There really does seem to be something cult-like about today's GOP. Look at the graphs below of how economists rate the two tickets on the economy. The ones on the right show that the number supporting McCain is almost the same as the percentage who are registered as GOPers. The number of those saying that they are either Dem or Independent is huge relative to the number of GOPers.

I was thinking back...

Remember when that old guy was running for President on the Republican party ticket, and he chose that "pro-life" woman as his running mate and we were actually concerned they might win for a minute, until she performed a late-term abortion on live TV, during the VP debates, of both her credibility and her political prospects?

Oh, it was over as quickly as a few winks of an eye, or a "you betcha, Joe" or a shout-out to 3rd graders, but all of America agreed that even at five-weeks, her candidacy just wasn't viable.

May God be with the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan. And with our boys, too.

This senseless war against a phantom enemy has lasted too long. These guys aren't the Soviet Union. Why do we act like they are?

It would help if this new site design had a refresh button.

It should mention when a new comment is up.

But yes, the refresh button would be nice.

However I have to give props to Mr. Amato and company, the new design is the shiz-nit.

Also Joe Biden's mother-in-law, today. A sad reason to have to suspend campaiging, albeit a legitimate one.

On Sept. 17 Joshua Harris was killed by an IED attack in Afghanistan.
For the second week, his name has not appeared in the In Memoriam section.
How many other soldiers have been skipped, missed, overlooked and/or disrespected in this manner?

When/IF his name appears, he'll still be dead? What of his family and friends? They have to watch each week until his name makes the list?
There are many kinds of torture.
