I was expecting that maybe with all of the problems we face as a nation and a planet, that at least some ADULTS would show up and do what is right - not what is in their own best interests. I must be thinking of another country/world.....

Anyone who has talked to me in depth knows i am an Atheist. In the US i have the right not only to be an Atheist, but at least in theory the right to not worship, not pray and not believe in anything i want to.
I am also a believer in freedom of Religion and if you want to sing nursery rhymes to a rock garden, be my guest.
That is why i have to state my objections to a lawsuit being aimed at stopping Obama from taking the Oath of Office with a bible or having any prayers said during the swearing in Ceremony.
If as President you can not be allowed to be sworn into office the way you want to be sworn in when it comes to your religious beliefs then that would be a violation of the Constitution. No one else will be sworn into office. No one else is forced to repeat the oath.
we will have an atheist President and no one will care just as long as we all have jobs to go to.

There are a lot of people talking about the brutality of Israel's retaliation on Hamas, my question: how should they attack hamas, with flowers? After six months of having rockets launched at them because Hamas chose not to use suicide bombers, what were the Israelis to do? Continue peace talks? why?
Hamas completely failed as a governing body here in failing to protect their citizenry from harm. By mingling with populations of Palestinians, did they think that was going to help their cause? What do you think war does? It kills people and Hamas just doesn't care about anyone, only itself and its wretched hold on people's lives they don't care about. If they really cared, they would see to it the Palestinians under their care would get proper health care, electricity, jobs, water, etc. What they bring is death and that's about it.
What has Hamas done for its people lately? Not much.
