Tonight, the C&L Music Club wishes Jacques Dutronc a happy 73rd birthday.

For those not familiar with Mr. Dutronc. he has been a fixture of the French entertainment scene since the early 60's. His music has changed and mutated through out the years. Always contemporary but also always on the fringe. In the 21st century he has been cited by bands such as the Black Lips as a musical influence(hear their cover of tonight's song here)

Jacques has also had a 2nd career as an award winning actor since the early 70's. He was worked with directors like Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Lelouch and Jean-Marie Périer. Steven Spielberg said that Dutronc was the best French actor of his generation. It has said the he had the role of René Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark written with Jacques in mind. He didn't get the part though because it was learned that he didn't speak English well.

He's also been married to Françoise Hardy for 35 years which makes him a pretty smooth cat in my book.
