For tonight's Music Club, here's Bud Powell playing "A Night in Tunisia" by Dizzy Gillespie.
October 23, 2014

While a brilliant musician, Bud Powell battled with Schizophrenia for a long time. All those noises you can hear him making while he's playing? Those who knew him said "you could hear his demons" when he played, and that's how they were manifested. Regardless, he was an incredibly talented pianist and influential soloist. Bebop piano wouldn't have been the same without him.

What are you listening to tonight?
