Panetta: CIA Misled Congress 'For a Number of Years." We Are Shocked!

WASHINGTON -- Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon E. Panetta has told lawmakers that CIA officials misled Congress "for a number of years" since 2001, according to a letter released Wednesday from seven Democratic lawmakers.
The lawmakers say the CIA also withheld information about unspecified "significant actions."
The letter didn't identify when Mr. Panetta made the statements or to what they referred.
"This is similar to other deceptions of which we are aware from other recent periods," the letter continued.
CIA spokesman George Little said "it is not the policy or practice of the CIA to mislead Congress." Mr. Little said the CIA itself "took the initiative to notify the oversight committees" about the lapses.
The release of the letter is the latest twist in a tussle between House Democrats and the CIA. Earlier this year, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused the CIA of misleading her in briefings about the agency's use of waterboarding, an allegation refuted by the agency and challenged by Republicans.
It also comes one day before the House is scheduled to debate an intelligence bill. President Barack Obama issued a veto threat on Wednesday over provisions that would require more expansive briefings of intelligence committee members on sensitive matters.

Ya ok LandL. A government agency lies, but politicians don't. Pelosi is angelic in her honesty, and it's quite obvious, undeserving to be speaker if she doesn't have a handle on what government agencies are doing in American's names. But I believe it wasn't Obama that issued a veto threat. Rather, members of his administration suggested they would advise him to veto the bill should it cross his desk.
Maybe that's a small difference, maybe it's not.
UPDATE: The statement says, "If the final bill presented to the President contains this provision, the President's senior advisers would recommend a veto."
Not sure if this is standard wording or what they call "wiggle room".

Obama promised transparency and gives us BUSH like secrecy.
If he were to veto the DEMS bill forcing more more expansive briefings of intelligence committee members on sensitive matters, then he will have continued to break his campaign promises and then would desrve NO support from progressives!

When I really concentrate, the manipulation is so much more intricate than that. Because they are almost blatantly telling us to stuff it, they must have a remaining weakness. What is it, and can we exploit it? Clearly, they need people to think their votes count. Divide and conquer does work, so keep the illusion of two parties. Keep them at each others throats. They want taxes to continue to be collected from the people to keep their costs low, their profits as high as possible, and to keep money out of the hands of the real people. Give them just barely enough to survive. What happens when we just get in their way? Well, if they poison the foods that are sold in the only places the peasants can afford to shop, they'll die off. When they are gone, more resources will exist just for the wealthy corporate owners. Nirvana at last.
