Trump surrogate Corey Lewandowski had a rough segment on CNN this morning when he first got frustrated the alleged bomber wasn't here illegally and then smeared all of law enforcement on the process.

Trump's former campaign manager and CNN analyst Corey Lewandowski tried to use the NYC bombings to flog Trump's anti-immigration policies, but was dumbfounded when he was told Ahmad Khan Rahami, the suspected bomber, is a naturalized U.S. citizen.

CNN's New Day played a video clip of Donald Trump predicting a wave of terror attacks in the U.S. on Fox & Friends after last night's bombing and asked Corey Lewandowski if this was the right message to send.

Co-host Alisyn Camerota asked, "Corey, to suggest that there would be more and more terror attacks across the country, is that the right tone for a morning like this?"

Lewandowski replied, " Well, I think what it is, it re-highlights the problem we have with our immigration system. What we know is that 40% of people in the country illegally have overstayed their visas. And what we hear from the reports this morning is that this person is either potentially of Afghani descent - or..."

Camerota cut in, "A naturalized citizen."

Corey said, "Well, but..."

"That's not overstaying a visa."

Corey sounded like a robot when he said, " Is that - what - the - report is for this person that's committed potentially a terrorist attack?

Chris Cuomo said, "Yea, he's a naturalized citizen."

Corey: "If that's the case"

Cuomo: "He's not a refugee."

Corey: "Did come into the country illegally? Was the proper work done?"

This is typical of Trump and his surrogates behavior. Don't bother learning the facts and fit every situation that you feel can benefit the campaign into a narrative you create to suit your needs.

Lewandowski then tried to switch the topic to the San Bernardino shooters to justify his boneheaded words and Camerota responded, "This is different. You're making a connection we don't know yet."

That's what Trump supporters do all the time.

Cuomo then said, "It sounds like he's trying to make the most of the potential bad news in this situation."

Lewandowski had nothing so he stuck to his script and said that Trump will be tough and then gave Trump credit for calling Brussels, a terrorist attack when reporters and politicians were smartly trying to get their facts correct before issuing statements.

Christine Quinn, Vice Chair of the NY State Democratic Party replied, "I actually find this incredibly sad, Donald Trumps' behavior. What you want in a moment like this is leaders who will give you the truth in a fact-based way..."

Camerota then asked Corey if Trump should have tried to quell anxiety instead of stoking anxiety in the population after the bombing.

Here's where Corey got into trouble again defending Trump because he smeared our entire law enforcement community with his next words.

Alisyn asked, "How would he stamp out home-grown terror when obviously all the police are trying to find these cells."

Corey replied, "Look, this is a unique incident where the police ARE doing their job and I think they are doing a great job, of course."

Corey just told the world that the police have been totally inept except for last night's incident.

Off camera, Christine asked, "Where have the police done a bad job?"

Lewandowski continued prattling on with his "proper vetting of immigrants nonsense" until Christine jumped back in and Corey lost his mind.

Quinn said, " I don't know why Corey said this is an example of a time when the police have done good work. I don't think this is a time for anyone in public life, yourself or anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign to be criticizing first responders."

Corey cried, "No one criticized that, I said they're doing a good job..I was a police officer, please don't question me. You didn't put a badge on and you didn't carry a gun and put your life in danger."

"Watch your words."

Corey cried again, "Please don't question my commitment."

Trump surrogates, at times, are as sickening as Trump himself.
