The target letter that former President Donald Trump received mentions three federal statutes: deprivation of rights, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., and witness tampering. Special counsel Jack Smith's team met with the twice-indicted former President for about an hour on Thursday, so most of us are on Indictment Watch, waiting to see when they drop.
The meeting must have been pretty bad for the one-term former President turned Florida retiree and pretend candidate for the GOP nomination because he responded on his struggling Truth Social platform by saying, "Do not trust the Fake News on anything!"
"My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country," the Stable Genius wrote. "No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!"
Well, why didn't you say so, big guy? It's the old "I did nothing wrong" defense. Did his attorneys really say that to the Special Counsel? I realize he's been struggling to find lawyers to represent him, but he might as well have hired the Kraken Lady.
And I don't believe for a second that Trump wrote that.
