While Fox News gleefully points fingers at Brian Williams, it might want to pay a little more attention to truth-telling within its own ranks.
As I previously reported, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo was not satisfied with Fox's numerous apologies for reporting that there are sections of Paris that have been taken over by Muslims and made inaccessible to everyone else. Those falsehoods were hilariously mocked on French TV’s version of The Daily Show, Le Petit Journal.
But not everyone is laughing.
From Huffington Post:
Paris City Council authorized Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Wednesday to sue U.S. broadcaster Fox News for reporting there are "no-go zones" in the French capital where non-Muslims and police fear to venture.
City officials voted to file a lawsuit at a French court for defamation regarding comments on Fox News and a map it broadcast with eight such so-called off-limits areas circled in red. The report came when Paris was on high alert after attacks by Islamic radicals last month.
HuffPo also reports that Fox has vowed to vigorously fight the lawsuit. But, as I previously noted, Fox may well be better off settling.
Stay tuned! Meanwhile, check out the segment above from The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson (via Huffington Post) that is a great example of Fox’s misleading reporting. Also check out one of Le Petit Journal’s send ups of Fox News' reporting underneath.
