This Week with George Stephanopoulos marks the passing of former Congressman and VP candidate Jack Kemp and LBJ speechwriter Charles Maguire. In addition, the Pentagon has released the names of five servicemembers killed in Iraq:

Army CSM Benjamin Moore, Jr, 43, of Waycross, GA

Army SSG Leroy O Webster, 28, of Sioux Falls, SD

Marine Sgt James R McIlvaine, 26, of Olney, MD

Marine SSgt Mark A Wojciechowski, 25, of Cincinnati, OH

Navy PO2 Tyler J Trahan, 22, of East Freetown, MA

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied servicemembers killed in Iraq is 4,602; in Afghanistan, that number is 1,141. Per Iraq Body Count, 181 Iraqi civilians were killed during this same week.

... Army CSM Benjamin Moore, Army SSG Leroy O Webster, Marine Sgt James R McIlvaine, Marine SSgt Mark A Wojciechowski, Navy PO2 Tyler J Trahan and my prayers for their families.

is the 39th anniversary of the Kent State killings.

For which there is still no plausible explanation.

If you didn't bring that up I would have never known. Their should be an annual remembrance of the day the National Guard murdered their own people by orders of their government for opposing their policies. Not just for the ones who died but for the warning of what a crooked administration could do to silence it's critics.

Thanks.

On May 4, 1970 the Ohio National Guard opened fire into a busy college campus during a school day. A total of 67 shots were fired in 13 seconds. Four students: Allison Krause, William Schroeder, Jeffrey Miller, and Sandra Scheuer were killed. Nine students were wounded.

Deb,Vegas

181 innocent civilians killed for war criminal bush's illegal war. Where is the outrage now that Obama is president? I will not vote for another american president again until we stop killing people.

Bush's War of Choice can't be stopped on a dime, no matter how much our POTUS
or we want to do so.

My anger is now and will always be at BUSHCO.
Let the trials begin .......................

4, occasionally 5 soldiers are REPORTED dying each and every week.
Each year no more than 1,000 are REPORTED killed in action.

Not once have I seen this unlikely tally addressed for what it is:
Propaganda. Dull, predictable litmus of how dead WE are.
