Finally, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), who once had an “A” rating from the NRA, has seen the light, according to the Washington Post. He not only donated an equivalent amount of his NRA donations to prominent gun-control groups, he's calling for more gun restrictions. (His ambition to take Nancy Pelosi's position as House leader probably had something to do with it, too.)

He wants to improve the federal background-check system, keep guns away from stalkers and domestic abusers, and bar those on terrorism watch lists from buying guns. He also called on lawmakers to “raise the standards” for anyone wishing to buy a semiautomatic weapon.

“It’s time for Congress to act. We cannot accept the notion that living in America means living with mass shootings as a common occurrence,” he said in a statement announcing his donations.

The money was donated to Americans for Responsible Solutions, Everytown for Gun Safety and Sandy Hook Promise.

Rep. Tim Walz of Minnesota, also donated a sum matching his past NRA contributions. Walz, who is running for governor, sent $18,000 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
