Billionaires for Wealthcare Crash AHIP Event, Break Into Song About Public Option
By Susie Madrak Saturday Oct 24, 2009 5:00amI love the Billionaires for Wealthcare:
Republican pollster Bill McInturff was the keynote speaker on the final day of the America's Health Insurance Plans's state issues conference on Friday morning.
But his speech on how the health care reform debate was playing among the public was interrupted before it even began. A group of protesters began aggressively cheering McInturff for the work he has done for AHIP (he's a hired pollster for the private insurance lobby and, most infamously, was the force behind the 'Harry and Louise' ads in 1994).
McInturff, initially thinking that the cheering was legitimate, thanked the "AHIP officials" in the back of the room for giving him mental encouragement for his speech. He was not being paid for his appearance, he noted.
And then, the protesters -- dressed in business attire to fit into the crowd -- began singing. A relatively lengthy and harmonious rendition of "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie ensued, only with the chorus focused on government-run insurance. "The option, the option, we must have, the option... " went the rendition, in reference to the public plan.

Karen Ignani had a scam

and everywhere Ignani went
the fleecing was sure to growe.
You can email your representative and senators to demand a strong public option from
http://www.change.org/actions/view/i_demand_t...
that really was quite brilliant ... certainly shows a stark contrast in the tactics of progressives vs teabaggers, doesn't it.
Incredible difference in methods..and progressives are talented to boot, whilst the teabaggers don't even realize that medicare is govt issued health insurance.
...is that the public option, is not really an option! (Orwellian)
You will be forced to to either...
"opt" for health insurance from a private insurance company,
or "opt" for health insurance from the govt,
or "opt?" ...to not participate in the whole "ponzi scheme"....
...and pay a thousand dollar fine.
(nice) George Orwell is rolling in his grave.
But I'll admit I loved seeing AHIP get punked.
The socialists realize it which is why we say single payer is the minimum.
The profit motive in health care is barbarism.
As for Orwell rolls in his grave, a documentary well worth watching here

I agree, single payer should have been the starting point and the debate should have been on its implementation.
They allowed the corporations to frame the issue at the get-go and now it's a battle just to reclaim that lost ground.
sweden still has private insurance companies...but by law, all are non-profit
its the profit driven insurance companies that are evil, because they must, by definition, be run like a mafia protection scheme
Where were the singers guns?
Really there should have been no problem with them carrying side arms to help get the song across.
That is kind of a silly thought but what is the difference? Because they are inside? Really what are the rules if you can bring a gun to the president's speech but not a meeting of health care executives?
the 'baggers of tea and these assturds insurance companies.
Great job.
HR 676 single payer, is the minimum we should accept.
We need a tune to put it to.
Thanks
Surfin' this morning, I see it's getting good exposure.
The comparison with the tea baggers is a great thought. This was really really well done.
on food court musical
beats teabuggery
It was refreshing. It was sure better than a lot of screaming an yelling.
that was the coolest protest ever
Didn't think so.
Let me introduce myself: my alter-ego with my fellow billionaires is I R Richerdenu. I participated in a few of our wealthy get togethers during the Bush years. If I do say so myself, my sweetie and I "clean up good." LOL
That said, this group has gone beyond our limited capabilities. No one, and I mean no one, would want to hear either of us sing anything, under any condition, much less acapella.
Come to think of it, we could put our singing abilities to use extracting information from criminal suspects. Compared to listening to the two of us "harmonize" (think of two angry raccoons under the porch) renditioning would seem kind.
Bravo Billionaires for Wealthcare, Bravo!!
What singing! What talent! What balls!
I love them
When all hope seems lost someone like the "Billionares" step up to the plate and they do it with style. It took the actual billioniares a few minutes to figure out what the #&%# was going on and to call in the minimum wagers in to throw them out. But the message got through.
...where I can download this video from a site other than youTube? I've tried SEVERAL times with "FLV Converter Pro" & all I get is an "error!" msg. I'd like to save this to a DVD. It's GREAT!!
which now has a built in downloader
or use firefox with a 3rd party ap
My God, just how damn dumb are these Reslugs????
We have the creativity. The republicans have the crazies.
The song they were parodying is "Tomorrow Belongs to Me," the quasi-Nazi anthem from Cabaret.
That was most definitely 'Tomorrow' from Annie. Not 'Tomorrow Belongs to Me' from Cabaret
By far the most creative disruption of a speach in ages! Both in execution and material.
Lame.
