This is the way the torture apologists are spinning torture: Anyone who objects is a whiny ass titty baby who isn't grown up enough to understand why it's absolutely necessary to rectally feed prisoners in order to gain information.

Of course, they don't focus on anything other than waterboarding, because if they did, they'd have to admit that the totality of evil inflicted on those prisoners was indeed torture. From waterboarding to "rectal rehydration," when you add it up you just cannot deny the obvious.

Unless you're Morning Joe, who first plays the "both sides" card by saying that Obama will go down as inflicting worse harm via his drone strikes, and then has the nerve to suggest that liberals serve as apologists for that because it's Obama doing it.

To which I call bullshit, and anyone who understands how to use the Google knows I'm right. The loudest and most angry calls to end drone strikes have come from progressives, not right wingers. Why? Because we don't think that's necessary at all. We don't believe in war, torture, drone strikes or bombing thousands of civilians into oblivion. So no one is defending it, but at least we can say that we've got most of our troops out of the countries the torturers and their apologists put us in.

That's the bothsides bullshit argument in full glory right there. Forget about the rectal rehydration, kids, because DRONES.

Ok, so that one didn't work? Try this zinger on for size. Evidently anyone who objects to torture is just a big baby and anyone critical of it is unfit for office. Clearly Morning Joke is referring here to Obama, who does object to torture and signed the executive order to stop those interrogations on his first day in office.

This is the strategy, though. Unapologetic, in-your-face fist shaking. And for good measure, they toss in taunts as if this is a binary question. For these wingnuts, you cannot be upset over 9-11 AND oppose immoral, evil acts as retaliation. There can never be another choice.

Boy, am I glad I'm not a wingnut, but it's upsetting to see this kind of influence going out over the air, whether via Fox News, CNN or MSNBC. Enough with the torture apologetics. Better to admit the wrongs done and dish out some consequences to those who sanctioned it than allow this nonsense to convince Americans they are perfectly justified in doing this again.
