One of the longest grifts running in Republican circles concerns how many of their authors hit the New York Times and other bestseller lists.

The Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which raises money for Trump, made a very large purchase of Jared Kushner's book called, Breaking History.. The book itself has received heavy criticism from many reviewers.

The New York Times wrote, "Jared Kushner’s ‘Breaking History’ Is a Soulless and Very Selective Memoir."

Foreign Policy, who took the book seriously because Kushner was in the White House writes, "Unfortunately, the book offers neither a thoughtful reflection on the Trump team’s encounter with the Middle East nor an explication of the intellectual underpinnings of the “disruption” it claimed to bring to bear on the region’s thorniest problems. Instead, Kushner recreates his calendar, resulting in a tedious 512-page tick-tock of his White House years."

A new report by Forbes sheds light on how wingnut authors usually sell a ton of books. (Regular readers of this site already know how this works)

Whether you like Jared, the book, or not is pretty irrelevant since reviews and actual book sales have nothing to do with their scam.

“Breaking History: A White House Memoir” hit book shelves on Aug. 23. Two weeks later, the Save America Joint Fundraising Committee, which raises money for two Trump PACs, paid retailer Books-A-Million $131,000 for “collateral:books,” according to a campaign filing made Saturday with the Federal Election Commission.

On Sept. 11, four days after that bulk purchase, Kushner’s book appeared for the first time on the New York Times best sellers list.

This is the latest example of this grift.

Right-wing activist groups, think tanks, Political PACs, etc purchase excessive amounts of these books purely for political purposes. They use them to promote their fundraising -- an incentive to buy some type of subscription --- or to promote their writers.

As Zach Everson writes, "On Sept. 22, Save America purchased another $27,000 worth of books. “Breaking History” spent five weeks on the best-seller list before falling off."

Republicans always pay off their sycophants.
