My pick was for Bachmann based soley on delusion factor. It appears the "dumb dolt" crowd ( Scammity and Sarwhat? ) won this one. The top three are really the trifecta of ignorance though aren't they ? priceless.....
The thought of Palin assuming the presidency still causes me a sinking feeling of dread.

Not by much, what was it about 8% in the popular vote? I still get a sinking feeling thinking there are that many people out there who actually supported this woman. She's ignorant, grossly under qualified, a religious nut, a walking family values contradiction with her unwed teenage baby momma who's mother in law is a drug dealer, she's corrupt, she'd step on her own mother if it meant getting to the top, she's an animal abuser, she paraded those kids as political props every chance she got, her husband is an America hating secessionist, she's a liar, a fear monger and smear artist...I mean the woman literally has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and there was a huge segment of the US population who STILL supported her. Now THAT is what sinks my stomach to think about that they would support her in spite of all of this.
There's a lot of crazy conservative loons out there who pose a bigger threat to this country than any terrorist from abroad.
That's the tidiest and most accurate nutshell of Sarah Palin I've ever seen.
I'd just edge in a couple more things -- her disregard for money that is not hers. Not just the RNC clothes, but her staying at home and sending the state a per diem charge when her home and her working office were about 20 minutes apart. How their house was built. And her using the governor's office to settle personal family scores.
I guess there's no succinct way to put those things in your list, which IS succinct, and you've hit most of the high spots.

I've heard both that sarah was a weather girl, or a sports reporter, and it just hit me that's what bugs me so much about her personally. It' that phony folksiness and bubbly personalities of so many local news anchors and reporters.
And even nationally you have people like regis philbin who can smile with their mouths but their eyes remain unchanged.
Like Bush, Palin is the darling of low information voters. She will be their first choice for 2012 and provide much entertainment.

Now she is saying her grandchild's parents did not drop out of school, they are finishing high school by taking correspondence courses. What? They can't just attend the local high school?

I had not read about the "high school dropout" comment from Palin, so I did a Yahoo search to read the actual news story.
I came across this article, dated November 2007 (a full year before Palin appeared on the national scene), in which Johns Hopkins University named seven Alaska high schools as "dropout factories".
Wasilla High School was included on the list.
Apparently JHU considers a school to be a "dropout factory" if more than 60% of their incoming freshmen fail to reach their senior year. That number is abhorrent.

Baby daddy is getting his GED (I think, dog forbid it's his diploma) via correspondence while he works as an electrician's assistant on the North Slope. I found that in an Anchorage Daily News article when I was trying to see what Grandma Johnston was busted for (Oxycontin fwiw...).
Now I'm sure baby daddy will be back to provide the warm and loving attention a baby needs from it's father, so not to worry about that.

Isn't that the year when Palin would run and the world is supposed to end? Whoa, that's heavy - Palin and the end of the world. How hard will that be for a democrat to overcome. The best case scenario? Palin remains visible enough to provide endless entertainment for years to come, while attracting just enough of a following to cripple the Republican Party, and failing to get elected to any major elective office ever again.
The Republicans just don't have ANYONE of admirable or even reasonable stature on the scene and haven't for a long long time. Fox News reporters released their first interview at Sarah's hotel room. Per the men who were there she came to the door in only a towel and ask if they could wait. Now you know why every male Jouranlist even fake Journalist wanted an interview. Sarah knew how to get attention the old fashion way and that's how she got to be Govenor. No wonder First Dude is an alcoholic as his wife uses sex to keep the family rich. Republicans have no leader so Sarah just might be their choice in 2012 but she will have to do much more for the male American then show leg, wink and walk around in a towel. No wonder the Middel East Leaders wanted to be alone with her for a quick minute. Sarah could skew the world and do what George W. couldn't yes be the Ruler of the World but tired and of couse these spots for unprotected sex. But for Sarah it would be worth it. I think what made sarah palin stand out among wingnuts is unlike ray gunn she couldn't even fake having a national vision, with all the eye rolling, winking, folksiness, she did everything but smack her gum. boosh, as bad as he is, can sometimes fake looking presidential, whilst she was going for Miss. Congeniality. Meanwhile as others have pointed out she has a seccesionist, Dominionist background, and doesn't even understand why that should concern us. She denounces the Supreme Court of the past for their liberal activism, but then can't name any Supreme Court cases? Even when asked what she read, she couldn't even name her own home town newspaper?
On top of that she gets upstaged by joe the plumber?

2. thinks humans and dinosaurs co-existed
3. as mayor of Wasilla, ignored the meth problem in her town
4. had an affair with her husband's business partner
5. lied about the parentage of Trig
6. truly believes she's qualified to be president
This whack job doesn't need expensive clothes: she needs psychiatric therapy -- quickly.
There's no proof she isn't the mother of Trig, just a lot of people who "believe" it. What IS true that was shown in her medical records is that she was pregnant with her firstborn, Track, before she was wed.
There's plenty about her not to like without believing stuff that hasn't been proved! And I suspect there's more that we'll find out over time.
..or hear her name mentioned again it will be too soon. There is no reason I can think of to ever bring her up again on C&L.
Sadly, my sister created a lovely Christmas gift for me: she stenciled a great "PALIN / 2012" tee shirt just for me - 'cause she knows how I can't stand Miss Sarah. I would vote for the entire Fox News network,... the only time I was ever in heated debates with people over any of the social issues that plagued this year was with people just parroting the lies that came from that station. I wish someone would just sue them for fraud & be done with it.

My God I have had it up to my eyeballs with "discussions" involving people at work and at social events including family members who could do nothing but spew the same BS that they heard on Faux News. They would not listen to anything close to reason because they have listened to this tired rhetoric for a decade and actually believe they are getting a "fair and balanced" representation. I finally had to quit discussing anything involving politics because it was bad for my blood pressure. Now these same people want me to believe that Bush will be seen as a good president in the history books because of all the great things he has done. Its like living in an alternate universe!
Unfortunately, I did not have the quick wit to come up with the name "Wasilly"; this was done years before I arrived in Alaska. But I can verify the nature of Wasilla and why this collection of odd strip malls and hillbilly hippies has earned this moniker (witness the guv's mother in laws recent arrest for oxycontin, termed (not by me) hippie heroin. As a citizen of Alaska, I respected Palin for her efforts against her own party's corruption; but changed my mind when I saw her on the national stage, as well as her punitive efforts against Walt Monegan, former head of the Alaska State Troopers (who oversee the VPSO--village police safety officers; although required to complete the same course as state troopers, they are not required to carry firearms--the only level of law enforcement in rural Alaska). As a resident of said rural communities ( and we are talking really rural, like you can only reach them by small plane and only two to three times a week, and then only after extensive weather holds, resulting in real flight times of 5-10 days).
Regarding the 80% approval rating from earlier this year, as a benficiary, I can testify that in large part this resulted from the Alaskan legislature approving another 1200$ payout to every Alaskan (man, woman and child, based on a calendar year of residency) combined with the highest ever dividend (@2100$) for every man, woman and child. These are facts that I have never seen published in major media.
Why does that award look so much like some kind of religious icon?

I know one can make a case for anything, but in my view Sarah Palin is not a wingnut. At least not in the true sense of the term, in my opinion.
A Wingnut would have to be CONSCIOUS of the ultra-right, political philosophy he or she is espousing. Sarah has proven time and again that she is not fully conscious.
