Republicans don't seem to understand why they've lost the youth vote as Gen Z showed up at the polls en masse. What do they offer them? Backbreaking student loan debt for the rest of their lives, of course. Some conservatives wonder why student loans should be forgiven when theirs weren't. To them, I say, shut the fuck up, and stop being a greedy little twit. We should not want younger people to be burdened with debt just because we are. Stop that.
President Biden took out his veto pen to provide student loan relief since Republicans would have overturned his plan, leaving the plan's fate in the hands of the conservative-leaning Supreme Court.
Via The Hill:
The president's proposal, which has been a target of Republicans since he first unveiled it, would impact 40 million borrowers, providing $10,000 in loan forgiveness to those making less than $125,000 annually and $20,000 in forgiveness for Pell Grants recipients.
A two-thirds majority vote in both the House and the Senate would be required to override Biden's veto, a threshold opponents of Biden's effort cannot reach.
In a statement Wednesday, Biden said he vetoed the solution because he is "committed to continuing to make college affordable and providing this critical relief to borrowers as they work to recover from a once-in-a-century pandemic."
There is nothing that today's Republicans offer their voters. Look at Marjorie Taylor Greene and that other bonehead, Lauren Boebert. What have they done for their constituents? How about Matt Gaetz? Any of them? Of course, Manchin, Sinema, and Tester joined Republicans to overturn Biden's measure.
