Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence suggested on Sunday that he was not "sure" if Hillary Clinton was taking performance enhancing drugs to defeat Donald Trump in the general election debates.

At a rally on Saturday, Trump accused Clinton of "getting pumped up" with drugs to enhance her debate performance.

"I think we should take a drug test prior to the debate," the GOP nominee told the crowd. "Because I don't know what's going on with her, but at the beginning of her last debate, she was all pumped up at the beginning, and at the end it was like, huff, take me down. She could barely reach her car."

On Sunday, Fox News host Bret Baier asked Pence if agreed with his running mate's charge that the Democratic nominee might be on performance enhancing drugs.

"All I know for sure is that Donald Trump's going to be ready for the debate on Wednesday night," Pence smiled before pivoting to his talking points. "And the American people are going to see someone who is prepared to lead this country, prepared to bring the kind of strength and determination that it's going to require to really turn the country around."

"So, I'm looking forward to the debate and I know he'll be ready for it."
