According to reports, the House Ways and Means Committee voted on Tuesday to make public former President Donald Trump's tax returns once they are redacted for personal information. Rep. Richard E. Neal explained that Trump's taxes were never audited, as the ex-president claimed on numerous occasions.

Members of the committee revealed that the I.R.S. failed to follow its own policy because it did not audit Trump during his first two years in office.

Rep. Richard E. Neal explained Tuesday night after the Ways and Means Committee voted to make the former president's taxes public that Trump was never under audit. Shocker!

"We argued for an examination of how the audit process played out. There were no audits in a timely manner," Neal said.

MassLive reports:

Neal said the IRS only started a still-uncompleted "look back" into Trump's taxes in response to a letter from him.

"It was dormant. Right now, there are three years that have not been completed," he said.

He promised a report, with supporting materials, forthcoming in a few days after personal information like account numbers are removed.

"It's going to take a few days. But we believe it is only days," Neal said.

The failure to audit Trump highlights, Neal said, that the IRS is underfunded and under-resourced to look into complex tax cases and that a low-income person claiming the child tax credit is five times more likely to be audited than a wealthy taxpayer.

Trump has been lying for years about his taxes. Expect a diaper overload on aisle 45 tomorrow (or tonight!). A narcissist's worst fear is being exposed. We see you, Donald.
