Fox's Laura Ingraham decided to conveniently omit a good deal of what Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker actually said during his commencement speech at Benedictine College this week, and used the backlash as an excuse to attack the "woke secularists" who dared to be offended by the sexist and bigoted remarks that came out of his mouth:
Butker, a devout Catholic, delivered the commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas on Saturday. Addressing the women in the crowd, Butker said, “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.” The kicker went on to say that being a homemaker is “one of the most important titles” for women to have.
He also criticized in vitro fertilization, surrogacy, gay pride marches, “degenerate cultural values,” abortion, and President Joe Biden. [...]
“At a time, though, when woke secularists dominate media, corporate America, Hollywood, and most universities, being a public witness to your Christian faith? Now that takes courage because speaking out may actually mean that you lose everything,” Ingraham said.
She then played several clips of “Harrison Bukter” giving his commencement address. The clips were mainly Butker speaking about his faith and dinging diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. His more overtly political and cultural remarks – such as calling IVF the result of “the pervasiveness of disorder” and talk about Biden’s “support for the murder of innocent babies” – were omitted.
She omitted a lot more than just that.
As the Mediaite post noted, Ingraham didn't give Lebron James and Kevin Durant the same courtesy when she basically told both of them to shut the f**k up:
"It's always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid 100 million dollars a year to bounce a ball," Ingraham said.
She continued, "And Lebron and Kevin, you're great players but nobody voted for you. Million selected Trump to be their coach. So keep the political commentary to yourself and as someone said shut up and dribble."
She went as far as saying you're not allowed to criticize Trump because he won an election, which is as anti-American as it gets.
The only consistency we can expect from Ingraham and her ilk is who she chooses to criticize, and who she wants to make into a martyr.
