Fox and Friends' newest host and anti-minority rights advocate, Ainsley Earhardt, fawned over a millionaire televangelist this morning as if it were her last ticket to the pearly white gates of Heaven. Her esteemed guest wants to put more 'God' and Christian faith in our elections, and claims that he's not at all partisan. He's on the perfect channel for his message, because how could the network's audience argue against promoting more god in our elections? What better way to get his divine message to the people than a folksy bus tour?
In reality, the objective of Franklin Graham, son of Billy, is to stop the LGBT 'godless agenda.' He cleverly disguises his insidious motives by naming his latest campaign the 50-state Decision America Tour, which he defines as a concerted effort to elect more Christians to all positions in government.
This is a well-known motive of the Dominionist Christianity movement, which seeks to control all aspects of society. One of the 'mountains' of its Seven Mountains strategy is a government controlled exclusively by Conservative Christians, like Senator Ted Cruz. Since he's almost inevitably the GOP nominee, evangelicals like Graham have bought into the ruse that Donald Trump is enough of a Christian whom they can rally behind because of his perceived honesty and outsider status. They'll let his previous pronouncements about his faith, or lack thereof, slide.
Graham has been vehemently opposed to any rights for the LGBT community, especially marriage equality. In addition to his homophobic activism, Graham is a well-known Islamophobe who believes our president is not a 'real' Christian.
Fox 'News' introduces this segment in duplicitous fashion: Why is faith important in deciding our next president? What they really mean is that our next president has to agree with the hate-mongering espoused by Graham and his various tax-free organizations. The minister wants our nation to confess our sins, which is actually code for our country has sinfully allowed the LGBT community to enjoy the same rights as heterosexual citizens. He has predicted our society's demise as a result of this "abomination."
Graham has no use, apparently, for Article 6 of the Constitution, which forbids a religious test to hold office. He wants Christians elected to office everywhere, from the school board all the way to the presidency. He's taking his message to the people, not actually in the form of a humble bus tour, but as elaborate prayer rallies with tens of thousands of attendees.
We all know that the media has promoted the idea that the party of 'God' is the Republican Party, who hijacked the faith most effectively with the Moral Majority during the Reagan years. Christianity professes humility and poverty as virtues, yet Franklin Graham is one of the highest paid religious leaders in the nation. His salary for Samaritan's Purse is lavish, to say the least.
CEOs at the top 50 U.S. charities, including Samaritan’s Purse, earn in the $350,000 to $450,000 range, which makes Graham’s $622,000 salary from his aid organization alone about 40 percent to 50 percent higher than average, according to a Forbes story. He receives the rest of his $258,000 compensation as CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Graham did not explicitly mention his anti-LGBT agenda this morning; he stressed that he's absolutely not 'taking sides' in this election. He welcomes all God-loving Americans, just as long as they worship his God (assuming they feel the same way about the gays and Muslims). He came across as a reasonable person on the show, but that is just a facade. He is an extremely radical and hateful man. Franklin was an outspoken proponent of the Chick-Fil-A franchise, asking his followers to 'reject gays and eat at Chick-Fil-A.'
He joined James Dobson in October, 2015 where he advised churches not to welcome homosexuals and their children.
We have allowed the Enemy to come into our churches," Graham said. "I was talking to some Christians and they were talking about how they invited these gay children to come into their home and to come into the church and that they were wanting to influence them. And I thought to myself, they're not going to influence those kids; those kids are going to influence those parent's children."
If that doesn't convince you of his character, he said this in May, 2015:
We can’t sit idly by any longer. LGBT activists, abortion rights advocates, aggressive atheist groups, and others who ignore God’s Word are trying to shove their agenda down our throats. We need to take every opportunity to speak up for biblical standards and let our lights shine. We need to work to preserve our religious freedoms so that we can continue to proclaim the Gospel freely.
Ainsely Earhardt is enamored with the patriarch of the Graham family, legendary televangelist Billy Graham.
EARHARDT: I have to ask you, how is your precious father doing?
GRAHAM: He's 97 and he's doing pretty good. I go to see him every weekend.
Earhardt and Graham spent the last minute of the interview praising Franklin's stay-at-home mother who knew the scriptures backwards and forwards. A picture perfect mother and wife, she excelled at taking care of the household, thus allowing her husband to focus on his preaching activities. Both referred to her as the mother and the wife, but never mentioned her actual name. Women should know their place in Graham's world, and the Republican Party and its TV network wholeheartedly agree with that idea.
