Donald Trump's former campaign manager and now paid CNN contributor decided the best way to push back against President Obama's scathing critiques of Trump is by reviving dead and buried birther fantasies.

Lewandowski was upset that President Obama started to respond to the constant attacks by Trump and when he called Donald "unfit for presidency," he said, "And if he wants to engage in partisan politics, I don't think this is the right venue for it."

CNN's Angela Rye pushed back and called out Trump for being the leader of the birther movement, "He is the one who was the spokesperson for the birther movement, and was calling for transcripts for -- and saying the president was an affirmative action admittee of Harvard."

Corey jumped on the birther comment immediately and channeled the crazy Orly Taitz and asked, " Did he ever release his transcripts from Harvard?"

This caused an eruption on the set:

RYE: Corey? Just a moment, I'm going to Beyonce you. Boy, bye. You just so out of line right now, tell your candidate to release his tax returns.

LEWANDOWSKI: Don't raise the issue if you don't want to address it.

RYE: Two words, tax returns. Tax returns.

LEWANDOWSKI: Harvard University transcripts. You raised the issue, did he ever release them?

LEMON: OK, let me ask you something. Let me ask you something -- What is the importance of Barack Obama's Harvard transcript?

LEWANDOWSKI: It's not, she brought the issue up.

LEMON: I'm asking you, how is -- hold on. How is it germane to the election, and the American people?

LEWANDOWSKI: Look, the only reason it's germane is because she brought the issue up, and said Donald Trump raised the issue of his Harvard transcripts. And I just simply said "have those transcripts ever been released?" And the question was "did he get in as a U.S. citizen, or was he brought into Harvard University as a citizen who wasn't from this country?"

Obviously Corey had nothing to use against the sitting US president so he dipped into the birther well and took a huge gulp.

What an idiot.

CNN is paying this guy and Jeff Zucker is pleased with his performance:

“I actually think he’s done a really nice job,” Zucker continued. “He’s come under a much greater spotlight because of who he is, and the relationship he’s had with the media. As a result, people are going to be more critical.”

The hire was criticized because Lewandowski was still being paid a severance from Trump and had signed a nondisclosure agreement with the campaign

And now he's a vocal Birther!
