This sick ugly old hag should be censored for such a hatefully ignorant statement.

Anything goes, I guess.

She's just pissed off 'cause someone dropped a house on her sister...and she had no healthcare.

water on her and watch her melt. Bring her broomstick the Lincoln Memorial.

where the f*ck is the Dem response to this idiot? Use their words and bury them,

...Alan Grayson had said, "Republican ideals are a bigger threat to the country than bin Laden." Conservatives would be marching down the streets carrying pitchforks and Grayson's comments would have been plastered across Fox and CNN, and picked up by the "librul" media as a "controversy." He would have been censored and forced to apologize.

A Repub says the exact inverse and it's *yawn* - whatever.

.

It seems like the Republicans(and the south) corner the market on this disturbing level of idiocy.

in this country seems to be mighty "selective" in their reporting. It is funny that for such a liberal-bias they only seem to get their panties caught in a twist when a Dem says anything remotely "critical" of a GOPer. And by remotely critical I mean, not finishing their sentences with a "pretty please"

... or just have her dentures hidden for a while. How removed from a regular 8-5 American is this old hag?

The GOP - the Party of Hyperbolic Ass Monkeys

Or in the words of you idol, Mr. Cheney, "Go f*ck yourself Rep Foxx"

No one else would.

ya ol' bat! She should be worrying about her bowel movements and not my healthcare!

Line up the bat-sh*t crazy GOPhers at any microphone, please! People need to hear them loudly and often.

I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country

By "we" she means the GOP. Then it makes perfect sense.

.

...old bag is proof of the fact that we lost the civil war.

I think it's time to let NC secede from union right fucking now!

Good god!

That's not fair. North Carolina went blue. Most states have at least one representative that showers shame on it. We did manage to get rid of Liddy Dole.

Further proof that inbreeding, Racism, Nazism, Socialism and just good old HATRED of AMERICA doesn't work.

Go away you goose Stepping Nazi Bitch. Your brother our is he your daddy wants you DUH!

Just an older model of Michele Bachmann.

Grandma, you forgot to take your meds again?

This old kook is living proof that not all dinosaurs are extinct. It is shameful when she says these things with a straight face, but even more shameful when other nutjobs are supporting such foolishness.

Virginia Foxx, and other morons like her, should not be in the hallowed halls of congress. They should be in the Rubber Ramada, under close supervision by the country's most prominent and experienced psychiatrists.

It's Michelle Bachmann from the future! She changed her name upon re-entry to this time period. I'm gonna ask her if we get flying cars yet.

..I find the tone really offensive. I try to comment in such a way that readers who may not share my viewpoint who happen to read the thread aren't put off by the ad hominem attacks.

What does her age, or her appearance, have to do with her irresponsible and wrongheaded comments?

I do wonder if, like Lieberman and Bayh, her motivation to maintain the status quo might be influenced more by moneyed connections than by the best interests of her constituents.

I might cut her some slack because of her age. I might doesn't mean that I do.

Whooo-hoo!

Aside from the continued fearmongering from the GOP, which is really getting old, I'm glad to see that terrorism is no longer a threat.

Agenda: Declare victory
Bring troops home
Close Gitmo
Repeal the Patriot Act
Repeal the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act
Let Haliburton go back to Dubai to count their money, extracted from our treasury.
Either execute Cheney for treason, or turn him over to the Hague with Addington, Woo and Wolfowitz.
(I'm told that outing an undercover CIA agent in the time of war carries an automatic death sentence.)
Cancel the F-22

HCR or the kind of social unrest that may occur in this country when things get so bad that people will do anything to afford a doctor's visit? Take a look at what happened to Argentina in the 1990's and don't think it 'can't happen here'. We're just as vulnerable, if not more so.

And if there's eventual social breakdown, it can be laid at the feet of those who refused to see the danger, happily esconced in their comfy corp-rat-ly decorated ideological bubbles. Needless to say, the majority of them being Repubs.

Foxx is Bachman minus the Desperate Housewives physical attributes. Besides Bachman, Foxx and Blackburn, there aren't many Rep women visible in the House. Thank goodness.

And Co 04 voters are to be thanked for getting rid of the fourth wackoette in 2008 - though I think
she's planning on running again in 2010. Can't let that happen.

A very sick and hateful senile nutbag.

...I'm thinking about running against her in 2010. I wouldn't have to do much, just run videos of all her stoopid fear-mongering idiocy, and I'd wind in a landslide.

Her only achievement since she was first elected was that she raised $2 million in her first 2 years in orifice. And true, it doesn't matter that she looks crazy, or that she's a slum lord in her home county, or that she's older. She's just a cast-iron embarrassment to the people of the 5th Congressional district of NC

is her middle name anyway, "Tech"? damned loon

Good luck, make the run against Virginia Tech Faux

working in a school lunchroom wearing a white frock and hair net dishing out meat loaf?

Dishing out crap on the congressional floor pays better and she gets government run health care for free.

Well, at least she didn't blame 9-11 on President Obama....yet.

This creature is Sarah Palin in 20 years - babbling like an idiot saying the most off the wall, delusional shit. Health care reform a bigger threat than terrorism? WTF? How do those connect? It's as if she just picked terrorism annd healthcare out of a hat and tried to connect them through six degrees of separation.

Doesn't this argument by Rep. Foxx kind of contradict Darth Cheney's broken record message about Obama making us less safe against terrorism?

seen my little tweety bird?"

He broke out of his cage and flew away. Can you blame him?

The republicans only have one tactic, fear. If they have no ideas or even understand what the hell they are talking about, they use some sort of fear and this was the best one she could come up with. Every one of them knows deep down that health care reform with the public option is needed but the idea of it happening under a demoncratic President rubs their butts raw.

I'm hoping this vitriolic old hag and her non-stop hyperbole are voted out of office next time around.
*

I'd settle for her losing bladder control while speaking on C-Span.

Jeebus what a crazy, fear mongering asshole.

"Freedom!"
"Fear!"

That's IT! Conservatism in a nutjob, I mean nutshell.

... can somebody please find her Clapper?

I hope so. No one would stoop so low as to give her the clapper.

send the old fool a box of clappers and tell her to go home and lie down

Is stupid republicans! I just don't get how these select group of people got to be so stupid. I mean until the last eight years we had the best education system in the world. But up until eight years ago we were pretty good in everything. Now we are the leader in insanity as shown by members of the republican party daily.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!

"Everywhere I go in my district people are frightened"

I guess so. Take off that rubber mask.

The one person Medic Alert wouldn't come to the aid of if she had fallen and couldn't get up.

This rotten bitch Fox is a perfect example of why I never show Republicans mercy. We are in a civil war.

this talking point on her way out of the Sunday services at her local mega church.

you are GD'd right ... it is a civil war ...and its time a lot of other people got the message ...

'dont criticize shes old ... shes a woman' ...f%#$ that! ... its a civil WAR folks...no turning back now.

In this clip Foxx used the following words this many times:

freedom (2)
frightened (2)
fear (6)
fearful (1)
terrorist (1)

And all in just over a minute! Wow, that must be a GOP talking points record. But you could have done better than that Rep. Foxx. Here's one you can read on house floor next time:

"Healthcare reform is a fear that freedom of the terror of fear is fear of fear of terror freedom. And it is my biggest fear of terror that freedom isn't free unless terror isn't free to terrorize my freedom. I understand their fear, because I fear too, fear for the fear of terror and the terror of fear of freedom which is healthcare reform. Freedom is freedom and terror is terror, that's what I fear most. And let me close by saying, terror! Fear! And freedom!. Madam speaker I yield the balance of my time as I'm about to be late for my luncheon with the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield. Thank you."

As a resident of North Carolina I called three different offices for "Representative" Foxx, to ask one question.

"Representative Foxx is opposed to a public healthcare option. Can you tell me why?"

No office was able to answer that question. One staffer was willing to reply that Representative Foxx is in favor of health care reform but opposed to a public option. I explained that my understanding of that fact predicated my asking why she was opposed, and asked why she thought it necessary to explain a fact I clearly already knew. She couldn't answer that either.

She is a representative. Representative of the health care industry. And one of the biggest insurance giants in the country, Blue Cross Blue Shield, is based in NC. It was probably BCBS who wrote that "terror, fear, freedom" speech for her to read on the house floor....nah, come to think they would have wrote a better one, that EPIC FAIL she probably wrote herself.

i repeat - They use 9/11 to defend the indefensible. Nothing is too low for a Republican.

"Wherever I go in my district I get the same questions. Are you an old linebacker in drag? What was it like bouncing Jack Benny on your knee when he was a little boy? Why are you still wearing that rubbermask, don't you know Halloween is over? How often have you been mistaken for Newt Gingrich with a sex change? And I answer all their questions the same way. Terror! Terror! Terror! Fear! Fear! Fear! Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!"

Health care reform done wrong(or not at all) would have more widespread and immediate effects on the average American than all but the worst biological terrorist attack would.

To Virginia Foxx, who sees terrorists in the cloakroom:

Madame Congresswoman, kindly blow it out of your ass.

Thank you.

is this woman's brainlessness.

Thank FSM I do not live in her district here in NC

..who's trying to exploit our national tragedy. What a disgusting, despicable carbon based life form!

Just highlights the following:

"YOO KANT FIKS STOOPID!!"

Didn't Alan Grayson point to a study that showed more than 14,000 people die each year from lack of health care coverage? We're dying here so we don't have to over there.

It's 44,000 people who die every year because of lack of health insurance.

feels safe uttering such garbage. She seems to feel that the voters in her district are so stupid that they will re-elect no matter what vile evil things she says.

Same broad who said Matthew Shepherd's murder wasn't a hate crime while his mom was sitting right there. There's a lot of hateful bile in that blood...

This is the crazy aunt at Thanksgiving who embarrasses the entire family by saying something demented

She represents HER CONSTITUENCY...which obviously consists of BC/BS and an ever-dwindling (hopefully) pile of rednecks, rubes, and idiots.

This is obviously one of the people who watches "Squidbillies" AND THINKS IT'S A DOCUMENTARY.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEDtB2HSGzA

so few ideas. Being a Republican must be fun. You can say whatever you want about whoever you want, and never be held accountable.

I too am in her district in NC. She is an embarassment to my district, my state, and my country. She is a hatefull, backstabbing, condescending B****. She's also from the Bronx, NY, and you can take her back anytime now. There are some great people in NC and SC. It's the politicians that are the hicks and rednecks.

Da Bronx don't want her back and Hell won't take her. Sorry, you're stuck with her in NC.

However, we will claim Alan Grayson back should he decide to leave Florida.

until every Republican is sedated and under the care of a mental health professional.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

n/t

Why do we continue to tolerate these idiot hicks from states where almost nobody lives?

The Republicans are a much bigger threat than terrorist. They want to keep killing 44,000 Americans a year, that's like 14.6 9-11's a year. I don't think the other terrorist organizations could possibly keep up with them.

Foxx is a true champion for the birthers and teabaggers. NC must be that damn dumb and uneducated to elect such a complete worthless hag.

Kern said gays are a bigger threat than terrorists. So imagine a gay person with health care coverage--yikes, the biggest threat to the world since the a-bomb.
