Don't let that deter you though, because they have a good sense of structure and know how to build on the ideas within their pieces. The band started with a few members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and has grown into a band with its own mature and unique sound. Personally, I find them a little more interesting than GYBE, as I feel they do a better job of expanding upon leitmotifs and have a bit more musical direction.

Got any favorite bands that grew out of other bands?
