Go Home

There they go again...

The blog Right Wing News asked "more than a hundred bloggers" who they thought were the worst people in American history. The results may shock you! Or maybe not. [..]

This question was put out to over 100 crazies with internet connections:

Out of all the gangsters, serial killers, mass murderers, incompetent & crooked politicians, spies, traitors, and ultra left-wing kooks in all of American history — have you ever wondered who the worst of the worst was?"

[..]Here are the results, from 43 bloggers who responded:

23) Saul Alinsky (7)
23) Bill Clinton (7)
23) Hillary Clinton (7)
19) Michael Moore (7)
19) George Soros (8)
19) Alger Hiss (8)
19) Al Sharpton (8)
13) Al Gore (9)
13) Noam Chomsky (9)
13) Richard Nixon (9)
13) Jane Fonda (9)
13) Harry Reid (9)
13) Nancy Pelosi (9)
11) John Wilkes Booth (10)
11) Margaret Sanger (10)
9) Aldrich Ames (11)
9) Timothy McVeigh (11)
7) Ted Kennedy (14)
7) Lyndon Johnson (14)
5) Benedict Arnold (17)
5) Woodrow Wilson (17)
4) The Rosenbergs (19)
3) Franklin Delano Roosevelt (21)
2) Barack Obama (23)
1) Jimmy Carter (25)

I love the framing of the question: murderers, terrorists and "left-wing kooks". And what did these mental giants come up with? is Osama Bin Laden on the list? No. But FDR is. And he's WORSE than assassin John Wilkes Booth and domestic terrorist Tim McVeigh and traitors Aldrich Ames, Benedict Arnold and the Rosenbergs. And of course, the worst person in the history of the country is Jimmy Carter. Sorry Obama, you just missed the top spot.

Sweet Jesus, do these people have anything but bumper sticker slogans in their heads? The list is replete with such nonsense and brainless smearing (really, Jane Fonda and George Soros? Quick, someone on the right name for us how they have influenced the country. No fair cribbing notes from Glenn Beck).

Really McVeigh and Nixon? These are two of the rights heros. Something is not right with this list.

They must be thinking about how these guys actions in the conscience of the people reflect on their movement not how they actually feel about their actions.

Zach's picture

McVeigh was a right-wing terrorist, but their strategy is to not admit that there is such a thing. Thus they place McVeigh on a list with a bunch of left-wing people they hate, in order to start associating him with the left in people's minds. It's the same thing they've tried to do with Hitler and fascism, by repeatedly mentioning them at the same time they mention extreme left-wing dictators, they try to form an association. The fact that Hitler and fascism are factually the most extreme form of right-wing politics is not important to them, they simply want people to think anything and everything bad is somehow a product of the political left.

When you think about it, they really don't have a choice - if people truly were aware and understood the motivation and policies of the right, there wouldn't be a right! (it would be very much smaller than it currently is, anyway).

To illustrate the effectiveness, let's start a similar list, populated with the worst plagues, social diseases, and right-wing kooks in history:

10) Gonorrhea
9) Pat Buchanan
8) Herpes
7) Syphilis
6) HIV/AIDS
5) Rush Limbaugh
4) Smallpox
3) Ronald Reagan
2) The Black Death
1) George W. Bush

See how that works?

when they admire and emulate reichwingers like Hitler, Pinoche and similar. BUT if it does, then they must have deserved it, AND it always happenes to somebody else.

'the police would not have arrested them if they were not guilty...'

'the courts would not have sentenced that dissident troublemaker or union official to hang unless they were evil perps...'

'the jackboots would not have dragged my neighbours away at 3am in the morning unless they deserved it...'

What they miserably fail to understand is that a fascist machine always needs new meat for the grinder. Fascism thrives on hate, division, and turning sections of the population against each other.

Very well done.

Oh, my god. Epic Face Palm.

That's HILARIOUS. Surprised like, Dick Cheney or George Bush wasn't on the list. Or... I dunno. Hannibal Lector. Or... Jafar.

Doesn't really matter, does it? "Left" is apparently synonymous with "bad" so... logic be damned.

NO

There it is not the list in which something it wrong.

It is something in their Mind... If they have one.

By now every democrat should know they do not have a full deck and when facts are involved they have none.
You can they credit for THINKING..

They claim they stand for democracy and our constitution while their two heroes Bush/Cheney destroy both.

This should show you why they are addictive to Fox ?news? and the crazies that have shows on Fox..

Now do you wonder why Emanuel has Obama reaching across the isle trying to be bipartisan when his hand keeps getting sawed off.

This is why I believe Emanuel , Obama , blue dogs and most centrists are really pro war , pro corporate republicans which have been elected by the democratic ticket.

I believe Hillary was a conservative republican but Obama told us he was not and stupidly I believe him..

Soon after the election I knew our goose was cooked when Obama selected Emanuel and the Clinton group as his advisers.

They were screaming "character counts" at the top of their lungs, yet number one on this list had character out the ears, possibly even by their own admission.

And wasn't the 1982 recession worse than anything in Carter's term? Or do republicans give out 3-year mulligans to people trying to clean up the last guy's mess if their name isn't Obama?

Reagan spent them blaming Jimmy Carter for everything. Then when George H.W. Bush came along, so did he!

“The greatest evildoers are those who don’t remember because they have never given thought to the matter, and, without remembrance, nothing can hold them back,”

steeve's picture

I'd be amused, and frankly surprised, to see a quote from H W Bush blaming Carter for something. The world's greatest president presumably took care of all that.

What gets me about the "let's not keep blaming Bush" game going on now is that the people saying that also don't like Bush! When republicans have their next "we are a new breed of conservatives" convention, they'll be blaming Bush for their need to rebrand themselves.

-- Former President George W. Bush, quoted by CBS News, referring to Jimmy Carter's criticisms of his administration's handling of the Iraq war as a "flat out disaster."

This doesn't exactly meet your criteria, though - he's not blaming Carter for any of Carter's actions in office - he's blaming him for pointing out the truth.

that the peanut farmer ruined the economy in the late 70's. Reagan had to "fix" it in the 80's. The Clinton boom was atributable to "Reaganomics". But, if you play it out Carter would have been running under Nixon and Fords economy. Reagan would have been Carters economy, Bush 41 and Clinton would have been presiding over Reagans economy, and Bush 43 would have been running under Clintons economy. Of course you can't get them to play that game anymore because that would mean they would have to admit that Obama is presiding over W's economic policy.

Didn't the Reagan group made a deal with Iran to HOLD our prisoners until he took office to made sure Reagan won.

So they say the hell with the American citizens they are a tool for their power and control

Just as they are doing today with their vote NO to all policies which would help our country and Citizens.

Suspicions about a deal between the Reagan campaign and Iran over the hostages have circulated since the day of President Reagan's inaugural, when Iran agreed to release the 52 American hostages exactly five minutes after Mr. Reagan took the oath of office. Later, as it became known that arms started to flow to Iran via Israel only a few days after the inauguration, suspicions deepened that a secret arms-for-hostages deal had been concluded.

Five years later, when the Iran-contra affair revealed what seemed to be a similar swap of hostages for arms delivered through Israel, questions were revived about the 1980 election. In a nice, ironic twist, the phrase `October surprise,' which Vice Presidential candidate George Bush had coined to warn of possible political manipulation of the hostages by Jimmy Carter, began to be applied to the suspected secret activities of the 1980 Reagan-Bush campaign.

It went to a few things. First, it went to fighting the "we need to have mental institutions" thing. Because of all people in the country at that time, Reagan was the one person in complete mental control and knew that everyone else could be too. You know. Cut back on consumption.

And as every red-blooded American knows, it is our God-Given Right To Consume!

Consumption is the Heart and Soul of Being an American!

In the late 50s psychiatrists hired by Madison Avenue advertising agencies decided the best way to sell to Americans is to establish "Identity Through Consumption" and the whole brandOmania fad began.

You ARE the brand of car you own (of course you own a car!).

You ARE the brand of cigarettes you smoke (most smoked).

You ARE the brand of clothes you wear (clothes labels migrated from the discrete interior tag to the BOLD PUBLIC IMAGE).

Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest The Rosenbergs were actually innocent.

And who in the hell is Saul Alinsky?

a badge of honor. Even Nixon advanced policies that are anathema to the right. As a person of transparent decency and fundamental humanity Carter is perhaps one of the greater threats, not to America of course, but to wing nuttery.

Why is Dwight D. Eisenhower not on that list.
Yes, he was a WW2 hero, but he committed the ultimate betrayal of R-W purity by creating the interstate highway system.
Did Eisenhower not realize that commercial interest would have built the system on their own in good time.
Ultimately, it should be private interest that decides what is best for the American people, not socialist regimes like the Eisenhower Administration and Congress.

Prescott Bush. Without him we wouldn't have had to suffer through his son and grandson. Hopefully the name Bush will forever disqualify you from ever running for public office.

American citizens is now about 10 minutes....and since Reagan's administration, education has been reduced to memorizing dates....history and civics is a thing of the past.

And remember, "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." ...

We have Glenn Beck using his chalk board to tie in historical figures like Stalin in with Obama. If it wasn't for him, no one in America would know who Stalin is. Or what a chalkboard was.
